I remember I asked Moonbeam about a problem and she told me to fuck off.
:saddowns: Atleast the admins here are classy about it.

Just noticed he is holding it.
Does he hold the paper when he draws on it too?
Oh wow.

I think he's holding the tablet in the image just for the comic's purposes
I think he's holding the tablet in the image just for the comic's purposes
He could use a different angle-
Oh, right.
I think he's holding the tablet in the image just for the comic's purposes
What purpose?
What purpose?
For the comic, exactly as I said, the comic needs to exaggerate the character holding a tablet. Imagine him sitting at a table hunched over the tablet, not so interesting, isn't it?

It would be much more interesting to see Preston draw a character on different angle.

I dunno, it's his comic =P
And the comic is true on the point, I've used old tablets before and they're not as precise as newer ones (figures) so the comic does hold it's water =)

He's not joking about older tablets, so no, it doesn't hold water. Especially not since his comics are made with a tablet.
How do these people function in day to day society?
How do you get up in the morning, draw a fat naked squall sucking off a male quistis and then go to work
how does that work
but his comics arent made with a tablet.
I'm pretty sure he inks it traditionally and then cleans it up in PS

Read his description:
"My wacom tablet is pretty old (pre-Bamboo series) and it's not very reliable in making smooth lineart, which is why I still resort to using traditional pen and ink on paper."
How about them apples?

Wamboo tablet isn't a bad tablet.
The thing that annoys me, is that he thinks buying a better tablet will make him a better artist.

I don't think he said that =/
He just said that his oldtablet can go faulty sometimes.
Also in reply to the same guy. He could be drawing with a mouse as well. I've never really adjusted to drawing with either a tablet or a mouse so I just keep it on paper but a friend of mine didi wonders on a tablet and when his tablet broke he just shifted back to mouse =P
I can draw a curved line on a bamboo tablet. And I can't even draw a good avatar for myself!

No he doesn't. Now you're just imagining a side of Tom Preston that doesn't exist. He doesn't believe that tools make the artist.

Lol, thanks for taking my side and fyi I follow Tom on dA and saw teh comic when it appeared =P
I also read the descriptions on almost anything there is (youtube vids, dA posts etc.) cuz it gives me a bit more insight on the item at hand =)

Agreed on that, Illustrator's live trace is an amazing thing =)

What?
What?
It's an option in Illustrator that traces the scanned image to vectors
No he doesn't. Now you're just imagining a side of Tom Preston that doesn't exist. He doesn't believe that tools make the artist.
He's still the kind of guy who buy the overpriced item for works that do not really require this thing. Such as Buckley from CAD.
In his comic, he's using a ballpoint, and not a regular digital pen. From my experience, the ballpoint is a pain in the ass for drawing correctly, compared to the digital pen. I don't know if he had really done this, but that wouldn't surprise me. Considering how many times he loves to draw his materials (especially Apple products) like he was bragging about it.
If i were him, I would get an high-end Intuos4 tablet, which has already a very good pressure level.

:downs:
I'm wondering what that had to do with anything.
Also it sucks. It's so bleeding obvious to see when it's used.

Not really if you fix the results up... It does take some additional work but much less than tracing the whole line-art
