Track 3 is really nice
Here is part one of my track by track review
Andy Lajeunesse - Lakeside
At somewhat of a random track ordering, this track worked out perfectly for the intro tune. Starting of really calm and progressively making way for whatever the next track brings. Very calm and repetitive, but saying that in the best way possible. Love the ambient feel.
Glitchman - Hazelnut Hustle
Oh man that percussion and that piano almost feel like they don't belong in the same track, but once that synth came in it all feels more in place. Liking the variety in the synth, some nice pads and bells. Can't go wrong with some of that. At this point the track confidently swings back to how it started out.
UnknownDude/Brotherworks - Keyboard Blues
Really nice intro, not let down by that synth either. Really great feel to this one so far, loving the groove in this tune. I like how the keyboard took over the synth, adding some nice variety. Good use of dropping out some instruments. I was waiting for that synth to come back, the part after the pitch drop is great. The second bit of this tune is even more awesome.
Holy Helix - Lights.sfv
Some good use of atmosphere in this intro, digging the subtle percussion. Took a while but i can finally hear some different percussion which is nice. That wind-type sound in the back makes a nice edition to the feel of this song. I really like the feel when it's the only thing aside from the percussion riding out the end of the track.
It.Begins - Sick
Really short track here, but no fault in that, it feels very necessary after following those few tracks. Another crazy atmospheric and glitchy feel on this one too.
Rich209 - The Dark Forest
Ah yes, The Dark Forest. Very different feel from almost everything on this entire collab, really great job on this one. Reminds me of something you'd hear in one of those crazy dramatic musicals, or in the background of this year's top hit action thriller. Love it man, great piece.
Wake The Phantom - Lost In The Balance
Well, the only thing I'm going to say about my own track is that it sticks out like a sore thumb, much faster and in your face than any of the tracks to this point.
Hazefyer - Frequencies
Enjoying the synth work and percussion in this tune. Overall nice feel to the beat. Not much else for me to say really.
Morgan Hicks - Today
Really like that piano at the very beginning. When the beat drops in it feels way overpowering, but overall nice groove to this one. Nice use of percussion to drop out from the 4-4 to halftime. That kick and snare are like basically the only thing I feel driving this tune. Nice work.
Cassette Dance - Turtle In The Sand
Really nice ambient feel to this one, very subtle, again a nice change of pace that is much needed. I really like the direction this track takes towards the end.
xZombine - Perception
I can already tell this is going to be something crazy just by the first couple seconds, I was not fooled either. Waiting on that sick drop. Oh man, not as heavy of a drop as I was expecting but still pretty awesome, I like that arpy synth. Enjoying the vocal piece when the tune fades out, very good feel on this one as well.
Casey Kay - Djur E Kul
Because this track is in a different language I really can't tell if it is to be taken seriously or not, but goddamn it makes me want to go do shit. And I have shit that needs to be done, so I will continue these later. This is the perfect track to go out on.
Wicked stuff so far guys, mind you all I've already listened to a chunk of every track to make sure they all worked before I uploaded them but after getting the chance to listen to them in full has been quite an experience. As usual I feel these Facepunch collabs have collected some really awesome music.
I shall return with more sub-par reviews in the near future.
Hikita - Lilith's Death & Rebirth
Always dug that classic Hakita retro metal sound.. double kicks all the way, oh shit too many kicks. fuk.. oh god finally i can stop rocking out and take a breather. Really like the build up section around 2:00, lots of variety in this section. Actually in this track in general, lots of stuff going on, very unique to this style of sound and is quite well done. I like what you did with the section beyond 5:00. The section at 7:25ish is really groovy. Lot's of things that can be said about this one, it's definitely one for those who are into that ps1 era rpg music.
