At the beginning I thought it's going to unfold the totally usual way, and we'll get a copy of ending from previous season. Glad that last 20 minutes changed and twisted all of that.
[sp]I simply adore how the writers took the only thing we knew for sure (Harrow is the masterfully skilled marksman), and basically threw it into the trash
And how death of the daughter was one of the most unpredictable things, that maximally twisted the story. It makes me wonder if Chalky is out for good, or he will appear in next season. Is he gonna build an army against Doctor? Seems predictable and easy.
But what happened with Doctor, my god - it was perfect. Sitting in a jail and being threaten of deportation by white male. Losing everything or dignity and essentially sell his ideas for freedom. The last dialogue "Yes... sir." has shown how really powerful Hoover is (even if he is focused on communism, racism and not organized crime), and what made Narcisse a great villain. I'm really glad they didn't kill him.
And ending things with Capone and Torrio - I'm really glad they decided to stick to historical accuracy and showed them as friends. Next season is gonna show us Capone being the boss of Chicago and Cicero, finally. With van Alden being his third man. Scene with Eli and van Alden was also one of the best. They recognized each other, and they both know that due to their good and bad decisions they wind up in such place. And now they have to deal with consequences, make the best out of given situation. Aren't they going to team up, and if I recall historically go to Detroit? That would be so awesome.
And finally, Harrow. I almost cried. Because it was like taking a child a candy, then giving it back only to prove that there was no candy inside. For a moment when I saw Harrow in the train I was so happy, even that I knew it was wrong with series formula. Later when the camera was shaking and he had a full face, Jesus. In a way, it was the best and only way to close that story arc. As much as I like Harrow it was time to say goodbye. What a great way to close the story of one of the best characters in the history of television.[/sp]
Amazing season, with even more potential for next. I cannot wait.
Damn ending, so great. I'm so hyped for next season.
This was an amazing season. Like, fucking really amazing!
[sp]I knew what would happen with Richard when (he started saying goodbyes) I saw the look on his face after fucking up. My feeling was only confirmed when he walked to that family house, everyone being happy..[/sp]
Song very related:

I found Narcisse's [sp]self-degradation disgusting in terms of morality and honor, but strong on the story and character development side.[/sp]
Wow. Amazing.
This season was probably the best season they have done so far, I think.
I was really sad that [sp]Harrow died[/sp], however I think the way the character left was amazing.
The only thing that I would of loved, and would of been some nice fan service, would be if [sp]Jimmy was on the train or something or at the porch maybe, just giving Harrow a simple nod or something, it just felt like it was going to happen since Jimmy was mentioned several times in the episode[/sp]
One more thing about the last episode.
There's a lot of people bashing the writers about [sp]Harrow's hands shaking during the sniping action. That was not bad writing, Harrow changed. He hesitated, because he didn't want to kill anymore. But he made a promise, so he took the shot. Shit happens though. And his reaction was not off the character either, he would not be able to live with an innocent woman's blood on his hands (even worse that it was his friends daughter; I'm not sure if he knew that, but that's not important anyway).[/sp]

I love it, because it was even foreshadowed earlier this season but people has forgot about it. [sp]Remember the dog, and how he was unable to kill him? He didn't kill anyone after that, and even before that he was hesitating.[/sp]
[sp]Richard stopped being the unstoppable murder machine earlier in the season. It's why he couldn't kill that Colonel Sanders looking guy, why he ditched his gun when he got to his sisters, and why he was shaking at the end. He changed, he wanted to stop being death and just start living. But he also needed a favour from Nucky.
Oh and Eli and van Alden recognizing each other, man that was great. Next season is going to be amazing[/sp]
[sp] After all he's done for Jimmy's son, he went out like a freaking hero in my eyes. Regardless of maybeline[/sp]
I regret watching it while half asleep last night, but [sp]I was wide awake and cheering on Eli through that fight scene[/sp]
I think the fight scenes in Boardwalk Empire are some of the best choreographed and best filmed fight scenes I've ever seen. Just how intense they are really gets you invested into the scene
also, [sp]I thought Harrow was just injured from one of Narcisse's men, and he bled out under the boardwalk, he didn't kill himself[/sp]
also, [sp]I thought Harrow was just injured from one of Narcisse's men, and he bled out under the boardwalk, he didn't kill himself[/sp]
Because he was but [sp]his injury probably wasn't fatal, if he managed to find a doctor in time. Insted he preferred to go under the boardwalk and die there few hours later. He probably lost his will to live, after he killed an innocent girl.[/sp]
Also I don't know if its correct but isn't the [sp]spot where he died the place where he and Julia first slept together?[/sp]
[sp]I still can't get over Richard Harrow's death properly, even though I think his story arc had pretty much came to an end, I just so badly wanted to see him go home alive to his new wife and family. I know it's a show and it's more entertaining for the viewer to see tragedy rather than happiness, but for this one time I would have loved to had seen him make it out alive.[/sp]
Really looking forward to season 5, even if season 4 was a bit of a bore in places. I've been trying to find shows to replace Boardwalk Empire for now but none even come close to the character development of this. A simply incredible show, but I've heard about season 5 being the last.
Just finished the season a few nights back.
Ouch. Right in the feelings.
God damnit Tin-man :( [sp]My friend thinks he didn't necessarily die but fuck.. he's dead, that's for sure. Right guys?[/sp]
But in general, this series has some pretty damn impressive realistic deaths and shootings.
Yep, I find the death scenes strangely satisfying.
P.S. Not a murderer.
P.S. #2 At least not yet.
That's the saddest news I heard all day - Boardwalk Empire will end after next (fifth) season
I'm really sad that it will go. Last season was top notch, but in one way I understand it - it stopped being about Nucky Thompson; for a main character he was one of the blandest recently.
I hoped that we will see how gangsters in America will evolve until WWII, or at least until prohibition ends. Unless next season will be rushed, we won't see Al Capone's rise to power and fall, Rothstein's conclusion and more Luciano and Lensky, and plenty of other historical figures that still didn't have any occasion to shine. What's more there are still fictional characters like Van Alden, Eli, Chalky and Narcisse, and they still need conclusion.
Spinoff would be the best option.
Everything has to end eventually. I'm sure the last season will be great (but fast).
I'd rather see it end before it starts going Dexter.
Man I'm really sad. What good shows are left :(

The fifth season is the final season.
I love this song.
I wonder if the rumours about next season ([sp]Seven year time jump[/sp]) are real. I'm kinda divided - it will certainly spice things up, but it's rarely done well in any media.
I'd like to when it air's.

The rumours were true, it's [sp]year 1931, at least according to Facebook page[/sp]

Man it's gonna be sad seeing this show go.
Full trailer is out

I have only one worry - the sudden shift on Lucky Luciano. Does it mean that (History spoilers about characters real fate)[sp]because of the time jump they omitted Rothstein's fall and eventual death? That sucks, I waited four seasons for that.[/sp]
Season 5 reviews are very positive. Can't wait!
Man I'm going to be so sad when it's over. Loads of great shows ending.
Disappointed that they decided to kill off Rothstein off-screen
