Wait, this video says you can't kill Level 10 government officials, so what the fuck level are senators?
Level 90's with +10 Swords of Old People.
is 2 better than 1? I herd it explains some of The Purge Universe better
purge 1 is a shit, purge 2 is a shit that doesn't smell as bad.
This video does a good job of explaining how absolutely fucking stupid the purge is.
A lot of movies have a stupid premise but are executed well enough to be a good movie.
I heard the second one was actually kind of not shit.
Wait. This isn't the 2nd film?
Shows how much I know about the Purge series.
I've seen more interesting Purge fan fictions compared to the actual movies. The story is half-assed and written by someone with the mind of a day-dreaming 12-year old in class. Same as thinking about saving everyone from a school shooter.
It seems horror today is more about murder than having actual psychological terrors happening. Everyone is numb at the idea of death and more gore is just gross.
One idea I came to like would've been just a guy putting on a Go-Pro camera and going around, filming all the events taking place.

Honestly if it isn't Death and Gore, it's cheap rape shock just to shock people. It's worse because it makes the film much more uncomfortable than the good kind of uncomfortable.

Suspension of disbelief is hard to do when your concept is so extreme. If your idea is overtly silly but you tackle it with a serious angle, it's fucking stupid.

Films like It Follows and The Witch are some of the only recent horror I can think of that aren't following a shitty trend.
It'll never happen, but I just want something as unnerving as Mulholland Drive again. Suspense and psychological creep factor is way more engaging than shock.

Well, it isn't really playing up the absurdity of whats going on, but it comes down to execution, and The Purge never really points out how absurd it is.
The Purge had such potential to be an amazing film, but it was just turned into a dumb "uh-oh he's in the house" film. The second one is better but I'm sick of the whole creepy masked people doing cult shit. The idea of the Purge is fascinating and exciting but I don't think that they've executed it (heh) very well. This film looks decent but they seem to be going for creepy masked people again and that screams meh to me. There's a sense of "oh shit" when the emergency broadcast happens, and if they manage to keep that throughout the whole film then I'm excited but I doubt they will.
Are they going to keep doing the "spooky mask person stares and tilts head at camera" thing to death?
Unless thats already happened.
It was dead before the purge was even an idea in a scriptwriter's head and it's a putrid carcass by now
Wait, this video says you can't kill Level 10 government officials, so what the fuck level are senators?
That's the rule but as plenty of people have already observed since no one is actually enforcing any laws that night nothing technically stops you if you can find one, kill their bodyguards and kill the Senator.
I mean, you're wearing a mask so what chance do they have of identifying you if you manage to do it?
Or maybe Senators are like an 8 or a 9 I dunno. That sounds dumb.
The entire thing doesn't work. People would commit arson and entire cities would burn down and start wild fires.
the fact that it takes place in 2020ish which is far to early for something like this to be passed maybe 2030ish
If Trump is elected i'm sure he'd be all for 1 night a year dedicated to killing off the poorer populous :v:
Saw the trailer last night when I saw Deadpool, I was just smiling cause it made me think of Rick and Morty.
You know what makes no sense? During the purge you're not allowed to go after level 10 or higher government officials BUT during the purge all crime is free game so fuck that rule, right?
I had an idea for a Purge movie once. The first fifteen to twenty minutes of the movie would follow some edgelord high schoolers prepping themselves for the Purge. This is the footage trailers would show. Then, when they finally get outside to participate in the Purge, they're instantly killed by some other guys. The camera then switches to an overhead shot, and pans a few blocks away, and introduces some nerds who are trying to illegally download a movie or some shit. Dunno how I'd be able to drag that out for an hour though.
During the purge, some dudes at Valve/Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo/EA make all downloadable games free.
Yo the purge needs to be real.
Honestly, I can't hate the purge. It's a very fun franchise (other than the first one) that steps somewhere between horror and action with hilariously hamfisted symbolism. It's just a good old fashioned "big dumb action movie" that's completely honest with itself with what it is.

No, if you go after a level 10+ government official and you get caught doing it you go in the slammer even after the purge is over