Hullu V3 - Unchained
I like this intro, but it gets much better at the 0:45 mark. I feel like there isn't much left I can say after spilling everything into Hakita's track which is unfortunate that they are of a similar caliber, but it is a confident track and nicely put together.
Irene - And Writers Block Will Be The Death Of You
After previewing the tunes, and getting to this track, I found myself saying "Oh, here we go." This track is one of the few that has it's own place on the album and adds a really nice change of pace. As someone who has recently gotten into hip hop I can really dig the feel on this one. I really like the way the tune gets distorted towards the outro. I feel like some of those crazy screeching effects are much louder than necessary, which may be intended. Great track nonetheless.
Bullseye - Fallen
Was already liking this one from the intro but that drop man. Something more up my alley, I can get down with this one. Another pretty confident, solid tune. Short and sweet, a great way to keep them coming back!
deggie - That Ain't No Scooter
Wait, wasn't I just listening to this song? baaaa i'm just kidding. This is actually pretty nice, I've always liked metal mostly for its instrumentals, so it's nice that these collabs have a fair number of such tracks.
Eyefunk - Syssalnos
Nice calm intro, I can dig it. Oh shit I forgot I was cooking food, brb.
Dat glitch. This track I'm not so sure about, it almost feels like one huge build up and then kind of just falls of at the end. I like it though.
Gross - On A Wire
Oh nice, the groove on this one is great. What could possibly be thrown my way? A hit of funk? I can dig it man. And of course, the classic tempo dropping outro. Nice tune!
Bytecry - Safe
I think this was another one of those tunes I knew I was really going to enjoy. And yes, it is that one. Love that slightly bitcrushy synth, and some classic house chords to fill in the background. This has everything it needs to be one of those house tracks, another genre that I've slowly been coming around to.
Chippers - Underground
Liking the progression in this intro.. Nice use of that piano.. I feel a switch up coming up, still waiting for it.. This track is playing with my mind I swear. Woah suddenly it's a different track completely. I like all the different sections in this one, but sadly I've already written too much about these longer tracks with different sections, another confident track though.
2hushit - Litany of Woes
I am always on board with a track once I hear an amen break. It mixes really well with the synth work and ambience of the intro. Interesting way of dropping the track. I think I would have maybe enjoyed this way more if it was just that intro/break for 4 minutes.
Tuliq - Leaves
Ahhh, thank you once again for giving me a break from the electronic stuff. Wow this is really soothing. I can picture someone with their guitar by the fireplace in their living room while the window is blurred by downpour.
Vedicardi - Do You Like Me Now
Oh god this track, this track is great. Has a bit of a ska feel to it which I can occasionally can get down to. Your voice reminds me of Billie Joe.. do you like me now?
Visceral - Caps Lock
Probably one of my more personally hyped tracks on this album, reminds me of Feed Me meets Deadmau5, which is not a bad thing at all. Solid, confident, awesome groove. I really enjoy this tune. This one makes a really great end to another overall enjoyable Facepunch collab.
lol we still get less and less people caring about this. maybe it's time for a video collaboration or something (ugh)
maybe we should make some amvs
i call down with the sickness, tpain u can have let the bodies hit the floor
lol we still get less and less people caring about this. maybe it's time for a video collaboration or something (ugh)
I think it's because the general discussion gets flooded with all the chat and megathreads. I know I only visit this section very rarely now due to this reason.
Hey just calling to say the album on the whole is spectacular, you guys have gotten a whole bunch better since the first and second ones.
Yeah, I remember back when the first ones happened, they were really ordinary, even the 2011 collab was leagues behind this one.
find it in hakita's thread in the musician gig room or w/e its called
Needs more twerk songs.
Cool tracks, guys! Nice work!

