What people don't seem to understand is that it's not that they can't terminate 173 (if I'm not mistaken at least, I remember one of the SCP admins saying this at some point I think) because all you would really need are a few witnesses and a hammer. They just don't terminate it because it's pointless, or for science, or some other such crap. I mean hey, where else are they gonna send all the "demoted to Keter duty" fuckups?
You're half right, 173 is euclid class and that's why they don't terminate it. It's easy and inexpensive to keep contained so there's no point in destroying it. 083-D they killed because he was too expensive. 682 they're trying to kill because they can't keep it contained and if it breaks out it will destroy all life on earth. They only terminate them in the event securing, containing, and protecting, is out of the question. It's the Secure Contain Protect foundation for a reason, if you just want to destroy everything go to the GOC.

One thing I noticed about 173 just now was just how fucking short its arms are. Don't you think you could bypass the whole 'break-neck speed' thing by crouching/ducking?

Don't you think you could bypass the whole 'break-neck speed' thing by crouching/ducking?
Or by being aboveground I actually wonder why the hell they still have class Ds with mops doing the job, they could install some automated system or have them suspend or clean from a catwalk above.
I actually wonder why the hell they still have class Ds with mops doing the job
To some extent every doctor working for the Foundation is a sadistic lunatic [editline]30th March 2012[/editline] Or just insane
Why can't they just install cameras?
I actually wonder why the hell they still have class Ds with mops doing the job, they could install some automated system or have them suspend or clean from a catwalk above.
because the D-Class union would complain at the loss of jobs
Come on guys let's not talk about 173 and 682 every second of existence there's over 1000 SCPs out there already http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-410 http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-984
Why can't they just install cameras?
It requires a living thing. I frankly think they should just lock 131-A/B in there and be done with it. [editline]30th March 2012[/editline] But I agree we need to talk about something other than 682 and 173. Does SCP-716 remind anyone else of Final Fantasy VI?
To some extent every doctor working for the Foundation is a sadistic lunatic [editline]30th March 2012[/editline] Or just insane
Not all of them. A lot are just like regular scientists doing their regular stuff. It just happens that most of the SCPs that are most interesting to read about either directly require a sadistic workforce or will churn one out of the researchers assigned to it.
How does perception-distorting grass sound for an SCP? Like a species of grass that distorts sensory input varying with some kind of stimuli. For example, if the stimulus was weather, then hot weather would provide different hallucinations to observers than cold weather does.

[DATA EXPUNGED], right?
How about something like superglue rain caused by that one SCP?
Sounds interesting I guess, but what if there's inclement weather? [DATA EXPUNGED], right?
Traumatizing/insanity-inducing LSD trip then I guess. Or [DATA EXPUNGED], though honestly I think that seems to be a go-to cliche with SCPs that have variable output.
I find it amusing when something you wouldn't assume to do anything is so terrible it's [DATA EXPUNGED]
http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-343 http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-2558-j Best SCPs.
Or by being aboveground I actually wonder why the hell they still have class Ds with mops doing the job, they could install some automated system or have them suspend or clean from a catwalk above.
Like I said with the stair SCP: it's much more hilarious to send actual people
oh my goodness http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-5555-j
oh my goodness http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-5555-j
Some points of this log are quite hilarious or adorable.
Test Log 16 (7/11/20██, 9:00 AM) Input: SCP-173 Output: Tiny concrete statue, closely resembling input in vague outline. Paint colors also similar, but arranged such that Min-173 appears to be wearing makeup. Object is also, inexplicably, wearing glow-sticks and a tall striped top hat. Note: Accidentally blinked. Mini-173 tried to strangle my penis. I quit.
No, really. You made me miss dinner.

http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-953 In this episode of secure, contain, protect: Even when he's only mentionned once, kondraki manages to be a badass.
These are a must read for anyone writing an SCP
oh crap the thread's being pushed down by the chat threads again solution is somehow sending in d-class
Quickly, spam D-classes until this thread is at the top! :v:
so it's April 1st
The Chief IRG Officer is great, and the Factory too. http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/ecceperago "I'm sorry, driver, I don't think I've seen you before. What did you say your name was?" Seven asked absently, fiddling with the ivory chopstick in her hair. "Oh, it's Rodney. But most people call me Dr. Gerald." :v:
It requires a living thing. I frankly think they should just lock 131-A/B in there and be done with it.
What if they record it and show it to someone?
The way I figure it is agents would dress differently depending on what they're doing. For ordinary everyday patrol like stuff I'd think civilian clothes and sunglasses with a concealed weapon. For things like the experiments conducted on 342 they'd be dressed as local law enforcement. For 899 and that red lake they'd probably look like park rangers, for something like 097 and 610 they'd probably be dressed as military personnel. Then MTFs Xi-13, Omicron-9, and Delta-5 would probably look like special forces teams. O-23 would probably wear mostly labcoats since the people who tend to be incapable of dying are usually researchers and scientists.
Oh my god am i just high or has this post been posted before earlier in this thread. [editline]1st April 2012[/editline]
What people don't seem to understand is that it's not that they can't terminate 173 (if I'm not mistaken at least, I remember one of the SCP admins saying this at some point I think) because all you would really need are a few witnesses and a hammer.
I bet they can't terminate because everyone there to supervise would flinch on every blow of the hammer or something
Simple solutions. Assuming the sound of impact is what causes people to blink, you could have everyone wear earplugs, or simply use some other remotely operated means of demolition.
