not todays music thats for sure
This is great and all but since she was deaf since birth...how does she speak so well? Like, I thought people who were deaf have some sort of speech impediment.
Give that woman some Pendulum
How did she know how to speak correctly? Aren't deaf people shitty at talking?
I always wanted to see how blind people will react when they see how everything looks. Their mind would explode.
its mo'fuggin SCIENCE up in this bitch!!!!!
Apparently someone missed the point and is completely retarded
Flawed logic is flawed. It's like saying "hey that one guy can run again because he has prosthesis for his legs ! LET'S ALL CUT OFF OUR LIMBS SO WE ALL HAVE PROSTHESIS INSTEAD".
What? This video is about letting a woman hear that's never been able to hear before, not that someone created something that is better than the human body.
Trans-humanism should be limited to these cases where people actually need it
Which is what the video is about. Goddamnit, your fucking retarded.
An even if someone created something that was better than what people were given at birth, let them choose if they want their better hearing or eyesight. It can be used for both the people who need it and the people who want it. Botox is used for medical purposes and people use it to look younger. Stop being a dick.
You'd probably tell me i'm contradicting myself when i'm just providing multiple arguments from multiple points of view.
My hearing is augmented

I only agree partially.
If someone wants to hack off their perfectly functioning limbs that's not okay, but if someone wants to replace their lungs, heart, liver, etc when they get old that's perfectly fine with me, those organs get worn down the older you get and it only makes you feel like crap.
May I ask, why it's "not ok"? It's my body, and if I want to upgrade it, who are you to stop me?
[editline]1st October 2011[/editline]
I contradict myself..
I can't even begin to imagine how amazing it would be to hear music for the first time like this. Like a classical movement or something. That's something I will never get to experience.
I just love her reaction to this. Must be mind-blowing to just suddenly get a new sense.
I have a really great idea for a game based loosely on this type of thing. But I wont be one of those guys.
what
Give that woman some Pendulum
On second thought her ears would explode in an instant if that happened, better start her off with some other good music that doesn't quite cause eargasms

So dubstep.
Profoundly Deaf
Can you hear this?
not gonna cry I'm not gonFUCK
What sort of music would you let a person hear if they have NEVER heard music ?
I'd go for classical music.
I would say definitely do it,you can't loose anything
Without the implant, say when asleep, you won't be able to hear at all. Right now I can hear very barely without my hearing aids and make out the words when I'm being woken by someone. So there is something that I'd lose. (Not possible to get it back once it's removed)
Can you hear this?
Yeah with my hearing aids, with the help of my SmartLink you can plug it right into the pc, which transmits the signal wirelessly up to 30 meters anywhere, say a bathroom :3

I listen to classical, it's most relaxing for me.
Late, but I did not expect her to sound normal.
Give that woman some Pendulum
I don't think she wants to be made deaf again.

I was answering the guy about all that h+ bullshit. You can repair people when they're damaged, you can't improve them. At least not on a huge worldwide mainstream trend. If anything, actual augmentations will be limited to the military, your average man will have to stay with prosthesis like the ones in the video that just give him back what he misses;

Well that enters into the reparation domain we are already working on today. But seriously, fucking tearing your own limbs apart just so you can have fancy augs instead ? For the mainstream public ? Barely plausible. In the best case the augmentations will be so expensive they will be reserved to either the extremely rich, or the military, and will only be applied to an elite whatsoever.
How did she know how to speak correctly? Aren't deaf people shitty at talking?
You can train without hearing yourself, only on people's feedback. She's like 30 years old, she had time to practice.
Also she says like three words
Profoundly Deaf
Sorry to hear
I don't think she wants to be made deaf again.
Eh, some of their older stuff is decent.
The rest, well it's honestly junk.

Well, most technology was at first only used by the military, or based on military tech.
Also, why can't we improve ourselves? Of course we can, once the technology is avaible., in fact we should!
What sort of music would you let a person hear if they have NEVER heard music ?

One of each type. Probably start off with something easy to listen to, like Classical or Jazz, then ease into some of the more complex stuff.
I don't understand how she can be speaking so well
Funny that she can talk so well despite the fact that shes been deaf for most of her life.
can your god do this? i dont think so