To those who have participated, its been fun as usual, looking forward to the next one!
Here are my reviews:
Andy Lajeunesse - Lakeside
Pretty chill, but I feel like it really lacks something. It seemed like a lot of build-up for no payoff.
Regardless, its well produced and a fitting intro.
Glitchman - Hazelnut Hustle
I like the chiptune-y sounds combined with the airy piano. It's a nice combination and works really well.
Melodies were good as well, although it could've maybe used some more different ones.
UnknownDude/Brotherworks - Keyboard Blues
A bunch of keyboard solos over some backing stuff. Some solos were not very good, while some fantastic.
It's way too long though, especially since the backing doesn't really change that much.
Holy Helix - Lights.sfv
Pretty uneventful. Doesn't really have enough going on to be interesting, but it also lacks the time to build up a proper ambient atmosphere.
Ambient stuff doesn't really work on collab albums. I did like the synth sound, though.
It.Begins - Sick
The chord progression was nice, but it ended before anything interesting actually happened.
Feels more like an intro track than an actual song. Still, nicely produced.
Rich209 - The Dark Forest
Damn good quality. Felt quite off how it was kind of happy at first, but then turned really dark.
I really loved the piano section though. Good job on this one.
Wake the Phantom - Lost in the Balance
I like the high energy drums. Combination of the synth and piano are great.
Overall has a really full, satisfying sound, which seems to lack in most electronic collab tracks.
Hazefyer - Frequencies
Feels very empty. Doesn't really have that much going on at the same time, especially after the last track.
Feels a bit lengthy too, but not enough to get annoying. Really needs to be fleshed out though.
Morgan Hicks - Today
I like the synth sound. Very full and strong. That synth playing the high notes however is a bit annoying. Not as much when there are a lot of other synths playing, but definitely in the buildup towards the end.
I really feel like it could've used some changing melodies, but it stayed interesting long enough.
Cassette Dance - Turtle in the Sand
Finally, non-electronic music. Really calm and nice, I like it.
I feel like it could've used some really strong climax at the end, post-rock style, but it was definitely good.
xZombine - Perception
Didn't feel this track at all. Just felt kinda empty and pretty repetitive.
The buildup parts were pretty good, but the payoff was fairly weak.
Casey Kay - Djur E Kul
I know its punk, so it shouldn't really matter, but I thought that the vocals were really terrible.
Instrumentation is actually alright and I dig the low-fi feel, but the vocals ruined it.
Hakita - Lilith's Death and Rebirth
worse than cancer
Hullu V3 - Unchained
Djangoing to keep this short, since I did some criticism on this in another thread before.
Basically, good sound, good melodies and riffs, fantastic quality, meh intro.
Irene - And Writers Block Will Be The Death of You
The beat was good, but I didn't like the synths. Most of them sounded really annoying.
Also didn't feel like the noise elements fit the soft, chill sound at all.
Bullseye - Fallen
Nice. I don't listen to brostep often, but this is a really good track. Mostly because it's still fairly held back, even during the drop, which keeps the flow going.
Synths were sharp but also bassy enough. Overall damn fine track.
Deggie - That Ain't No Scooter
Nice, meaty djent sound, similar to Hullu's track.
I feel like it could've used a solo or something to spice it up a bit, but it was good regardless.
Eyefunk - Syssalnos
I like the dark atmosphere, but it's really lacking in the payoff section.
Felt a bit lengthy too, could've really been cut down on some parts so that the flow wouldn't break.
Gross - On A Wire
The drums were really strong and meaty, which I liked.
Synths were decent too, nothing too noteworthy.
Bytecry - Safe
Pretty chill. I liked the voice thing here, but it could've been expanded on a bit. After the same clip every fourth measure it got a bit tiring.
It was a bit too long for what it was, though. Could've used a bit more variety.
Chippers - Underground
Absolutely fantastic atmospheric buildup, which is very hard on a collab album. Too bad that it took a 90 degree turn around 2 minutes in and completely abandoned that greatly built up atmosphere.
The song feels pretty empty. The bass guitar sounds really sweet, though. It really feels like a ton of songs cut up and smashed together. They don't flow into eachother well at all.
Movement 3 (I presume they're movements) has a kind of Pink Floyd feel to it, which I like. Overall, its way too long and disjointed, but the actual melodies are pretty sweet and have a very satisfying feel, like the end of Echoes by Pink Floyd.
2hushit - Litany of Woes
Great use of samples, but the calm and fast sections had no flow to eachother at all.
It felt a bit repetitive too, especially when the drums played for a while with the same melody playing over and over.
Tuliq - Leaves
Very nice, would've made the perfect outro song.
I feel like it could've used some more reverb or a backing pad or something to give it a more full sound.
Still, damn nice.
Vedicardi - Do You Like Me Now
Maybe a little bit.
Nice and really energetic, but I feel like it feels a bit crammed. Could've spread the instruments out a bit more.
Still, good, punky, fun sound.
Visceral - Caps Lock
The drums sound incredibly deadmau5-like. Hell, the whole song is very deadmau5-ey.
The bass melody after the buildup feels a bit weak though, you should've added something on top of that, or atleast strengthened the bass a bit.
Got way stronger and better after the 2:45 mark, though. Great beat and melodies.
Should've had a shorter intro and it'd be fantastic.
And thats that.
Now the rest of you
GET TO REVIEWING
pretty please.
I really like:
Wake The Phantom - Lost In The Balance
I just love drum and bass.
Morgan Hicks - Today
This is okay it's just way too repetitive.
Bytecry - Safe
Reminds me of songs I used to listen to in my youth, soothing and relaxing.
UnknownDude/Brotherworks - Keyboard Blues
I like this because it's different, I've not heard much like this before.
Rich209 - The Dark Forest
I'm sure I've heard this before, I don't mean to cause offence but is this original? If it is then it's really good.
[editline]12th March 2013[/editline]
Sorry I didn't review every song I just don't have the time so I picked the ones that I felt quite strongly about.
i hate billie joe

