A researcher at one point ordered "something that'll destroy SCP-682" from SCP-294, it vaporized the entire site except for 294 itself. Unfortunately 682 is contained at a different site.

If they REALLY wanted to kill 682, they'd do this, only... with him nearby. But from a writers standpoint, the SCP community would never do that, because so many jokes and fan art and fan story submissions are based on 682 or involve 682, and killing him off would be a major jab to the community.

maybe they could get 682 clinically depressed. I don't think it'd be too hard; it's constantly surrounded by what it thinks are the most horribly disgusting and incomprehensible things it's ever seen, at that point you just need to twist it into a complete horror show and you've got one existentially-confused unkillable lizard.

If 682 really needed to be killed, it should happen using a long and complex story like duke til' dawn, making a lot of references to other SCPs. Just to make a grand finale for it all. 682 is known a lot of places and since it is invulnerable to most things, it needs a quite good written decommissioning report instead of "we tried this again and it worked, lets grab some coffee".
Part of me feels that a clinical, brief decommissioning report would be really fitting for how the universe works - 682 is just one drop in the bucket in a world that hates them.

I think something like this would work best. perhaps they wouldn't even said what killed it, and let everyone else think up zany schemes and write about what they think happened. and it'd be good because you could twist it for both humour and horror.
but we all know that isn't ever going to happen because everyone's far too attached to it

What if he never killed him, just let him wander around the earth alone. First he'd be happy and smash buildings and stuff but.....no humans no animals nothing but a lifeless wasteland nothing for him to kill. At first he's happy that they're gone but then he almost begins to miss them without the humans he gets bored.
Eventually he goes crazy and starts using his own flesh and parts that separate but can still be controlled as imitation humans. It works but as he makes them "live" before he "kills" them he starts to get too into his human role then starts acting a little too human, even making them have families and jobs.
Many years later as some humans return to check on earth they find a civilization has formed, all made entirely out of scp-682.

I made a Garrysmod picture about SCP-280! It's pretty bad by SCP standards but it's the best I could come up with.
I imagined that some guy gets lost in an abandoned SCP Site and runs into SCP-280 who continues to stalk him.

I wanted to capture a look of worry on one guy's face while having some guy horsing around with 173 in the background, but the ragdoll's neck wouldn't turn as far as I wanted it and it didn't make sense for him to be staring at someone off-screen so I had to put another D-class on the other side of the frame.
I think I took some better screenshots that didn't get uploaded, but my composition generally sucks anyway.
