The "jews" (although it was really jewish leaders and pharisees that wanted him dead) were the ones that wanted to kill him, although they couldn't because the Romans had control over them, and they couldn't really kill anyone themselves without being persecuted themselves unless it was a woman or very lowly person. The jewish people of the time probably did not do many of the things that had supposedly done (ie: taunt him as he carried his cross, crowded around him and mocked him as he died, etc.) because at the time Romans were killing jews left and right, hanging them on crosses that surrounded the path leading into jerusalem, and the Jewish populace did not want have anything to do with the deaths of their religion/race. There are so many things wrong with what people know about religion that it makes me angry to some point, but at the same time i don't feel like educating everyone about it because 1) nobody cares and 2) it doesn't matter. It is mainly the fact that people can't get their facts straight that irks me the most.
