One more annoying question. What's the cheapest effective loadout?
GBB pistol, 2 mags and a flashlight.
Seriously though, you'll have to find what works for you.
Anyone know when KWA's Tokarev is coming out?
Ooh, the TM AKS74N looks hawt
god the fn2000 i linked to on last page costs 300 and the excact same costs 700 dollars in norway
I feel your pain, bro. It's the same up here in Canada.
I'd get gloves, because being shot in the hand, especially the knuckles, fucking hurts. I learned that on Saturday. My hand is bruised in six places (had gloves on at the time, just not reinforced ones), when some guy opened up on me full auto from two feet away.
You only got bruised from 2 feet away? Dude, some guy shot me on sunday in the knuckles from at least 20 feet and I was dripping blood (I noticed this when I saw my gun was nearly painted red), scabbed up quite quickly though. Oh wait, you were wearing gloves, lol, nvm then.
Get more midcaps. You can never have too many (says me). As far as callsigns, pick something easy to say. Flyin' Hawaiian is kinda long, and Derbear I have no idea how to pronounce. If you want to keep your callsign, its a good idea to use it instead of telling people your name.
Good point. Hrm...
As for the midcap suggestion, I agree, but I don't really have anything to carry them with. Suppose I could just use my brother. :V:
Hey, you ever get that girl's number? Haha.
Whoever was looking for SCARs: You can't go wrong (in almost any case) with DBoys; mine's still kickin' after being slammed into a tree, dropped in a mud puddle, buried in snow, and being left in my car for nearly a week. <3

A country where airsoft is more expensive than Canada? I don't believe it.
Hey, you ever get that girl's number? Haha.
Fuck you I was just being nice. Not like I'll ever have to see her again.

Also, use a man purse to carry mags. You'll be extra manly that way I promise.
im fully retarded when it comes to batterys.
I dont even understand the thing that ender said about the
battery mA / Charge rate = hours to charge.
i have a 1500 mAh battery
my charger has 2 settings, 1.8A and 0.9A
what do i set it to and how long
:downs:
I can't get it any time soon, methinks, but...
What's the best MP5SD5 I can get that isn't a Chinagun and doesn't shoot 450 FPS?
ICS series of MP5's are pretty good. Got to try out the A4 variant over the weekend and was very impressed with it.
Ender what's your channel again? I want to watch your review when you upload it.

Your easiest option is the JG and I know it doesn't fill out all of your requirements
Can someone explain coms and headsets to me?

Can someone explain coms and headsets to me?
Still a mystery to me, feel free to enlighten me as well.
Question.
What is the best, and the worst Airsoft gun manufacturer around? I know I'm asking for opinions, but please, don't just state name of a company. Explain why. Looking for quality against price kind of equations.
Oh, and I expect Cybergun to be the worst. I don't know a whole lot about Airsoft yet, but I do know they make some crap guns.
From what people are saying around here, Cybergun doesn't make guns, just priced up licensed stuff.
The "best" brand doesn't necessarily exist. It's a subjective debate over the best brand. There can onl really be good-great brands.
The "worst" brand has to be the shitty Wal-Mart clear plastic springers or something.
Worst: WELL, Double Eagle, BE (Except like, two of their guns), Aftermath (Again, except like, two of their guns).
Best: Systema, KWA, VFC, CAW, Airsoft Surgeon, WA, Ect.
It's really not a brand issue. From 'best' to 'worst':
Japan
Taiwan
Hong Kong
China
:v:
What would you guys suggest to someone whose brand new to airsoft?

It sounds like you might have a smart charger, if you do you don't have to manually measure how long it will take as it will just stop after it is fully charged. Do you have any pics or a link for it?

Don't have any data for you, but with the companies I (think I) know the most of:
High Tokyo Mauri
KWA
VFC
Mid G&G
ARES
~Low DBoys
Classic Army
Echo1
Low CYMA
Cybergun

Just in general: do a metric ton load of research (like SweetSifter up there), do more research, consider your budget wisely, listen in on forums and such, find something to look for (be specific, not "hai guiz wuts best gun?"; not saying that you are).
ICS series of MP5's are pretty good. Got to try out the A4 variant over the weekend and was very impressed with it.
I hear they're fairly good. When I asked about ICS guns at my local shop one time, though, they insisted it was a bad idea to get one because they were having supplier troubles with spare parts. Apparently they're not standard and you basically end up using a lot of proprietary replacements?
Also, do you know what the metal/finish is like? Is it anodized? The SDs have really huge, fugly orange tips, but I was hesitant to obliterate the suppressor's finish if it would be damaged by acetone/nail polish remover/what-have-you-method-here.
Your easiest option is the JG and I know it doesn't fill out all of your requirements
Why even comment, then? I already said I didn't want a Chinagun running 450 FPS in that small a package.

