Nothing they're just popular, if anything they're lower quality than all the other SCPs by now.
If they didn't exist and anyone submitted either article nowadays they'd get shunned out of the internet Well, probably not 173 but 682 for sure.
My favorite SCPs are the ones that have really long experiment logs. Like the vending machine, or the camera that shows the subject what they want (Sometimes), or even the alternate reality recorders. Does anyone have other SCPs that have long, interesting experiment logs?
edit fuck
Well this is interesting.
Oh for the love of god, tell me there's a part 2 to that.
How does the Foundation deal with the issue of civilians knowing about the SCPs? Like, I mean, if there's a public incident, or people know about an SCP before it's captured? Then what?
Public incidents usually don't happen in the SCP universe but when they do it's either a MIB-style "swamp gas" thing, or mass amnesiacs / rounding up witnesses
I remember that in some entry there was a mention of "grade B amnesiac" or something.
I remember that in some entry there was a mention of "grade B amnesiac" or something.
That kind of makes me wonder how far down the system goes. Like maybe somewhere there's an official Grade R Amnesiac, and it's just a baseball bat kept in a car trunk.
there's grade a, b, c etc amnesiacs all with different levels of potency
That kind of makes me wonder how far down the system goes. Like maybe somewhere there's an official Grade R Amnesiac, and it's just a baseball bat kept in a car trunk.
The Class is determined by potency, Class A being the strongest, followed by B, and C. Going all the way down, class R would probably be "I've lost my train of thought".
I was gonna think up some crazy catastrophe involving a large amount of people, but then I though about the Mariana Trench documents and answered my own question.
class Z amnesiac: hold on... right. they have not been successfully been contained, and you always end up swallowing some. Math classrooms tend to be full of these.
If it wasn't because it's fucking stupid, someone should make an SCP about the Michael Bay transformers, complete with containment breaches whenever they ruin Las Vegas, with Class A++ amnesiacs given to everyone. [editline]28th April 2012[/editline] J class SCP, of course.
If it wasn't because it's fucking stupid, someone should make an SCP about the Michael Bay transformers, complete with containment breaches whenever they ruin Las Vegas, with Class A++ amnesiacs given to everyone.
Hey, maybe the movie was made to cover it up, so if there's a breach and anybody gets film footage it would just be reasoned as an ARG. Didn't that Sasquatch SCP involve something similar?

Going all the way down, class R would probably be "I've lost my train of thought".
I thought it was stated there were only 3 types (A, B and C) with A being the least potent (Removal of short term memory) B in the middle (Long term memory) and C being the most powerful (Almost total memory wipe) Seeing as there's no canon (Since I've seen reference for stuff like "E" class amnesiacs.) I guess it's all subjective.
huh, isn't it always A being the most powerful and C being the weakest in all situations because if you do it the other way around you don't really have room to change things
This is really interesting, especially because even the stupidest ones can be taken seriously, such as the coffee machine that can disperse any liquid. The back story and descriptions are actually pretty cool.
SCP-140 has to be my favorite. I'm really considering trying my hand at either writing some short stories revolving SCPs or some new SCPs of my own.
I rewrote SCP-100 and SCP-518, if y'all are interested. http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-518 http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-100

Does anyone know what the SCP about a machine in a hospital (i think) is called? The one that "improves" people put on the operating table. I've been searching for it but I can't find it. I think one of the things it did was removed a guys eye.

