So you're saying she has heard people speaking before?
Probably more like a vague muffled distant sound than an actual regular voice. She might just be gifted with learning and kinda had around 26 years of her life dedicated to learning how to talk without hearing herself based on people's reactions and such.
I love this video, I spotted it randomly on YouTube a few days ago, but I always love reading peoples reactios on FP. I still don't understand how she could understand what she was saying when she turned it on, but maybe I missed something.
Not to be an asshole, but I kinda think this is fake. I mean the girls reaction seems legitimate, but wouldn't 29 years of not being able to properly sound out words due to lack of hearing make her, well, still have the same problem immediately after activation of the hearing device? Just a thought. I'm not saying the whole video is faked, I'm simply saying it seems more likely to me that she has been able to hear before.
She's had hearing aids since she was 2.
I believe this is her on Ellen http://www.wimp.com/deafwoman/