There isn't one specific company, safe for a few, that is either all quality or all garbage. Many do some things better than others. For instance, ARES is hit-and-miss, some of their products being better than others. VFC is generally a company you can't go wrong with. Japanese guns are usually ridiculously reliable, more than basically any other, but unless you play a lot of CQB, it can be difficult to bring them up to par with other companies' products in other regards unless you want to dump a lot of money into it.
There's a few general "ranges" of quality most companies cover. BE, DE, UTG, ect. are usually the lowest of the low. CYMA, JG, and Dboys are all good China clones with some "proline" type series that are apparently higher quality than the normal plastic-bodied ones. SRC/TSD is a good example of a rapidly improving company that makes a lot of good mid-range stuff. Classic Army, Tokyo Marui, ICS, ect. are all "high" range companies, as are VFC, ARES (avoid unless you know what you're doing), G&G (which has an excellent economy line of guns) and probably another one I'm forgetting. The "low" end clones are improving, but they're usually plastic, have lower QC on average, and are still not up to epic par in every way with the high end guns. If you're on a budget and want something reliable enough, though, go with one of these "clones." Look into CYMA AKs if you don't want to be typical and American-looking, or if you must have an M4, look into G&G's economical "combat machine" series.
Oh, and I expect Cybergun to be the worst. I don't know a whole lot about Airsoft yet, but I do know they make some crap guns.
Nay, there are other reasons to avoid EvilGun, lad. They've been trying to improve their reputation in part by putting out licensed rebrands of higher grade stuff like ICS, KA, and G&G guns.
It's really not a brand issue. From 'best' to 'worst':

Taiwan
Hong Kong
China
:v:
This is all very, very relative and only dubiously correct. Clones are becoming less crappy, Japan is outmoded, Taiwan is basically king, and I'd say HK is more a runner up or equal to Taiwan if anything.
What would you guys suggest to someone whose brand new to airsoft?
Depends. Are we talking guns, gear, something else?
Keep your head low and if you have great suggestions, don't blurt them out. Let everyone know subtlely a little bit at a time, or you'll end up like I did and being seen as the village idiot. Like Mooee said, lurk a bit and gather information first, and avoid "wot am best (X)" questions. Use Google or other to do some research before asking certain questions.
If you're talking guns, see my above explanation on companies and what to look for. If you would like gear, describe what look, gameplay style, ect. you're looking for and I could explain some good solutions. Chest rigs, vests with fixed pouches, and small, cheap plate carriers with MOLLE webbing are a good start. Never get a UTG crossdraw vest. Condor (sometimes called OE tech) is a good start for relatively inexpensive but effective gear.

He commented because it's still a viable option. Drop in a weaker spring. Think of that?

1. China
2. Plastic
3. No gearbox knowledge
4. Do not want to spend money for someone to just change a spring for me.
Bad idea. An ICS or other full metal MP5 would serve me better.

Wow. Just wow. All of the reasons you listed are ridiculous.
Chinese paint will give you cancer, I don't want a plastic gun, I know nothing about gearboxes to change springs (just disassembling my VFC royally borked it), and it would cost me money to take it to the shop to get a part switched out.
I fail to see how any of these, except maybe the first, aren't sensible.
I'm on Evike, and it looks like you can't go wrong with THIS.
I'm considering buying it considering it's that cheap and I currently have no pistol. It wouldn't be used for Milsim, but maybe for those fun games where you don't adhere to reality and just try to have fun. Thoughts?
EDIT: Obviously it will be shitty, as with every other $15 gun. But for the price, is it worth it?
I wouldn't trust it. Get a UHC 1911 instead.

If you want a well-made springer (not WELL-made, heh) get either the UHC M9 or the UHC 1911. They're wonderfully designed and are pretty much impossible to break through normal use.
"Full metal" on a spring pistol is honestly just a gimmick, especially if it's just the slide. It doesn't have a safety, the hammer doesn't function...overall, "eh".
http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?products_id=24249
This is the best spring gun I've handled for the money. The slide is one piece (seamless), has a functioning grip safety and frame safety that match the real 1911's, the single-action hammer works, and the internal design of the frame is much closer to the real thing than other springers (the UHC 1911 actually has a leaf spring and the trigger, grip safety, mainspring housing etc are analogous to the real one!)

Adding to my cart.
I'll get that along with 10,000 bb's or so, and maybe some gear as well at some point during the week.
Thanks.
