i don't have any attachments to the past ghostbusters, i have never seen then, my only knowledge of them come from avgn/james
Go watch the proper Ghostbusters
i'm planning to watch them this weekend,a friend gave me his blu ray copies a week ago but i haven't gotten around to it
Certified fresh? Holy shit helixsnake you were right, out goes RT credibility
bop edit: finally the only review that matters
Both RT and Metacritic should be taken with a grain of salt. Let you as an individual decide if this movie's worth your time. If the trailers aren't doing it for you? Skip it. If they do and yet the reviews are less than 60/100? Go with your gut and take a leap of faith!

But that's just it - they're close friends whom you know you share views and taste with - so their opinions are worth far more than reviews online.
i almost feel bad for my brother, he wants to go see this. [sp]no skin off my wallet however[/sp]
search twitter for "ghostbusters" and "empty". apparently a lot of people reporting seeing the movie in empty theaters.
Yep: [t]http://img.pr0gramm.com/2016/07/16/0b787bf882571827.jpg[/t] I wonder if this is true for all the theaters showing?
Not surprised, I haven't seen many commercials for the movie.
apparently full seats at certain theaters, but the only one i've heard was the one at disney.
Land or World?
Not surprised, I haven't seen many commercials for the movie.
I've seen a shit load of branding commercials on cable TV with Papa Johns and some other brand which I forget.
Hell I saw this watching TV last night.
Hell I saw this watching TV last night.
You know your movie is a corporate whore when it's used to advertise insurance.
Hell I saw this watching TV last night.
This is actually an interesting thing I've seen pointed out before: Notice how none of the new cast are seen or referenced in this? In fact, how it could theoretically be about original Ghostbusters instead with no real changes needed? I'd actually be rather interested in seeing the skew between Ghostbusters promotional stuff which explicitly hypes the new movie and ones which vaguely promote the concept of Ghostbusters. Because almost all of the media I've seen has fallen into the latter camp, which kind of tells me that someone in marketing doesn't trust the film to sell without almost 'tricking' people concerning the contents by downplaying the new stuff in favor of the source material.
apparently full seats at certain theaters, but the only one i've heard was the one at disney.
No matter how many seats they need 3 fat SJWs don't count as a "full theatre"
I saw it. You need to go in with the mindset that this is not going to be a ghostbusters movie, it's going to be a typical comedy with some things from ghostbusters in it. The four main characters have no depth and are very forgettable, but the movie has its actually funny jokes. It's enjoyable up till the movie remembers it's supposed to be a ghostbusters movie and then it just turns into a big dumb mess like a star wars prequel fight scene. All in all, it's not a complete trainwreck, nowhere near the quality of the original, but it's not franchise imploding bad. FULL DISCLAIMER: I also liked Ghostbusters II.
If you have to go into a Ghostbusters movie with the mindset that its not a Ghostbusters movie, than its already a failure and deserves to bomb.
oh no I hope this shit doesn't get a sequel, if the thing about slimer getting his own movie is true I hope the whole cinematic universe gets canned it should stay an odd, one time thing to add to the list of odd, one time things in ghostbusters, like Extreme Ghostbusters
Certified fresh? Holy shit helixsnake you were right, out goes RT credibility
It's a statistic that's based on what critics think of the movie. RT is credible is a sense where it reports the critic consensus of the movie.

Also, i dont tihnk any other films in the low 70% range have a "certified fresh" rating. [editline]17th July 2016[/editline] The audience score is a 56% and dropping fast. [editline]17th July 2016[/editline]
]As opening day approaches, Feig can’t help but think about the stakes of making a $150 million movie. “A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that’s probably low,” he says.
AAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA.
The audience score is a 56% and dropping fast.
idk why people are giving this that much credibility. you do realize a large portion of the people spamming this 1/10 on these sites probably haven't even seen it, right lol. This film has a pretty large amount of people online that want to see it burn after all.
Also, i dont tihnk any other films in the low 70% range have a "certified fresh" rating.
nah it happens sometimes. 70 is apparently meant to be the cut off, so yeah. Maybe 400 at best if this ends up popular internationally.
yeeeee i don't think 500 mill is happening lol. Maybe 400 at best if this ends up popular internationally.
Bro its only made 46 million. Internationally. In its opening weekend. Its fucked. [editline]17th July 2016[/editline] Hell it cant even beat out the Secret Life of Pets movie in its opening weekend, and Suicide Squad is coming out in a few weeks. This is going to bomb spectacularly and blow up in Sonys face.

This is how the tomatometer works. Instead of subtly accusing it of something it's innocent of, research on how the Tomatometer actually works.
Bro its only made 46 million. Internationally. In its opening weekend. Its fucked.
uh 46 domestically here in the states, 65 internationally. But I'm pretty sure all of the international counts don't come in entirely until like monday or tuesday following the weekend, so I'd wait till then to actually say for sure. But yeah it's not got a chance in hell of breaking 500 ~imo~

Instead of subtly accusing it of something it's innocent of, research on how the Tomatometer actually works.
I agree but it is worth noting that sometimes they are weird about awarding it for films that are on the threshold like this. take this for instance: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_bfg_2016 the average rating between reviews is a 6.7, that's even higher than the 6.5 that ghostbusters currently has. So it is a bit weirdly subjective at times. But as long as it doesn't drop below 70 and they still call it fresh then I wouldn't call foul regardless.
Really? I read 46 million internationally.
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id=ghostbusters2016.htm note how the foreign page isn't filled in yet with a full break down. usually that all gets filled in on either monday or tuesday, and the cash totals jump a bunch then. I'm not saying it's out of the question this could tank, I'm just saying at least wait until we get the full stats for the first weekend in. Tho even then I'd also want to see how it holds up on it's second weekend, since how well a film does on subsequent weekends is a huge part in determining its success.
