I find it legitimately funny how you guys think people ever believed there was ever a sanius squad. The whole sanius squad thing was just a joke to make fun of how a bunch of the same users always show up in certain topics and act like tools. Then they all argue and circlejerk until people are sick of dealing with it and leave. Every time I see one of you guys, there's always two more circlejerking and rating everyone they dislike dumb. You guys end up ranting for paragraphs and pages misconstructing arguments and calling people bigots. Not to mention the whole obnoxious smug self satisfaction you guys all seem to have. You act like its some sort of feat to dislike lmao pics (how unique). Hell when people hate you guys so much to even coin a phrase to make fun of you, you carry it around like it's some sort of badge of honor.
is this meant to be serious or is this a snippet from a rough draft of a satirical novel you're writing
You still have no idea what you are talking about. Calling a guy a girl or a girl a guy isnt sexist you twat. Now if I said "Kairi needs to be in the kitchen at all times and never fight in wars and has to be a stay at home mom" then thats sexist. You throw words you dont even understand. [editline]8th March 2013[/editline]
What's really pathetic is you being unable to have a conversation without being a dick. I have no idea why im arguing with you, you come off as an angsty white knight who has 0 clue on what he is saying, its just pissing in the wind now and wont go anywhere by talking with you. Constant attacks, saying people are the problem multiple times, calling people out on random shit, get the fuck off your smug ass high horse dude and stop tossing shit around you dont know.
i don't get it she basically says "these are things that have happened in video games over the years!" and then touches on no part of it in depth like i understand this is supposed to be a series but shouldn't you open with something substantial and actually interesting? [editline]e[/editline] people crowd-funded 150,000 dollars for this?

I had to watch that for an English class again, mostly bullshit with few actual points
I had to watch that for an English class again, mostly bullshit with few actual points
ok do you mind telling us why you think that way???
nah why bother
Ok, most of you aren't even arguing about the video anymore so I'm just gonna say what I have to say. I wholeheartedly agree that the games industry has a problem with sexism and especially portraying good female characters (not that they don't exist but they're the minority). However Sarkeesian really could have done much more with this video. While it's sparked discussion, she basically repeated what has been said hundreds of times. She asked $6000 to make this series and got $150000, so unless she does a fucking stellar job researching and analysing the topics she puts forth she's pretty fucking awful at what she does. She literally said NOTHING new and provided no actual insight. I really hope this changes with her future videos. And I have a real problem with people saying that strong female characters are "men with boobs". What the fuck does this even mean? Do we have to restrict ourselves to strictly feminine qualities when creating deep female characters? How do you even do that? I mean are assertive women forbidden or some shit? Also,
don't forget the comics that give a lifeless 3d model a character
yes because characters and stories can't exist in multiple forms of media or be connected across them i mean thats just dumb right
For some reason reading this thread and knowing that I'm not the one getting into a froth-mouthed argument feels cozy. Guess it's like that when your opinion is as simple and inoffensive as, "Yeah, there's inadvertent sexism in games sometimes."
I had to watch that for an English class again, mostly bullshit with few actual points
Eh, I can see where she's coming from. The "Friends" set is so grounded on gender stereotypes that I don't think it even needs to be discussed, but I didn't really find the previous "girly" sets as bad as she thinks they are, they were basically just silly jewelry kits and the like. Some of the suggestions she makes in the second part are pretty good, though. It's perfectly possible to have a level-headed discussion to get your opinion through, as impossible as that may sound after reading some of the posts here.
My opinion is that yes, video games are sexist, but getting offended at them with the intent of changing things for the better is unfortunately not going to do much. As shitty as it sounds, popular opinion doesn't matter much to Big Video Game Company X who makes loads of money off of boobies and women being good at cooking in their games
ok do you mind telling us why you think that way???
She says that Lego doesn't have enough female characters, but most of the Lego made today is licensed produce, you can't just go changing the gender of pre-established character
uh actually yeah opinions like this do matter and have changed the course of history in other mediums?
Implying the color of the drill was sexist was pretty dumb.
Yeah that was kind of stupid. But noting the fact that the color purple is plastered everywhere wasn't. It's kinda funny how those things (not just legos) are basically color-coded for boys and girls.
She says that Lego doesn't have enough female characters, but most of the Lego made today is licensed produce, you can't just go changing the gender of pre-established character
I really don't think that was the point. What I got from the video is that Lego basically segregated the toys and made the ones aimed for girls completely different from the main Lego universe, basing it around stereotypical gender roles for women on top of that.
I watched the whole video, and I'm genuinely surprised that there are almost 20 pages of arguing about it. She really didn't present any radical opinions and made logical points. My main critique is that it was rather bland, she doesn't really use a lot of inflection in her voice and I felt like I was in a lecture hall. Still an interesting topic though, I'll probably see the next one.

When you're 5 and playing with lego, the color can be a huge deciding factor for you.
SO what if different sexes have different taste in colors?
Your taste in color is not determined by whether you're male or female Fun fact: 80 years ago it was men who wore pink and women who wore blue
times change
uh actually yeah opinions like this do matter and have changed the course of history in other mediums?
Well, when she makes a video in the series that actually draws your attention and keeps it then maybe, but for now she's just another voice, except one that is apparently worth 150,000 dollars my problem with the series so far is that it's just boring and expository, it doesn't prove anything one way or the other
Any voice is better than none. Her past videos are worth that much to some people, and you aren't one of those people, so what does it even matter to you?