Rich209 - The Dark Forest
Oh course its a original, that kind of offends me that you would even say that. A lot of my stuff has a mystical, fairy tale feel to it, so with that being said there are several other composers that have written things in that style. Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, Danny Elfman, etc.... Just because something may sound similar doesn't mean it was shamelessly stolen. It be like saying Mozart stole from Haydn because they sound similar. Anyways thanks.
The reviews on Caps Lock made my day guys, I didn't expect anyone to like my song very much.
Eyefunk - Syssalnos

Thanks for the review! Also, what is this glitch you are talking about? Timestamp?
I was looking for more dubstep music from Facepunch. Certainly happy though with all this new music I discovered.
Very nice job.
Come on guys, we need more reviews!
oh wow i haven't listened to facepunch's creative works since the first collab album
and with my new headphones, going through the back catalog should be a lot of fun
Why is every song sound the same?
You guys should try to branch out more, everything has this electro/trance/rave esqu feel to it.

Did you even listen to the whole album? I will dare to say that this is the most diverse album from us to date.

Hakita, Chippers and Verdicardi aren't electronic either.
And there are only a couple of tracks that are proper dance tracks. Most of the electronic tracks are ambient or downtempo-like, and then there's some drum n' bass and some other stuff. And then there is mine which is a mixture of electro and funk with a hint of blues and jazz.
Most are electronic, the first 9 songs are, and then it gets spotchy.
like 14 out of 20 are electronic. SO yeah, if this is the most "diverse you girls have gotten, you guys need to defiantly branch out.

Electronic music is a diverse group of genres, not a genre itself. Not even half of the tracks fit in to the trance, rave or electro genres as you claim. Matter of fact, there isn't a single trance or rave track on the album, and no pure electro either.
Also, the first 9 tracks aren't purely electronic. Track 6, The Dark Forest by Rich209, is a classical piece.
Now you're just nitpicking though.
I can definitely see where ScoutKing is coming from. Most of the music is electornic on these albums, but thats mostly because electronic doesn't require getting instruments, proper recording equipment etc etc.
Then again, my song was also technically electronic, even though I don't consider it that at all.

I guess it's the most easy and popular music to make. If you look at first page of the Musician's Gig Room, you'll see that there's like 3-4 threads unrelated to electronic music
Granted, not everyone can afford a decent home studio. I'm lacking €2500 to upgrade mine. And I still need a car.
