ep3 is what ruined them. It's like George Lucas was determined to find a new way to put jar jar binks level comedy in star wars.
Seriously when did this:

weird that the droid commanders over the comms still have the ep1/2 voice

Well super battle droids don't sound like that in BF2. They sound more like Ep2

I'll never understand their obsession with the overheat meme. Both the original battlefronts did ammo just fine while staying vaguely within cannon (Blasters need a gas and energy, energy almost always runs out first, that's ~probably~ what you reloaded at those weird trashcan droids).
There are modifiers for some weapons that add reloading.

You would expect the super battle droid to sound badass and iirc it did before ep3.
The Supers in Battlefront 2 don't sound like the EP3 version. They have a deeper voice.
I liked the Super Battle Droid voices in Republic Commando. Made them vaguely terrifying.

Oh boy, I can imagine this ending well

Crates aren't a big deal. I don't mind autists who spend tons of money on crates and collectibles financing free updates for me, personally.

you cant have your cake and eat it when they're going to support the game with free dlc for several years.

Everything can be earned in game. Spending money is just a 'faster route'
"No one will ever be locked away by some purchase that they made," Fegraeus said.
Although Battlefront II won't have a DLC pass, EA will still make more money from the game beyond game sales alone. The game will offer microtransactions for people who want to speed up their progress, Fegraeus confirmed.
"When you want to progress and get stuff, you can either play the game and when you play you earn the in-game currency, and with that you can spend towards whatever you want," he told us. "If you want to accelerate that, if you can't play for a week, you can purchase that. The important thing is everything can be earned [through gameplay]. If you're someone who spends time on the game, we love you, do your thing, do what you want to do. If you don't have the time, you can spend money and we love you as well. It's your choice."
Fegraeus also assured fans that Battlefront II won't allow players to pay to win.
"No, it's not about buying the winning item," he said. "That's not how it works. No one can say, 'I'm going to spend my zillion dollars and then I'm going to dominate.' That's not how it works."
Plus as Naught said, all DLC is free, they need to make money for that DLC development some how.
did anyone else pay closer attention to the battle droid sprinting animation?
the torso almost floats above the ground while the legs work, keeping it perfectly stable almost as if the thing is on wheels
it's so smooth and, well, non-organic - only a machine can really move with that sort of precision and it gives the impression of a relatively lightly built mechanical thing and that obviously fits the cheap regular battle droids perfectly
and from what i saw the SBD's have a more human running style but also appear more stiff and robotic
I enjoyed the space combat in EA's first Battlefront, and I really like what I see so far.
The lock on feature, while accurate to the movies, was pretty boring. I am excited to see what they can do with the new spacecraft mechanics.
I also hope they add VR missions and gameplay.
Has there been any info about the split-screen gamemodes yet?
I'm just hoping they'd add more of them into this one.

*split-screen co-op available only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
I believe one of the modes they said at E3 was split-screen co-op was Skirmish. Which in the last game was 2 MP gamemodes with AI.
Naboo, Yavin 4, Tatooine, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Hoth, Endor, Takadona, Starkiller Base and Vardos are all confirmed locations in this game. That's at least ten possible maps so far, plus Coruscant and Jakku may appear as well judging by the previous trailer. That's not including any space battle maps, which we've seen little of yet.
Everything we've seen so far is leaving me hopeful they've learnt lessons from the last game when it comes to release content.
[editline]later[/editline]
Plus locations from the last game (Bespin, Sullust, Scarif etc) are probably going to be reused in this one.
Still boggles my mind how they fucked up battlefront 1 so badly. If they released it under a different name like star wars battlefield, i don't think people would be as pissed. They literally just rode off the battlefront name to make money.
But it didn't play like Battlefield either so that name wouldn't have worked.
So thanks for the 2015 Battlefront $70 beta EA you hacks. This is the game we all should of played 2 years ago but no they wanted to double dip.
I want this game but damn do i not want to give EA money.

Then do what you should've done with the first game and wait for reviews???

Ugh the reviews were good so nice try? Battlefront is a game that looks fun to play until you actually play it

I personally found it fun to play, but there just wasn't enough to keep me hooked and none of the DLC aside from the Death Star DLC interested me.
This game however looks like it will have enough, and since DLC is free I can just wait for more.

There are moments where it shined but it felt so empty. Yeah this game looks like OG Battlefront 2 with new graphics.

I did a bit of digging and the reason why they became higher pitched and goofy is because initially, the Naboo B1 Battle Droids (OOM series) were wired to a central computer (Episode 1), but then after it became apparent that having the droids wired to a central computer was a stupid idea after losing on Naboo, they decided to retrofit droids with individual cognitive modules that allowed the droids to have creative thought and a degree of individuality
The side-effect of that was when the B1s were introduced into more specialized roles combined with little maintenance to their cognitive modules, they started to develop side-effects like being excessively chatty and such; it's inferred that their voice change is the result of that.
Outside of that retcon way of explaining why they became so stupidly comedic, it's commonly assumed that the droids got Lucas'd to appeal to a younger audience, especially in The Clone Wars cartoon, etc

Reviews from actual people not from paid journalists
There's this huge consensus that BF1 sucked so clearly you're reading the wrong material

Which is sad, because episode 1 battle droids were the coolest thing ever when I was 9. Slapstick droids would have been almost as disappointing then as they are to me now.
