Dude's a total asshole too. Dunno if any of you have seen this full episode but iirc dude is fresh out of culinary school and hasn't worked in a proper, full blown professional kitchen before but thinks he's the hottest shit and leagues ahead of Ramsay. Whole episode was bonkers.
Atleast he came around and was really sensible after getting scolded enough. When him and the other owner actually responded quite well to their employee's criticisms I was quite surprised.
The other line chef in that episode that refused to serve Gordon's new menu because it had fried spicy wings was even more pompous and delusional.
"It's great to meet you, I hope you can make some sense of this shit"
Random my arse, that guy knew exactly what he was doing.
fancy restaurants are such bs
Reminds me of gourmet food
"heres a quarter of the food you usually get, for twice the price, and some squirt drawing on the plate"
I went to this one really expensive restaurant for my cousin's birthday, got whatever their "signature dish" was and received a giant pile of spaghetti noodles covered in butter surrounded by four pieces of fried shrimp. $35.
If he wants a true American delicacy, he needs the fried head of lettuce
Mmm warm lettuce my favorite!
I worked in a restaurant that served grilled romaine at one point. Its really not that uncommon of a concept.
Goddamn it ease it with the sound effects and tense music. It annoys me how many sound effects and "thrilling" music the US version has while the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares has nothing of that.
it kills me on the inside when I compare the two versions of the show. It's like the goddamn laugh track from Johnny test
I don't like how everyone instantly agrees with everything Gordon Ramsey says like his word his absolute law. I'm not saying he's extremely credible when it comes to the culinary arts but sometimes people should form their own opinions.

sticking an entire head of lettuce on the grill is pretty dumb though, it's only gunna be grilled on the very outside, i don't get it

You mean the whip crack?
I love watching Gordon Ramsey in Hotel Hell and his related shows. It sucks that everything he goes near goes out of business shortly after (they can never keep up with paying off all of his changes) but they're still very insightful on how not to treat customers.

you just triggered that sound effect in my brain after forgetting it, make it stop
The thing is that ride bowing thing is really cool but they use it WAY TOO MUCH and it's the same set of sound effects for everything.

ontopic: For some reason I got the most into kitchen nightmares when I was on vacation with my family in Sweden. Watching him rip chefs that deserve it a new one is so great.
Gordon actually cares too, he usually only gets pissed when it's deserved just because he cares about food so much. Watch one of his other videos where he goes abroad to cook/eat different food it's cool to see his personality in those vids
He looks like a younger version of Harold.

Now we know where all that inner pain came from.

Don't want the American versions of Kitchen Nightmares. It's fucking trash compared to the British one. Too much reliance on "drama", and less on Ramsay actually fixing things.
When shit goes south in the British version, you tend to get the full rant, no cuts or spooky violins, just Ramsay shouting down a shit-tier chef.
Yeah, the American version is not as good. The UK version has some dramatic editing but it's a massive step down from the forced drama of the American version. No constant scare chord, and as far as I know they don't lie to you in editing like they do on the American version. I remember one tease for an American episode had an ambulance pulling up, and it was made out like there was going to be someone having to go to the hospital, and that was not the case at all when you actually watched it. Not to mention I hear the producers try to manufacture drama.
Also best thing about the UK version, the fucks are not bleeped out :v:
i mean there's a reason why these restaurants are failing, but you'd think someone would look up proper procedure for how to serve lettuce, much less grilling it, before they work as a chef there
but then that can be attributed to a failure of staff and owners not paying attention and/or giving a damn, too
90% of the time its exactly this though, they hire a "chef" and then let them do w/e
like the only restaurants that ever survive his show are the ones where the kitchen can be saved, usually the staff is not bad

My stepmom exclusively watches lots of those reality/drama TV shows and ever since I started picking up on the absurd use of the bowing cymbals and waterphones it became all I could hear any time she had the TV on.
i love gordon, kitchen nightmares and hell's kitchen are my tv shows to watch when i'm really sick and can't bother to get up

That entire video sounds like my upstairs neighbour vacuuming.

The cliffhanger commercial cuts for one drive me fucking nuts.
The cliffhanger commercial cuts for one drive me fucking nuts.
i dunno why literally every reality show has cliffhangers for commercials. it causes more frustration than the intended "I WONDER WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN" feelings it attempts to create.

it improves viewer retention
makes me want to abandon the whole channel tbh
