The whole "lol just turn the computer off" or "they're just words on an internet forum" mentality is why people like this get off scott-free. The internet shouldn't be this place where you worry about whether or not people are going to leave you alone.

Getting someone living in the same city as you to stop harassing them isn't easy, even when they are doing it in person. Getting someone a state away from you to stop isn't impossible, but it is extremely difficult. Internationally, you may as well forget it. The internet empowers you to do things remotely, for good and bad. The bad side of it is that you cannot offensively shut someone down and make them suffer legal consequences for their behavior. The unfortunate truth is that you simply must ignore it in most cases. Document things for law enforcement purposes, and don't even acknowledge them outside of that. Deleting things that are publicly visible is a form of interaction, and hence acknowledgement. Sometimes you have to delete things, but generally just ignoring the content is far better. If that means not looking at your steam wall for 6 months, so be it. Wherever possible, implement methods to silently remove stuff from your view. Set up filters on your email to automatically prune stuff so that you don't have to see it, and resist the urge to look and see if things are still happening. Who gives a fuck if Joe Blow is still sending you mean messages through email? You certainly shouldn't. You can make it so that you never see them, so fucking do so. If he isn't sending you stuff, there's nothing to see, and you don't have to get stressed out about it. If he is, you aren't any worse off because [i]you can't see it unless [b]you[/b] actively go looking for it.[/i] Becoming emotionally distant enough from the harassment to not even care about whether it is still ongoing behind your wall of filters is a huge hurdle to overcome, but once you do, your life will be so much better. If something happens to slip through your filters, well, one thing out of the ocean of shit thrown at you slipped through. Once in a while it happens. Figure out how to silently remove it if you can, and move on. It's nothing compared to what you could be facing. Find solace, not terror, in that fact. The worst thing that you can do is get worked up about it. Don't let others control your emotions.

I didn't bother sending a PM to others because if one mod doesn't respond then that just tells me "Oh fuck off it's a non issue" or "you're annoying go away". He did ban the first alt, but he didn't say or do anything about his other alts that were doing the same thing. There is no evidence for this unless you look in his email inbox.
