This is unbelievably retarded. People ARE giving you legit answers, but you don't like them and reject them. that's why people are "trolling you" or whatever.

Stfu and let the big boys discuss this.
It's so dumb I actually want to shoot myself. Very clever OP, veeery clever...
you're right. he fucking KNOWS what its like to get SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IN THE HEAD! IN THE HEAD man!!!
Never mind, thinking you may have an actual discussion with 14 year olds is impossible. Thanks for everyone who contributed with valid arguments, I appreciate it.

Oh for fucks sake. If the only thing people can do is making really funny jokes and rating everyone dumb just because they dont agree, then this thread serves no purpose.
Did you really expect to get a decent conversation going by claiming you know how it feels to get shot in the head. Knowing how it feels to fall because you've fallen in a dream is different; Your mind and body just happen to react that way to falling, real or not. Getting shot in the head is not a concept built into your brains well enough for them to be able to properly simulate them. And not only that, I think this thread is over since Rusty already nicely told us how his friend described getting shot in the head. Meh. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] Why did I do this
i know how it feels to have a dinosaur throw you at a brick wall at a velocity of 400 miles per fucking second ask me anything
Man, if I went by the OP's logic, I'd be able to say "I know what it feels like to be drunk because I dreamed it" I actually don't know what it feels like to be drunk; I've never drunk so much that I was completely wasted. "I know what it's like to die in the gears of heavy machinery because I dreamed it" "I know how to make nuclear bombs out of plants because I dreamed it" Y'see what I'm getting at here?
OP, maybe you should get shot in the head and see if you're right I'm pretty sure it either hurts unimaginably bad or you don't feel it at all because you're dead Either way your dreams suck
Ok, this may sound weird, but I know how it feels to get a bullet through your head. The weird part is, I have never been shot in any way. Are there any other people who have this ? I know I cant possibly know this, but I know. I got this feeling the first time in a dream. I now get those dreams more frequently. Normally I wouldnt be questioning this, but in your dreams you can also get the feeling like you fall down a long way. And I once fell down a long way, and it was exactly that feeling. So maybe it is the same feeling ? This may sound weird, but are there any stories of people who survived something like getting shot in the head ?
Anyone can feel pain when they think about it but they can't actually feel it. I can imagine my self being stabbed and thinking of the massive ammount of pain but will never feel it (I hope) I'm more concerned on what being shot in the nose would feel like.
Also ad hominem only proves you're 12
I've never been one for calling people out on what sort of argument they're using so correct me if I'm wrong but surely "only proves you're 12" is ad hominem, isn't it?
Yeah but it is still weird having dreams like that and such, and even though you might not believe it, it is possible it may feel like that.
Key word here is 'possible', therefore you have no idea how it actually feels and your mind is putting up with its best guess as to how it may feel.
TBH I have had those dreams were you feeling like your falling, then you suddenly wake up. Freaky shit :ohdear:
i know how it feels to have a dinosaur throw you at a brick wall at a velocity of 400 miles per fucking second ask me anything
Was it a Velociraptor?
TBH I have had those dreams were you feeling like your falling, then you suddenly wake up. Freaky shit :ohdear:
This is normal, especially if you're falling and spinning. It happens when your blood pressure changes. I get it rather often before sleeping. I imagine getting shot in the head wouldn't be as painful as it is deadly. There aren't many nerve cells that transmit the sensation of pain in the head other than those in the protective skin around it.
I can imagine the feeling, and it's horrible :ohdear:

And also it would happen so fast you couldn't feel it.
In most cases where something can kill you fast but technically painfully you might not feel a thing because you're dead before you recover from the shock state in which you are unable to react or conceive anything.

Oh wait, now I know how it feels. More painful than I anticipated.
Whats wrong with you people ? I know I am retarded for thinking you can actually get serious answers on facepunch, but just because you people think its "retarded" doesnt make it retarded. Look, I have no way to explain this. But Im being serious here.
I think this is the problem.
Just because you had a dr- oh fuck it it's been stated 100x already in this thread. YOU HAVE NO IDEA. and whats worse is you made a dumb thread about it, at least put it in fast threads or go bump http://www.facepunch.com/threads/998256-Sleep-and-Dreams-Megathread-v2/page126 or something.
or go bump http://www.facepunch.com/threads/998256-Sleep-and-Dreams-Megathread-v2/page126 or something.
How can he bump a closed thread?
No.
If I get hurt in a dream I actually feel pain (only in the dream not after I wake up (duh)), it fucking sucks. I don't know if it's normal or not.
If I get hurt in a dream I actually feel pain (only in the dream not after I wake up (duh)), it fucking sucks. I don't know if it's normal or not.
Normal. But you should check the parts that hurt in your dream. Usually if they hurt in a dream, they hurt in real life too. When I get hurt in a dream, I feel stinging because my muscles cramp during sleep.
Let me go ask Gabrielle Giffords, OP.
p sure the op's a successful troll but ima post anyway okay? alright? is that okay with u? so op you're basically saying that the unconscious human mind (everyone's, unless you're some kind of ~~super human~~) can precisely or accurately simulate the feeling of extreme physiological trauma that it has never experienced purely in the mind, - that is without any connection to the physical aspect of the injury - while unconscious? i've been stabbed in the stomach in a dream. i can't remember who but some asshole stabbed me for some reason in a computer lab in my old high school. most of what sticks in my mind about it was the emotional reaction I had in the dream - "oh shit I'm getting stabbed someone help I'm gonna die help me someone kill this maaf I don't wanna be alone" and stuff like that. the physical reaction was unremarkable - shortness of breath, hard to move (like wading through molasses), and a very dull, warm pain. these effects aren't limited to this dream, I get them for all sorts of things I experience in dreams (especially wading through molasses) now i'm no rocket surgeon but I'm p. sure that if someone actually dug a well in my gut it would hurt a hell of a lot more than a dull pain there. my brain has no frame of reference even close to something like that so it had no way to approximate the feeling. yours is the same way.you're dumb, this thread is dumb, please don't ever do this again ps. your falling example counts for dogshit. your inner ear has been experiencing all sorts of shifts in balance and falls since the day you popped out of your mom's cooch. the distance you fall doesn't matter it's the same sensation
