Whats the price of a good microphone for recording? Any recommendations? I purchased this one (albeit not for singing, hope it might be suitable for it though). (samson meteor)
AT2020 is a good place to start, though if you want to record drums, you'll have a harder time since it doesn't have a -10dB pad or anything like it.
Aspiring vocalist here! I do mostly vocal covers over instrumentals, but I can play a bit of guitar as well. Still a beginner when it comes to playing though. Here's my latest vocal cover My mic isn't exactly the best for singing, though. I broke the noisegate a few times, but I had to be loud!
I honestly really enjoyed this!
I shall not let this thread leave page 1! Here's my mic, I really want to improve my voice and will hopefully gather the confidence to post a cover here at some point. CAD U37 (under $50): Sounds great for both vocals and gaming, which I do both of. [editline]23rd June 2014[/editline] Actually, here's one: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24554595/Sounds/Evanescence%20-%20Bring%20Me%20To%20Life.mp3
https://soundcloud.com/valon-s/old-pines-ben-howardcover new cover guys, hope you like it.
https://soundcloud.com/valon-s/old-pines-ben-howardcover new cover guys, hope you like it.
I see your beautiful voice and raise you a fresh vocal cover of my own: Dream Theater - Beneath The Surface Also, I really like your cover of The Scientist!
http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/41461189/drop/she%20is%20love.mp3 Never sung before, took a stab at she is love. What can I do to improve/practice or become a better vocalist in general? Sorry for mouth noise
Hey guys, first time posting here!
Welcome! Glad to have you here, like I said in the general discussion-thread I dig your voice, do you do original songs as well or are you currently just interested in playing covers? If you got the time you should read the rules thread as well, general rules to the forum applies although we've also got some locally flavoured rules that could be good to know if you plan on staying. :)
I've only been singing covers really, I do like to write my own songs I just never get around to singing them :v:
Hey, you've got a really great voice. Keep it up! Would love to hear it through a good audio setup some day. One thing I'd mention though is that you do miss a few of the trickier pitches. If you ever notice yourself off pitch on a note, I recommend stopping in your tracks and practicing that note for five to ten seconds and then backtracking to the start of that verse and trying again.
my singing voice sounds okay for the first three hours of the day and then goes to shit. is there a way i can prolong the non-shit period?
my singing voice sounds okay for the first three hours of the day and then goes to shit. is there a way i can prolong the non-shit period?
Depends what you're doing at during those hours.
my singing voice sounds okay for the first three hours of the day and then goes to shit. is there a way i can prolong the non-shit period?
This sounds like you might have a serious medical condition, could you go in further on what you mean with it going to shit? Does your speaking voice alter during the day? Or is it only when you truly belt it out that you notice unwanted changes? More information means we can help you better (and locate the problem), I would advice going to a doctor but it could just be something easy that we can help you with. Would you mind recording you singing when you've got the mojo, and also later when the voice goes to shit? It would help a lot to understand your problem. :)
oh shit i forgot about this thread I should have been more specific, sorry guys. What I meant was I lose a bit off the top of my range as the day goes on which is normal, but it happens quite early in the day sometimes which I find quite unusual and frustrating. If I wanna track a song I just wrote I might have to drop the key a few semitones by the time I am ready to record it. case in point, me struggling in F: I probably should have gone down to Eb or something. It used to not worry me so much as I am more of a composer than a singer but it's starting to get kind of inconvenient yaknow?
I tried another, Drifting by Pat Briscoe (from PAYDAY 2): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24554595/Sounds/Pat%20Briscoe%20-%20Drifting.mp3
i sang (& composed but w/e) this song: [editline]29th July 2014[/editline] lyrics are placeholder. recorded with someone else who regularly posts here (NickoDomene) who's the drummer on the band.
Decided to revive this topic! http://soundcloud.com/yaad-mohammad/knock-knock
Reviving the topic again with a vocal cover of I Will Follow You into the Dark. Hopefully I did it justice.
