A few, some like Forgotonia ( a real micronation I shit you not, in southwest Illinois) are literally just forgotten.
I think I heard about that in the news. Wasn't that like an entire county that was tired of being ignored by the Illinois state government and so they seceded?
If Quebec ever separated itself from the rest of Canada, there would be a need for a Coalition to keep its economy running.
So yeah, it wouldn't change much if Quebec reached independence.
Except maybe politically we wouldn't be stuck with conservative politics and stupid shit like that.

Yes.
I honestly don't think the Quebecois who are in support of this have thought that Canada also needs to agree to the terms they want for independence, such as using our currency and army, and things such as free trade. I don't think the separatists realize that we can say no, and then Quebec will have a terrible economy, no military, no trade partners, and no trade goods. It's honestly better for Quebec if they just stay where they are now. I mean, the BQ, the separatist party for the federal level, already lost official party status, separatism is nearly, finally, dead. It's been 16 years since the last big attempt at separatism, and I say it's time to give it a rest, it won't benefit anyone.
Never gonna happen.
Honestly, they aren't self sufficient and would have a super hard time being recognized by the international community.
You know how many "states" have seceded from the union in the US? Of course you don't, because they've never succeeded.
Because they cant. Only Texas can do that
Because they cant. Only Texas can do that
Contrary to popular belief, that isn't true. However given it's size, than can divide into as many as 8 different smaller states.
If Quebec did become independent, they'd only be putting off inevitable globalisation.
Plus they're probably not self-sufficient.
It's failed tons of times in the past when it had more support(it was close though) , so it won't happen now when they have less support.
I'm against it, Quebec's argument that they are a distinct society is silly, that's like if here in B.C if the gulf islands wanted to separate, because they have a distinct culture(hippies, weed and sheep)
I just think they stop whining about it, and deal with it, they already have enough special powers.
Who cares about Quebec anyway, isn't that where all the french canadians are anyway? So nothing of value would be lost.
Facepunch could take over and organize the government like the forums; banned citizens are deported to Canada.
At least we'd have a cool flag, seriously the Quebec flag is pretty awesome.
Facepunch could take over and organize the government like the forums; banned citizens are deported to Canada.
Nah, we just have camps at our borders called "refugee camps" for the banned citizens.
Quebec trying to be its own country is almost as bad as the natives who are still butthurt about how we tricked them over 200 years ago.
hehe i like casual racism too
maybe they're butthurt by the fact there is a disproportionate number of first nations people in prison
maybe they're butthurt by the fact the reserves are practically third world nations due to funding problems
maybe they're butthurt by the fact it's harder for first nations people to get a good education and a good job
maybe they're butthurt by the fact their communities are overrun by gangs
Who cares about Quebec anyway, isn't that where all the french canadians are anyway? So nothing of value would be lost.
Who cares about Ontario/British Columbia/Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba, isn't that where all the english canadians are? So nothing of value would be lost.
See, I can make baseless assumptions too.
Quit bashing people based on shit you heard, we're not all assholes who scream "VIVE LE QUEBEC LIBRE" with a tiny plastic flag in one hand and a king-sized can of beer in the other. The problem with every society is that only idiots stick out of the pack.

Perhaps they're butthurt by the fact that we took over their land and forced them to sign unequal treaties that we then violated? Not to mention virtually wiped out them out entirely and forced them onto reservations.

Well... a lot of French Canadians who want a seperated Quebec are like that so.. V:v:V
The Hanglish scum know nothing of the plight of the Quebecois, tabarnak ladies et monsieurs, Vive la Quebec Libre
Well... a lot of French Canadians who want a seperated Quebec are like that so.. V:v:V
Nope, most separatists I know are not like that, they're pretty modest about their political views so you're wrong.
The most vocal ones are the annoying ones though.

Where, in Quebec, do you live? If you don't mind me asking..
Quebec DOES NOT want to be independent where do you even come up with all this bullshit.
Facepunch could take over and organize the government like the forums; banned citizens are deported to Canada.
no, Im sorry.. a bunch of fucking 12 year old cunts couldent run a revolution.
Probably already been said, but it would totally cut off the maritimes from the rest of Canada. That would be a disaster.

:wtc: ... A part of it does. Weren't the votes (while ago) 51% No, 49% Yes or something along those lines?

In 1995..?
Where, in Quebec, do you live? If you don't mind me asking..
Montréal.
Arguably, the shift away from the Bloc at the federal level does show that the Quebecois are moving away from a more nationalist ideology as the one that takes center stage, through it still does show up on NDP radar

16 years ago, I think the BQ losing official party status this last election shows that separatism is no longer such a popular opinion in QC.
Montréal.
Well, SHIT, I live in a small city right beside it; Chateauguay.
Oh well, we frequent different people then I suppose.

...um...
Although the sudden change to NDP means most people in Quebec want something to change.
Which could maybe lead to a new separatist movement, we never really know.
