I can't find it now, but there was a gay psychologist who studied the brains of straight men/women and gay men/women. He found out that some part of the brain, I forgot exactly what it was, has a difference in size. In straight males and gay women, its the same size as each other. In straight women and gay men, it was smaller to straight men/gay women but it was the same size compared to gay men/straight women.

This results in a lot of generalizations and preconceptions, which are still bad, even if they come about through what most would call good intentions. This is why it depends on context. If he had said that about a region in which people are treated roughly the same, I would disagree, and it would be very hard to find good reasoning for that. Same goes if you want to make it about the world as a whole, but there are situations in which that is an acceptable, justifiable opinion to have. I'm a person raised a by homophobes - my parents, teachers and the kids around me, while I may still be considered and called homophobic, that's not how I will raise my children, and they'll learn that everyone is equal. Me? I'm far too impregnated with constant propaganda to view homosexuality as something normal. I'm not proud of that, but I know how to keep my mouth shut, so I won't be shouting anti-homosexual propaganda, my hands to myself, so I won't be a part of any lynch-mob or a group beating up innocent people, and nor would I participate in any vote against homosexual marriage, so I can't even consider myself a threat against gays.
