I bought a tablet simply to play Osu! (A rhythm game) they're pretty useful if you just want to slouch in your chair and browse through things.
Windows button + tab is pretty cool. But it's still pretty useless.
Alt+F4 is even cooler.
Almost everyone in my school has a ipad. My school has an ipad lab. My parents are getting an ipad soon.
I'm around the iPad daily, since my high school splurged and has been apple certified and bought 300 iPads for the student body and staff. Honestly it was a cool toy at first, jailbreaking it in an attempt to increase productivity with flash was the only reason I was psyched with it but it lost it's novelty after two months. But after a while most attempts to integrate into classes failed due to limited internet ability (No flash) so most online text books were scrapped. Now most students try and find proxies to get to facebook, play games, or email answers to others in tests.
For tablets, to get the computing power of a PC and the shinyness of an iPad, get ubuntu Tablet edition. I use it on my tablet and its very convenient for when Im at the Podium reading my debate cases.
Never seen anyone use one. But I've never sent a single text message in my life so
Almost everyone in my school has a ipad. My school has an ipad lab. My parents are getting an ipad soon.
rich kids, rich neighborhood. ...or private school
My dad wants one so he can browse the web when he's on holiday, but do it on a bigger screen.
Surprisingly, I've noticed alot of people around my college campus with Ipads, it might somewhat be catching on.
Apple hardware is useless in schools, not enough software works with any of their devices.
I wanted a tablet before iPad came along. And not this pussified "tablet" craze, an actual fucking computer tablet.
1:Dude in a few of my university classes has one and uses it properly. 2:Dude standing on the trainstation everyday with me has one and uses it as a hughe ass mp3 player that you cant fit in your pocket. He just stands there with that thing in his hand and cheap apple earplugs in his ears. 3:My store manager has one mounted to his wall!!?! and uses it so stream uncompressed audio to his very exspensive sound system.
I'm all for android.... but. Honeycomb and android in general unfortunately has horrible lag issues, I cannot wait for the day my phone opens everything up smoothly instead of jittering randomly.
i have a xoom and i've never had a problem with "jittering" or lag, the entire experience of using it is very smooth and an example of good design
They're too expensive. Hell, i don't even have an Ipod touch/Iphone.
I want on of those Notion Ink Adam tablets
I see a few people at my Uni using them. But most people stick to the good old pen and paper.
[img_thumb]http://laptoppimp.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/panasonic-toughbook-cf.jpg[/img_thumb] these are actually pretty damn impressive, EMS agencies use them and I know firsthand they can be run over/ thrown around and keep working
i hear you cant upgrade toughbooks because they spray the components with foam or some shit and you need a chisel to replace a hard drive
and probably some kind of anti-material screwdriver to get the screws out.
I miss the time when blackberry and apple were berry and fruit and tablet was this thing
I made around £400 selling Chinese tablets on Amazon, wish i started on Ebay because now there's a person who sells all kinds of Chinese tablets at higher price than me and they sell because he's a top rated seller.
I have a galaxy tab. It's really good for just taking downstairs and browsing the internet with while I watch some TV. I got a netbook 2 years back but a tablet is just so much more convenient for internet browsing around the house, it will fit in my pocket and when on standby it will start up instantly. I can hold it in one hand and operate it with the other too, which you can't do with a netbook easily. Also angry birds on a 7" screen is a hardcore gaming experience.
Would a Kindle class as a tablet?
i want a playbook but the $499 price is a joke for the screen size. a 10 inch asus tablet with the same specs costs only $399... [editline]26th April 2011[/editline] ok just did some parts research, a $499 playbook costs $205 in parts while a $499 ipad 2 costs $326 in parts wow RIM can go fuck themselves
All those branded tablets are overpriced and those companies are a late cash in on the Chinese tablet market.
The iPad1 isn't that expensive anymore. I bought mine from my brother, who bought an iPad2. I like it. It's useful for checking out internet sites, forums, watching youtube videos and shit. I imagine once the price drops enough, tablets will be as common as cellphones.
my aunt bought an ipad to read books
I wanted a tablet before iPad came along. And not this pussified "tablet" craze, an actual fucking computer tablet.
I always wanted one of the Tablet computers that they used on Stargate Atlantis, they were so cool, with the keyboard docking stations.
my grandma bought an iPad for me and all my cousins/siblings (9 people including me, she's a bit frivolous with her money) I used it for maybe three weeks and haven't touched it since. It has its uses I suppose, but at the same time I found it more of a toy and less of a tool to do work on which is what people are expecting it to be. A lot of the people I've talked to expect to be able to replace their laptops with tablets (taking notes at school, things like that) which is stupid in my opinion. You can do so much more with a laptop and if you already have one theres no point in buying a tablet because, for now at least, the laptop will almost always be the better choice unless you're talking about portability.
i have a xoom and i've never had a problem with "jittering" or lag, the entire experience of using it is very smooth and an example of good design
I tried a Xoom at a store, and it was horrible. It was like it was running with 10 fps. It was completely filled with all kinds of widgets, maybe that's the reason. If you don't use it, give it to some other family members?
Windows button + tab is pretty cool. But it's still pretty useless.
Holy fuck whoa! And now I'll probably never use it again.
