Holy shit some company must have bought the Elvin Knights Millipede design and is now marketing it as a paintball gun. Its basically a single shot derringer that uses Tanaka shotgun shells.

Im so pumped someone is still making these, Ive always wanted one, but was so disappointed when they were discontinued by EK after a TINY production run.
Old news in the paintball world. It also fires a scattershot BB shell. They also make this:

I was wondering if you guys could give me a suggestion on a gun to get.
What I'd like to get -
Something that has either the receiver/barrel or the forearm/stock metal
I'd prefer for it to be under $200 so I could get myself a sidearm and/or extra magazines
I have no idea which is better gas or battery powered so I'll leave that one up in the air.
I live in the US so that should narrow the sites down.
I'd prefer to buy new.
No preference on model.
My budget is flexible this is all just so I can get an idea on what I can get. (I'm saving up for a trip this summer so once I reach my savings on that I'll get heavily into airsoft)
If you really want to get a decent side arm, you may be paying a little more than $200. You'd also need to get a propane adaptor and silicone spray, and that'll run you another $30 or so. Just stick with an aeg now and maybe get an extra mag. I'd say go for a gbbr if you have the money, but they're expensive depending on how often you use it. But it looks like you said you'll be getting more money soon, so get the aeg now, and the pistol later.
Might I ask, what is an AEG?
Means it's powered by battery. Gbbr is gas blow back rifle.
Automatic Electric Gun.
Read a little higher and you'll know exactly what you should get, theres a lot of choices for people like you in that price range.
Also, should I go with an MP40 or a Thompson and also a brand to go with. It also matters as it usually does on how common mags are and the like. Or should I not go with either and go with a Grease Gun? I remember seeing one on redwolf and I believe it was under $250.
Is FPS an accurate measure of firepower? Or is there something more important to pay attention to?
I'd say it's one way, but look at distance as well. And another variable is how many grams the bbs weigh.
It is my understanding the battery voltage also makes a difference. I'm considering upgrading from an 8.4v to a 9.6v, as it apparently increases range and accuracy slightly, as well as fire rate. They even have 10.8v ones.

I think it only has an effect on rate of fire

I've read it yields a 5-10% increase in accuracy and range from 8.4v to 9.6v
Based on how the gearbox works, there is no way that the voltage would increase accuracy and/or range.

That is incorrect. The accuracy of an airsoft gun isn't dictated by anything the battery touches (Accuracy is dictated by barrel and hop up), range is also dictated by hop up and barrel, and to a lesser extent, the spring/gearbox compression.
Yeah from what I know voltage doesn't make your gun shoot further, but faster. I only use 8.4v as they aren't as hard on the gun.

This would be great (I have one): http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_211&products_id=4342
Unfortunately, with bb's, a battery and charger it's going to run over your budget. You probably won't be able to afford a pistol quite yet.
KJW makes pretty good pistols for the price: http://www.airsoftgi.com/index.php?cPath=139_25_86
Is FPS an accurate measure of firepower? Or is there something more important to pay attention to?
FPS is just how fast the bb is moving when it leaves the barrel. For better distance you want things like a good hop-up and a barrel. Most fields require you to have guns within a certain frame for FPS. Some fields do -400 for AEG's and -450 for bolt action sniper rifles.
How to measure firepower:
Disregard FPS
Add RPM
Add effective range
Add accuracy
??????
PROFIT!!!
You don't need fps, it's just so people can feel or hear the bbs better, and so the bullet travels faster.
I like fast BB's :(
The closer to the real weapon it feels, the happier I'll be. I'm gonna pick up an actual Kalashnikov in November, though.
Well just remember that the higher the FPS, the harder it is on your guns internals. I like keeping my guns around 350-400. Some like it higher.
I have this dinky spring FAMAS that I bought at Fry's. It fires at about 300 FPS and even that seems adequate. 400 should be luxurious.
My CM fires consistently around 330-340 FPS.
What would a good replacement barrel for the CM028, and a good guide on how to replace it be? I'm interested in adding accuracy to it to get an edge on my friends and haven't done. Evike please, since I will add that in to my current order.
So I own this

That's normal.
Should i be sticking a bent clothes hanger down my barrel to get a jammed bb out?
or will it like scratch the fuck out of it

You'll scratch the fuck out of it.

oops :v:
the brass/copper inner barrel is really fucking soft, so don't jam any other metals down there
