I have a Nook color. Same difference essentially.
I have a Nook color. Same difference essentially.
Yeah, I got a Nook Color for Christmas and I love it.
So, I don't like reading books, just doesn't feel right on me, but I think if I got a Kindle, me being the nerd I am, I'd like it for the electronics, and I'd start reading books more, I've read a few books ofcourse, the text/font annoys me though, it's like when I read a sentence it meshes together, and it's like I'm dyslexic, but the Kindle is different, you can browse the web too, right? also, I love reading, but I hate reading books Do I get one?

I got it because I felt it'd not only be cheaper to get the books on it, but the fact that I'd be more motivated to read from a device. It has succeeded in both fronts. It might help your reading a little, if not though I think it has a text to speech function.
you can browse the web too, right?Do I get one?
You can but it's an "experimental" browser for a reason. I wouldn't put much faith in it, to be honest.
Wow everyone got a Kindle too! Neat, I'm going to use mine for college textbooks.
Has anyone used the new Kindle 3? Is it worth it?
I know that it was a related bump, but couldn't you just post in another thread? Fairly annoying when a year old thread is bumped.
I got a collection of 80+ books from H.G. Wells from the kindle store for like, 5 bucks. One of the best deals ever.
Hmm. I might get one then.
I'll always use books, if just for the smell of them. Yeah, I'm weird like that.
The kindle has a nice smell to it, can't quite describe it.
Ok everyone you can now get over the smell http://smellofbooks.com/
Hey, cool, my thread got bumped. I haven't touched my kindle in a while though, with finals going on and everything.
Hey, cool, my thread got bumped. I haven't touched my kindle in a while though, with finals going on and everything.
Unlucky. :/
I don't want to get a Kindle after reading this: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/18/technology/companies/18amazon.html?_r=1
Funny, I just read 1984 off my Kindle. Great book.
We need to be able to access Facepunch with the Kindle web browser. Also, planning to get one once I get the money saved up.
I bought the Nook instead, intend to install CFW and add some nice android apps
We need to be able to access Facepunch with the Kindle web browser. Also, planning to get one once I get the money saved up.
You can. [editline]14th January 2011[/editline] Though I had to disable java when we had those annoying ass snow flakes.
Got one for Christmas. I use it to look at hentai.
Got one for Christmas. I use it to look at hentai.
careful. The kindle isn't designed to deal with picture heavy webpages. It could be set into the screen for a while...
Amazon kindle, more like the Amazing kindle.
Just download them from another source and put it on via USB. They probably have a new version now anyway. That's what pisses me off about this story, people only read the bold part of it: Amazon remotely deletes books off thousands of kindles because it turns out the company they bought them off didn't have the rights to distribute them and those affected got a full refund.
Oh they didn't have the rights to distribute? What gives Amazon the right to delete your purchased property without your consent?
About "If you read alot it's cheaper" Round here public libraries are free.
Not every release in exist will be in there is in there and you can download the kindle books anywhere and hold over 2000 books at once
You all have messed up eyes or something because I can read off of an LCD screen fine for at least 2 hours before my eyes start to feel a little weird..
Oh they didn't have the rights to distribute? What gives Amazon the right to delete your purchased property without your consent?
Because what they were doing was technically illegal and it was the only option they could take to avoid damages. They were aware that it was a shitty situation and that they had no choice, so they apologised to those affected and gave a full refund. There's no reason to be mad about this unless you're some paranoid tinfoil hat wearer that believes 'the fat cats' at Amazon are spying on you and going to delete all your pirated books. Besides, Amazon doesn't give two shits if you get one anyway.
The screen is designed to look like a piece of paper. It doesn't have a backlight, so it wont glare at you. In my experience, it feels like I'm reading pages in a book.
But if I read in a book, the paper is really white and the letters become more clear when I use a lamp. Is this the same for the Kindle? Or is it like a calculator screen?
But if I read in a book, the paper is really white and the letters become more clear when I use a lamp. Is this the same for the Kindle? Or is it like a calculator screen?
It's similar. E-ink screens are hard to describe in detail as there's nothing else much like them. The closest you usually get is, "they look like a book" which doesn't really help. See if any of your friends have got them and ask to look at them. Alternatively, if you use the tube (I see at least 3 people a day using them on my way to college) or see someone using one out and about, have a glance over their shoulder at it. So far, I've shown mine to a couple of naysayers and most of them have been quite impressed with the screen.
I still prefer a book over this, but in the future when paper becomes a lost source. Sure, Kindle in my arm!
careful. The kindle isn't designed to deal with picture heavy webpages. It could be set into the screen for a while...
I'm not too worried. Most hentai is black and white ink art which is easy on Kindles screen.
You all have messed up eyes or something because I can read off of an LCD screen fine for at least 2 hours before my eyes start to feel a little weird..
Ok what books do you know that can be finished in under 2 hours, that don't have pictures in them.
