If you were building your own house.. what special features would you add? - General

When I build a house, I'm going to have a garage built in to the living room so that I can drive/store a nice vehicle(s) there. Owning a Lamborghini/Ferrari/Maybach and being able to see it behind glass/underneath you would be amazing. I've been thinking about this for a bit. Definitely surround sound in every room. Each room has it's own volume control and input jack/ iphone connector and has a master remote for volume. Obviously ethernet cable in every room, make sure to run two lines to every room so you can use those HDMI to ethernet converters. A small closet to store TV receivers/servers so they are out of sight. Radiant heating, and zoned A/C (each room has separate controls, once again with a master remote system incase you want to set every room to one temp). And a nice home theater, with movie chairs descending like in theaters. Invest in a good HD projector as well. I, personally, would love my house to have a colonial/office kind of feel to it. Oh and before I forget, a home gym. Possibly a spa as well?

I would definitely run lots of conduit all over the house leading to a central hub. Allows for easy to access wiring and networking. All you gotta do then is grease the pipes, and thread a cable the length of the house with no hastle or need to dig anything up.

Those wall outlets with USB ports built in. I would have those in the living room, kitchen, and by the beds in the bedrooms. Basically anywhere you would plug in your phone to charge most often away from a computer. Also, a small ventilated closet where I would set up my router, splitters, and such. I would also put a home media server in there that I could remotely access from my phone, computers, and from something attatched to my tvs. That way I could store all of my music and movies on it and access them from anywhere.

Hey Garry, that house looks great, is the pool inclosed or outside? One little change I would make is that you should make the cinema and family/games room all one long room. Have a projector and a small stage at one end, and stagger the seating like a movie theater. I'm sure they sell collapsible movie chairs so when you aren't watching a movie, you can then use the whole room.
