I know this is late, but 096's anomalous property is what it does when a person looks directly at either its face, or a photograph of it (096 reacts something akin to a startled Witch from Left 4 Dead) so an artist's interpretation would be the only image the foundation could actually have, not to mention in one of the incident reports they specifically mentioned having one.

I don't know man, generally the site treats a picture edit like a live hand-grenade. just seems like it'd lead to a big unecessary debate in the discussion section.
besides, 096 is scarier when you imagine it yourself, same reason there's all those [DATA EXPUNGED]'s around. an incredibly dangerous SCP such as 096 shouldn't have to stick to one appearance, or else someone who thinks it's got a funny face or something could totally lose all fear of it.

The acid's purpose is only to weaken him to the point he can't bust out. He doesn't need to be submerged in acid per se, it's just the easiest way to keep him weakened.
Maybe magma could do the trick? He may be able to resist the heat though.
