Can't you appreciate it both seriously and ironically?
Serionically?
I used to know Vektroid/Macintoshplus a long time ago. They were really damn cool, and an awesome friend. I have a fond respect for vaporwave, despite not often listening to it.
Saint Pepsi is another great artist.
yeh, some on there though all though personally I do prefer future funk. There are some awesome songs out there. Can't remember where this chart came from, has a load of stuff on it for people to go through [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/9bIp3x7.jpg[/thumb]
You can download the Vaporwave albums here by the way. I recommend Saint Pepsi's Hit Vibes, マクロスMACROSS 82-99's A Million Miles Away, and Literature's Prose ザ•リズム EP.
does anyone know what the credit song was?
If you got a friend who doesn't know what vaporwave is, send em this https://soundcloud.com/jetaimeabelard/seinwave
vaporwave isn't as retarded as people take it for, it actually has roots in the aesthetic movement which blended japanese traditional art with graeco-roman style art and architecture thrown in as well. Vaporwave is heavily inspired by that, as well as merging it with retro technology from the 80's and 90's
I put this song all the time into Gmod Tower
gah bandcamp's being shit for me
i actually like the non-edit version because it doesn't have the weird overpowering kick.
i've never seen a song fit so well with jackie chan movies

The genre would probably gain much more respect if they weren't lumped in with actual vaporwave.

lmfao mitchondria is the powerhouse of the cell
This is "serious" vaporwave, but more future funk, which I guess is kind of a subgenre.
oh man keats collective guys that label releases some sick shit take a listen to this as well
Vektroid is the only vaporwave artist worth a hoot. She's also makes almost exactly what that guy was parodying.
Somebody mix this with industrial already, holy shit. This is prime ground. Brb, making Industrial Vaporwave Synthpop
Oh, man, Vaporwave, Bitwave, Future Funk and all its variants and similarly-styled tracks that came around with it are the best thing. I'm a sucker for 80s synth music and these styles just go all the way and crank the synths up to eleven making a lot of tracks sound incredible. Speaking of Macross, this is just amazing:
You guys'd probably like Retrowave, which is very 80s sci fi. More here: https://www.youtube.com/user/NewRetroWave/videos
Seeing how positive the reception to Frank's material is, do you guys want me to create a frankjavcee general? Also, Kane, industrial-vaporwave does kinda sound like the new project I'm working on atm....
a general for vaporware would die in like a day if it's not in a non-busy subforum.
http://www.mixcloud.com/DJ_Persona/spacebop-fm-full-radio-demo Someone made a GTA esque radio station for vaporwave.

Please don't throw VHS Head in with Vaporwave genre he is so very far from it.
Adding to the Vaporwavey goodness ITT.
I've always felt like vapouwave is the musical form of overdosing on the 80s.
more macross, it's more of a mixtape type of thing tho
Also, Kane, industrial-vaporwave does kinda sound like the new project I'm working on atm....
It's exactly what I'm working on at the moment. If that's also what you're working on then all the power to ya', I'm hyped. I want to know your take on it.
I'm so happy I stumbled upon this thread. This music is so fucking good. How have I never heard of this?
to be honest i love how music is altering this decade moving back to funk with a mainstream appeal and also 80s synth with vaporwave stuff
