I think these short-ish flashes recently are basically what Andrew was trying to do at the very beginning. Does anyone remember the "Homestuck Beta" where it was entirely flash and went on for like six pages before Andrew started over in Photoshop? I think this is a nice blend of classic MSPA and what he was trying to get at there. It works well!
I actually thought the silent flash for the flash where Rose looked into the ball was a lot better than if there was music because it really amplifies the fact that hey use your eyes
Speaking of Rose, I am pretty sure Rose is going to get herself killed at this point. I think that [I]all[/I] of the four main characters are going to get themselves killed. It's already happened to John and Dave once. Jade and Rose haven't actually died yet if you don't count the futures where they just sort of stop existing. If Rose goes through this whole story without dying at least once then I will, oh, hold on, okay, if Rose lives until the end of the story then

Jade was killed in Davesprite's alternate timeline by a meteor. If that counts.
