This is new to me.

( go be unfunny somewhere else)
All of this shit, but he doesn't want to add smartness back?
Probably because Smartness was flawed. From real words be marked as incorrect to people being elitist about numbers.

It made things a little more fun though

Thread called BAN!! in the Mr.Ap ple subforum
It made things a little more fun though
It really wasn't that great. Especially with the differences in spelling a few words (looking at the US English language here). And like Panda said, smartness elitism was just as bad as people rating-hoarding.
With the new flags the smartness spelling check can be based on your location, can it not? Let's bring it back.
I fail to see how that would work at all.
So people who are not from the US/UK aren't allowed to post in english anymore?
With the new flags the smartness spelling check can be based on your location, can it not? Let's bring it back.
Would be a lot of work for a somewhat useless feature.
With the new flags the smartness spelling check can be based on your location, can it not? Let's bring it back.
That can certainly negate what I've said, but if you were, say, Dutch, then simply speaking english would drive your post count to the ground and (provided all of the smartness functions were to come back) instaban you.
[editline]19th May 2011[/editline]
If it only applied to variations of the English language then sure.

Color, colour etc
I mean as in, a difference in American, English and Australian spelling. Here in the Netherlands we learn the English spelling, not the American or Australian for obvious reasons.
We Aussies for the most part use English versions of words, actually.
I mean as in, a difference in American, English and Australian spelling. Here in the Netherlands we learn the English spelling, not the American or Australian for obvious reasons.
This is getting really complex. You'd have to note all the differences between locales and what happens if a word of different meaning in another language is close to a word in English?
I mean as in, a difference in American, English and Australian spelling. Here in the Netherlands we learn the English spelling, not the American or Australian for obvious reasons.
I would say that is one of the constraints of the smartness system, where even if a word is spelled correctly, it won't matter if it doesn't pass the smartness dictionary.
I mean as in, a difference in American, English and Australian spelling. Here in the Netherlands we learn the English spelling, not the American or Australian for obvious reasons.
I use all kinds together
I mean British and American

Mum, jelly, jam.
We use most of the english spelling.
Damn ninjas
We Aussies for the most part use English versions of words, actually.
I'm sure we use the UK dictionary, with you Aussies incorporating Abo words and we Kiwis incorporating Maori words.
Yeah, you're right. The smartness system was fun but didn't work because of this, maybe if garry feels like going on a 'feature streak' again sometime he might do this, but probably not.
Well considering a few changes and new things have already happened in the last few days I would probably say this current feature streak has almost dried up.
Unless there's a whole overhaul again like the transition to vB4.
America was pretty fun, thanks for the vacation!
I mean as in, a difference in American, English and Australian spelling. Here in the Netherlands we learn the English spelling, not the American or Australian for obvious reasons.
Taught, yes, learned, no. We all watch American movies, and I learned my English from the tv, not school.
I'm sure we use the UK dictionary, with you Aussies incorporating Abo words and we Kiwis incorporating Maori words.
All the abo words are just kombawami looki, and we don't use them in our language version.
Do we need to clarify any more rules?

Looks good to me.
The "don't do it if you don't in real life" thing might catch people off-guard if they're really a dick.
Now to ban everyone in LMAO pics for image macros
Piracy And Leaks
You won't banned for warez/leaks unless:
• You provide links
• You ask for links
• You hint at where to download
• You brag about downloading
Posting screenshots/videos of pirated/leaked content is fine.
So that means that it's fine to now say that I used to download illegal games, aslong as I don't go. "Ha look at me downloading illegal games while you sorry asses all have to pay for it!!"?
Also, personally I think there should be an exception for garry's mod, that should be bannable no matter what if you ask me.
If you say you pirated something garry made, be prepared to be banned permanently.
That's how I see it, right?
If you say you pirated something garry made, be prepared to be banned permanently.

That's what I mean, yes. But it isn't in the rules.
Image Macros
Image macros are stupid and will get you banned - with the following exception
• You won't get banned if you personally have made an image macro especially for that reply
What this is saying basically is don't post image macros from image macro sites. They're not funny.
How can we prove that the macro's are personally-made? Can we just show that they aren't on any other sites, or show photoshop files or something?

[/release]Why not ban image macros all together? There’s also no way of telling if an image macro someone used was hand-made or copied off the web, without having to scan each one with TinEye

Most image macro's are well know.
