No dead rising doesn't try to be gritty, it's fun because they don't take it seriously. AND they're are no tables with guns strewn randomly through the level, with magazine capacities bigger than all fuck.
Not to mention the action in L4D is tedious at best. It suffers from what most valve games suffer from I beat this into the ground now it is only fun when I am drunk.
Now this is just my opinion, you might still play L4D I don't know. But in all likelyhood you don't.
