I quite enjoyed reading this as for fleshing out, maybe some experiments on what they "consider" to be grime. For example, a room containing an open-top terrarium with a lizard on it, and a pile of the same dirt on the floor or outside the terrarium.
Maybe there could be some experiments concerning what conditions must be met for the room to be cleaned. Will they clean it if water boils or freezes at that temperature? Do they use water at all? What if it's hot enough for plastic to melt in minutes? What of nooks and crannies beyond the reach of the soldiers and their tools? What will they clean if the room is shaped like a Klein bottle?
" rejected landscape"
Oh man this is a hard phrase
If I recall correctly they're not terribly big fans of "Artist's Interpretation"-style pictures on reports either. The idea for that one I think is that the straight-laced Foundation would either go with actual photos or nothing at all. Although I have to admit; I have always wanted to write an SCP about a living version of that guy from Edvard Munch's Scream, and then make the document picture his painting with the note "Artist's Rendition" underneath it. Never gonna actually do it, but the idea by itself makes me smile every time.
Well, I guess there's always Project Crossover for that sort of stuff.
My favorite scp is 106. Also my pc broke is there any good apps to browse scp page on android?
It's not too hard to read on my phone at least. Regardless, I was at one point planning to make an app that converted the pages into a slightly more readable format and showed them with a HTML control or something.
I had an idea. What about an SCP... That's everything you're supposed to avoid doing writing an SCP article? But not just for laughs, like those involved in testing actually hate working with the thing and comment on its very existence reading like a 12 Year Old's Fan-fiction. But of course, they can't just destroy it, as that would go against company policy.
But of course, they can't just destroy it, as that would go against company policy.
No, it can't be destroyed 'cause it's indestructible.
http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-732
That isn't really something that actually exists though, that's just a hacker that fucked with the database. I'm talking an actual real horrible SCP that nobody cares for and is all around a pain to live with.
I'm talking an actual real horrible SCP that nobody cares for and is all around a pain to live with.
Isn't that almost all of them?
Well, uh, scp-097 turned out to be surprisingly creepy...
I feel like writing an SCP even though I can't get a Wiki account. I should probably write an SCP that exclusively has benefits unless mishandled, kind of like 387 and 294. There's not many of that, and if there are, they also come with drawbacks, such as the tidying monkey.
SCP is as creepy as a Wikipedia article on a horror film.
I still like the "termination means memory wipe and reuse" theory.
I like it better than the "terminate them all at the end of the month just cause we can to show how evil we are" way they do it. Also, was bored and decided to write up an idea I had. Tell me what you guys think. http://sandbox.scp-wiki.net/useless-desk [editline]26th April 2012[/editline] [QUOTE=Sgt. If it's good enough, someone who has an account might post it for you.
Good SCP material?
SCP is as creepy as a Wikipedia article on a horror film.
That's kinda the point. SCPs are documented in scientific manner and in doing that gives the Foundation a good story telling atmosphere.
That's kinda the point. SCPs are documented in scientific manner and in doing that gives the Foundation a good story telling atmosphere.
I don't find them very compelling...
I don't find them very compelling...
so if you don't care y r u in the thread about the thing you do not care about
I've been thinking about writing an SCP article, is there a "note that makes you do the thing written on it"-type SCP yet?
So, I watched the movie 'The Cabin In The Woods' today and can't help but get the feeling that the movie was kinda SCP-ish if you watched the movie that is. Was the movie inspired by SCP or something? Don't know if it was discussed here before, I'm just bringing it up.
My idea for an SCP would be a block of post-it notes which will make you do whatever's written on the note, directly or indirectly, and even if you don't speak the language the note was written in (D-class cannot read the note written in egyptian, but will do the task nevertheless, doctor assigns a meaning to a jumble of letters, D-class still does the order). The backstory would be about a family where everyone suicided, including a dog, because a relative wrote a suicide note on the post-it note. Too cliché-ish?
so if you don't care y r u in the thread about the thing you do not care about
To give you guys a taste of what a non-fan thinks. A bit of a different perspective never hurt anyone, right?
To give you guys a taste of what a non-fan thinks. A bit of a different perspective never hurt anyone, right?
if you go through the thread you'll find people giving actual different perspectives in the form of constructive criticism, eg "I don't like SCP-XXXX for reasons A, B and C" what you're doing is "I don't like SCP because I don't like them"
if you go through the thread you'll find people giving actual different perspectives in the form of constructive criticism, eg "I don't like SCP-XXXX for reasons A, B and C" what you're doing is "I don't like SCP because I don't like them"
I think it just might not be my kind of horror, but it's still how I feel about the idea in general. I feel a lack of investment in what I'm reading due to form of the writing, how it's written, and the subject matter itself. It just gives me no reason to care, and that's a killing blow to any sort of horror.
That still doesn't answer the question of why you're in the thread for the SCP Foundation when you don't like the SCP Foundation. Okay, so you made a post saying you don't like it, which doesn't really give us much perspective, but whatevs. Why are you still here if you don't like the subject the thread is on?
God damn, stop whining then.

But I'll be going now, bye.
You haven't missed anything really. It's designed in a clinical style and that does detract from almost all the horror. You must realise this is NOT a horror site. If it was, it is no longer one. This is objective fact. What it is now is basically a community for writing pieces that share a specific theme (that is, anomalous shit being documented by a foundation that contains them).
what's so good about SCP-173 and SCP-682?