Made an SCP wallpaper for you guys. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/43356210/Modelphotos/SCPBG.png[/t] [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/43356210/Modelphotos/SCPBG3.png[/t] The files are still saved so if any of you want a render in your screen size, just ask.
Random Phrase Generator. Got phrase "shared dependance", herewego.
Item #: SCP-XXX Object Class:Euclid Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is to be contained in a safe measured 1m x 1m x 1m. Said safe is to be guarded by a single armed guard. Under no circumstances are two or more people allowed to handle the subject at one time. Description: SCP-XXX is a steel rod measuring 30cm in length, one half colored red, the other half colored blue. When it is handled by one person no effects are shown to manifest, however, if one person grasps the red side, and another grasps the blue side, the effects shall manifest themselves as follows. Note: Tests are ongoing to determine if the effects change whether or not a third person grasps the SCP When two humans each grasp one end of the subject, SCP-XXX interacts with both of them in a manner in which both subjects will "forget" how to perform a basic act of everyday life, such as eating. It has been shown that both "forgotten" actions are different for both individuals. This effect is instant for both individuals. After both subjects have forgotten their own specific action, they must rely on their "partner" for survival. Please see Addendum 1 for testing log. Addendum 1: Test #: 1 Subject: D-Class subjects 654 and 314 Details: Both D-Class subjects are ordered to each grasp one end of SCP-XXX. Both subjects both proceeded to express distress at apparent amnesia at basic acts of everyday life. Subject 654 had apparently forgotten how to dress himself. The other had forgotten how to feed himself. Both subjects immediately seemed drawn to each other and subsequently relied on each other, despite each of their objections. All attempts to have other D-Class aid 654 and 314 have been proven unsuccessful. It appears that both individuals must be aided by their "partner After a period of █ weeks, both subjects were forcibly seperated. after █ days, subject 314 had died due to dehydration. Subject 654 seemed distressed at the fact of being unable to dress and undress himself, but is otherwise in perfect health. Dr.Clef - This gives a whole new meaning to the "buddy system".

Random Phrase Generator. Got phrase "shared dependance", herewego.
I really like it but you may want to trim down the use of "both individuals".
Did someone say something about class R amnesiac?
Item #: SCP-XXX-EX Object Class:EX Special Containment Procedures: NOTE: THE FOLLOWING IS ARCHIVAL INFORMATION FOR REFERENCE ONLY. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO CONTAINMENT PROTOCOLS IN PLACE FOR SCP-XXX-EX. Description: SCP-XXX Is a large wooden crate, containing 8 large propane tanks. Each tank is pressurised at [] PSI, and contains an unknown gas. When the gas, Known as SCP-XXX-1, Is exposed to any gas or liquid, It will slowly dimish it's mass, Until little to none of it is present. After [] Seconds of contact, There will be a dramatic increase of the liquid or gas that SCP-XXX-1 was exposed to, Equal to the amount of SCP-XXX-1 that was introduced to the enviroment. It apears that SCP-XXX-1 Will transform it's mass into whatever liquid or gas is introduced over the period of [] Seconds. It appears that once the change is made, The liquid or gas cannot be turned back into SCP-XXX-1. SCP-XXX Was found in the back of a parked pickup truck in [REDACTED] The truck was found with all windows closed, When opened, The truck was found to be full of Ciggarete Smoke, And a human corpse. It is assumed that one of the origional nine tanks had burst in the van, Assumably while the driver was smoking. Amnesiacs were administered to wittnesses and the truck, Corpse and SCP-XXX were moved to [REDACTED] WARNING TO ALL PERSONEL, SCP-XXX-1 HAS BREACHED CONTAINMENT During Dr.[]'s lunch break on [], a small amount of SCP-XXX-1 moved out of his office, And through the ventilation system, To the surface. From that point SCP-XXX-1 Seems to have evolved, And has become Reproducable, As the amounts of SCP-XXX-1 Above the facility have almost doubled in [] Hours. Agents were sent out to the nearest towns to administer amnesic, And found that the wave of SCP-XXX-1 had allready reached [REDACTED], [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. After this, SCP-XXX-1 Took on the form of a class R amnesiac, Dropped by Agent [], And continued it's spread. After [] Days, Readings of SCP-XXX-1 Were present in largely poulated areas. FROM THE DESK OF 05-3 Hello Everyone. I am writing to all of you about the recent breach of SCP-XXX, Or more specificly, SCP-XXX-1. It seems that our containment regulations for SCP-XXX was not enough, And we will face dire consequences because of it. Luckily, SCP-XXX-1 Has taken the form of a class R amnesiac, Instead of any kind of deadly or crippling gas or liquid. We have decided to use a large amount of ENUI-5, Our least noticable amnesiac, On a global scale. Do not worry, We have determined this safe, As all SCP-XXX-1 has become class R amnesiac. Men and Women, The foundation has failed. Class R Amnesiac: A class R amnesiac is an extremly low dose of class G Amnesiac. This dosage will cause momentary confusement, Or loss of "Train of thought". As oppose to class G Amnesiac, That will cause a subject to lose a whole day of memory.
I decided to make it an EX class, Because lots of people walk into rooms and them forget what for, Or lose their train of thought Suggestions and Criticism?
