The first one is good. It'd be better if it weren't so plain. Plenty of people can walk up to a statue and tilt the camera slightly and click the shutters.
The other too, not really good at all. They're too close the the subject, and have too much noise.
Also, I noticed that the focus (of the 'energy' or whatever, not literally the focus of the camera) in all your pictures is really off balance. This is never a good thing to do with pictures. Keep your objects near the center of your work.
Hardly excellent, I have to agree you sounded a little cocky when you said that. A good start though, I'm looking forward to your improvement.

You really have no idea what you're talking about, do you? It's called the Rule of Thirds, Golden Ratio etc.
Centered things are rarely interesting, and often look terrible. Try it out yourself before retorting, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

"I've never done any kind of photography before."
This statement in conjunction with the quoted statement above bothers me. You say you have never done photography before but you talk about one photographic method like it's the only way to take pictures. While I agree that the person you had quoted had no idea what he was talking about, you aren't exactly in the right position to school him.
In regards to the actual pictures I like the first one but the second lacks composure and is to close to the subject and the third is uninteresting due to two thirds of the pictures being grey.
True, I was a bit too quick on the trigger there admittedly.

the rule of thirds (and its exceptions), which he cited, is pretty common knowledge, to be honest I see nothing with him doing that
additionally it's not photography or artist exclusive, a critic can talk about the rule of thirds because it relates to basic human nature in what we consider "art"
Only the first one is good i believe, but the composition would have worked better if you had him on the right side of the shot facing left. When you have a person facing the edge of a photo, it wont feel good to look at because people somehow interperate that as a wall, and it feels uncomfortable to look at someones face up against a wall.. kinda get what i mean?
Excellent pictures :D not smug.

Why? Because you and other pretentious assholes say so?
Why? Because you and other pretentious assholes say so?
No because it's true, god damn.
Nothing special, far from excellent... very far... The first is an interesting subject(the only one good to be honest) but a bad execution, it seems as if it wasn't focused properly for example.
First one is... ok imo... Second is annoying to watch, third one is... No
Eh, they're not really that excellent. The first one is the only decent one.
Shite photos from some arrogant kid who thinks his photos are the shit, because he has 12.1 MEGAPIXELS.

I can't wait for the satio to come out xD i know it's not going to be as good as a normal 12 mp camera , due to it's small lense size.. but dayum..
Instead of jerking yourself and calling them excellent straight off the title, you should be a little more humble and let the comments and criticism prove its worthiness. I personally, find the photographs uninteresting and positioned dead center. They're also quite grainy, which is something that can be improved on. Keep it up though, and you can only improve.
1 and 3 are a bit blurry, even at the parts that are supposed to be sharp. THe second one would've been more interesting with a different setup. Right now it doesn't really provide anything but flashy colours.
Everyone can do close-ups of statues. try something with a bit more composition. Add another subject to your frame and actually take the time to compose the photos. Granted you're allowed to compliment your own photo's I don't suggest you do so when displaying them, you don't see art in museums labeled 'GREATEST PIECE EVER.' It would probably be better if you just suggested your favorite of the bunch and let the criticism judge your photos.
Check out this fucking awesome can of 'Alkaline Drink' I made in photoshop :D :D

Seriously though, Being overconfident isn't usually a good sign for a photographer.

Sin, you truly are to smart for that avatar. Come to the request thread and let me or someone else make you a new one!
Alright, you're upset over me showing a bit of confidence. I wasn't trying to be an arsehole or anything, I just really like these photographs and not one of the dozens I've shown them to have said anything negative. So I concluded that they must be quite excellent.
The other guy kind of has a point. Maybe you should have said "Some photographs I am extremely proud of"?
