Why does Metal music get attacked while rap music is praised?

I for one, do not praise rap music.
Actually, this one French rapper is pretty good. He refrains from saying things like, "Yah, bitch, yah!" every 2 seconds and has never "supermanned" that whore.
Not all rap is like that.
I dislike most rap because it's musically uninteresting, but only a few of the mainstream bands actually talk about what you've mentioned. You're sorely misinformed. Please don't stereotype an entire genre of music based on a few shitty gangster rap bands that have gained mainstream popularity.
I think people just find it easier to generalize the whole rap community because more people tend to listen to the repetitive gangster rap then the kind that is actually good.
Edit:
Yeah! I totally agree with you. \m/ But most good metal is underground anyway, if its totally sold out like dragonforce, it tends to be horrible and more about the money.
Most rap these days sucks, and has pathetic lyrics and music.
Did you know that Soulja Boy made Crank dat with FL Studio (Frooty Loops)
I mean, that's pretty pathetic that people like it, I can shit out better music and use any random loop in any program that would sound better and have more emotion and meaning than crank dat. But most people just like it because it's easy to dance to and pretty simplistic.
However, NWA is actually good rap and should be praised.
Ya, NWA isn't really the kind of music I would listen to but I respect them because there songs actually rhyme and they never repeat one phrase 15 times.
It really depends on the group. You also have rappers like the Jedi Mind Tricks, who rap about stuff like "I'm the one who hammered the first nail in Jesus" :downs:
The bad thing is just that everyone associates a music style with it's mainstream artists. Not every metal group is like Manowar or Slayer, not every hip-hop crew is like 50 cent or Souljah Boy.
Don't ever compare 50 cent to souljah boy again.
Don't ever compare 50 cent to souljah boy again.
They both sound the same.
They both sound the same.
Not really, no.
Metal is a lot harder to create. Everyone can make rap sound good, it requires skill to make good metal
Not really, no.
They are both black, they talk about cars.. Whats different about them?
They are both black, they talk about cars.. Whats different about them?
How does both being black make them sound the same?
How does both being black make them sound the same?
This pretty much explains it.

I can't explain it more clearer than that.

No it doesn't.

I can't decide if this is satire or not.
How would you react if somebody said two of your favourite rock bands sounded exactly the same?
Yeah, so fucking don't.

More like one of your favorite rock bands and your most hated rock band in this case.
I attack nu metal alot because nu metal's just horrible. Listen to Slipknot and tell me they aren't horrible, I dare you.
I also can't stand when a rapper says the same thing over and over again such as:
I got my bitch to suck my dick, to suck my dick, and suck my dick yeah she sucked my dick.

More like one of your favorite rock bands and your most hated rock band in this case.
Yeah, that makes more sense.
Normally if I elaborate into these things they become really easy to misunderstand and the wrong people end up opposing me. :P

Not all rappers do that.
It's exactly the same as someone else saying all rock musicians sing about is sex and drugs. We know not all musicians don't; it's just a case of finding the good ones who don't.

I know not all rappers do that, I said I can't stand when a rapper does that, I am also implying that I enjoy rap.

That's just a few off the top of my head.

Haven't seen that joke before :raise:
Snoop says N, ho, bitch, pussy and rims, but I still love his stuff.
I also like metal.

Chances are your favourite jazz musician and a jazz musician you hate would sound exactly the fucking same to shitloads of us.
It's all to do with opinion either side is right, but sounds like you took the stereotypical view of rap, i don't enjoy the music but i do know that the genre does have meaning apart from 'N*****, Rim's and bitches. You just have to respect other peoples opinion and hope to god they respect yours.
No you must yell your opinion very loud and beat everyone else into submission until they share your opinion.
No you must yell your opinion very loud and beat everyone else into submission until they share your opinion.
This man speaks the truth.

Why would I hate a jazz musician? It's Jazz man!
You're backed into a corner now, whats your next move sir?

Jazz and rap are some of the most similar genres structurally

I don't know why I posted those videos :)
I hate rap for one reason:
1. Mainstream rap takes no talent to make.
Listen to something that 50 Cent makes. All you need is Fruity Loops and Audacity to create something like that. I could make it, my brother could make it, anyone could. I can't like or respect something like that when it really isn't special. I swear I heard a rap song, in which the musical portion was just two notes being played behind a simple beat. THAT is what I really hate about it. Yes yes, I know there are artists that make really good rap with technical songs, but I don't know of them. I would listen to them for the talent, but I just don't like the sound of rap anyways.
Being an elitist metal head who listens to mostly Ensiferum, Finntroll, Moonsorrow, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody, Svartsot, Turisas, and Wintersun, I could say that I'm pretty much set with my genres and what not.
lol we ruined our schools "Battle of the Bands" by bringing our black metal band in. While everyone else was playing normal rock and roll, we blasted out some black metal and stirred up much trouble with the faculty when we told the audience to rise from their seats and come up to the front of the stage.
And they didn't let us bring a coffin on stage...
FUCK YA FINNTROLL!
My school had a battle of the bands to I was going to bring in some Behemoth black/death metal!
Excuse me? Who "praises" rap? It's easily the most hated genre on the planet. Anyway, only old Christians hate Metal. On Facepunch, anyway, it's one of the most popular genres.
I <3 Eminem/Shicka shicka shicka slim shady!
It seems like rap music is attacked a lot more than metal music.
Only on the internet. Hell, I live out in the country and its praised to death.
Of course, then there's the wannabe hick fucks who only listen to country... ughh...
Country and rap combine to make the worst high school dances anyone could possibly endure. Ever. I wanted to shoot myself at Prom. Stupid old-ass DJ with his giant moustache going up to the microphone and saying "HAAYYYY, GUYYZZ! LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GETTIN' A LOT OF COUUNNTRYYY REQUUUEESSTSS!!! SO I'LL BE PLAYING SOME COUNTRY!!! WOOHOO, RIGHT?!"
Woop-dee-fucking-doo.
Fuck you, Old-DJ-Man-With-A-Giant-Moustache. Fuck you.
