Is it just me or do names look bigger?
[QUOTE=compwhizii;30145434]luckily agent fruxodaily is on the case[/QUOTE] Serious business bro
[QUOTE=Kai-ryuu;30148582]can the mods ban May 31st from occuring so ROFLBURGER doesn't get gold member[/QUOTE] Yes, this lad sounds like a ragging asshole! He has ROFL in his name for fuck sakes! In all seriousness, why would you care.
Rename, "chatdog" to "the chatdog, so it resembles my name. :v:
[QUOTE=The BoxDog;30150198]Rename, "chatdog" to "the chatdog, so it resembles my name. :v:[/QUOTE] Yeah, sing for us in the chat like you used to do on noxiousnet :v: When/if it comes back, anyway
[QUOTE=The BoxDog;30150198]Rename, "chatdog" to "the chatdog, so it resembles my name. :v:[/QUOTE] That would probavly be the funniest thing ever on this forums,
roflburger, you seem quite butthurt
Is it possible we can have spoiler tags work on images?
im gay
okay [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] you are also butthurt over ponies [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] fun fact
[QUOTE=Raijin;30151391]Is it possible we can have spoiler tags work on images?[/QUOTE] We used to have something that did just that: media tags. And it doesn't seem like Garry is going to be bringing that functionality back anytime soon, so get comfy. Closest to "spoiler tagging" an image now is to just enclose it in url tags.
[QUOTE=hashbrownclown;30151522]okay [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] you are also butthurt over ponies [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] fun fact[/QUOTE] You're butthurt over ratings.
[QUOTE=deadeye536;30147194]He's downloading data [i]designed[/i] to be parsed by a JSON parser, not evaluated. eval() is a terrible choice when you have alternatives like JSON.parse().[/QUOTE] I'm sorry, did you think it was a massive coincidence that JSON just happens to be stored in the form of valid well formed Javascript which produces the original input when evaluated? It's not. Parsers are for other langauges, and are only included with JS for completeness and a few cased unrelated to this one.
[QUOTE=garry;30143933]Sorry if my 4 hour chat experiment wasn't up to your stanards.[/QUOTE] wow that took you 4 hours? [img]http://i.imgur.com/oXDBm.png[/img] same amount of time. it's got channels and uses websockets
I evaluate that this conversation is stupid and garry's doing it his way.
[QUOTE=StinkyJoe;30144496]Maybe you should actually have a look at the forum before talking out of your "totally awesome" ass. Same goes for acting high and mighty about something you clearly know nothing about. The correct answer for when people say "hey, this is wrong, here's a better alternative" is not going on a bitch fit about how you're right and everyone else is wrong. AJAX long-polling Node.js or something like ngingx - basically a server-end that has good support for multiple concurrent requests (i.e. - what you get when you have 100 guys in an HTTP-based chatroom). JSON minus the current stupid, no HTML rendered on the server. Back/Front-end code that isn't dodgy as hell. That's how you fix your goddamned lag. [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] If you need any help I'll be over there working on a l33t w3c validated clan website.[/QUOTE] I was making something that worked - to build off, not to show off to my friends in #webdev. It took about 4 hours to throw together. [editline]31st May 2011[/editline] [QUOTE=compwhizii;30144553]So the real world huh? I didn't know the real world didn't have testing environments for products, and that a live site was a sandbox. Where having 10 uncompressed Javascript files on the top of web pages is no issue. [url=http://24ways.org/2005/dont-be-eval]I guess[/url] [url=http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/46716/what-should-a-developer-know-before-building-a-public-web-site]these people[/url] just don't know as much as you huh?[/QUOTE] Yeah I know it's out of the ordinary but I like to get results ASAP instead of fucking about on a local server for 3 months and then ultimately delivering nothing.
-snip-
[QUOTE=garry;30153554]I was making something that worked - to build off, not to show off to my friends in #webdev. It took about 4 hours to throw together.[/QUOTE] That's all fine and dandy, but you're pretty much ignoring any input on how to fix it, and seem to have the idea that nothing's wrong - you [b]do[/b] know chat is open for exploit, right? We've been telling you that. Once it's live I can have everyone dump their cookie contents onto chat to show you.
I'm not ignoring any input. I already know that Ajax polling sucks, I already know there's chat lag. I don't need people to tell me how to fix it. It's all in my plan. No I didn't know of any exploit, please, tell me how?
I haven't had a chance to test it on your actual chat, but I've tested it locally on as close to your setup as I could, and it's pretty bad. I'll PM you with the details. ps.: you got it wrong, Ajax long-polling is [i][b]good[/b][/i], or well, as good as you can get without websockets, and probably your best bet for proper cross-browser compatibility.
It works but it's no good for chat/games is my point.
are you basically saying that you're just happy it works?
[QUOTE=garry;30153844]It works but it's no good for chat/games is my point.[/QUOTE] It's good enough for chat, you can open up a connection for listening, keep it running, and make another when you need to send data.
