She said that he is her grandson, but if the guardians really did come from a previous universe and session that was reset from a Scratch, then the new players of the second-reset universe are likely to be the descendants of the kids in the same way. When Rose was talking about her mother she stated that she knew that her mother had ability and knowledge far beyond what she appeared to have, plus her connections to the SkaiaNet Laboratory seems to support this theory.
It would be neat to see what the new planets are, if they're different from the current planets.

This would support the stable time loops. Jade's grandson, technically, would be John if she is Grandma. Dad would be Johns brother as well.

The point of the Scratch is to reset the universe with more favorable conditions for success. This could mean that human culture develops much differently in order for the kids to win. Bro was prepared for when Dave would come crashing down on a meteorite, Grandpa Harley was seen alive in the session, Nannasprite stated that she climbed an echeladder, and Rose's mom was able to move blindingly fast and had an underground tunnel built to the SkaiaNet Laboratory. John's dad had the least knowledge, with his being the culmination of investigations and newspaper clippings about strange meteorite strikes throughout the years, plus the version of Colonel Sassacre's that John was found with that contains Nanna's message to him.
The trolls' culture seems to suggest that their ancestors also initiated a Scratch, as the trolls are taught to be good at architecture from a very early age, and their entire culture trains them to become strong warriors, but nobody knew why this was. Knowing Hussie I'm probably way off though.
