New SCP-http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1673-"Friendly Graveyard"
Why is it a Safe SCP. It sounds pretty hurtful to me.
Why is it a Safe SCP. It sounds pretty hurtful to me.
People still don't get the classifications. Let's use an example of a marble in a box. If it was classified as safe, if you left it inside the box for twenty years you could come back and it would still be in there. If it was classified as euclid, you're completely unaware of its ability to leave the box or otherwsie breach it - it's essentially "We don't fucking know what this thing can do" It it's keter, it will actively and sometimes successfully break itself out of the box. Basically safe/euclid/keter means how easy it is to contain the thing and how hard it is to come under its effects, not how "safe" it is. A machine that brutally rapes you for eternity can easily be "safe" if you can only activate it by coming within a meter of it.
Whether something is safe, euclid, or keter is dependent on how well the Foundation can contain it.
Whether something is safe, euclid, or keter is dependent on how well the Foundation can contain it.
Not really, euclid and even keter class SCPs can be contained successfully at times. Here's the way they put it: The designation "Safe" is assigned to subjects or objects that may be effectively and reliably contained. Safe designates may have individual containment procedures, but these procedures are not expected to fail frequently, or be subject to later revision as more information is obtained about a subject. An SCP object is classified as Euclid when its behavior cannot be unerringly predicted, either because the item is sentient, it behaves outside of current scientific knowledge, or its nature is simply poorly understood at present. Euclid-class objects do not pose the same existential threat to humanity due to containment breach that Keter-class objects do, but they still generally require more diligence to keep contained than Safe-class objects. The designation "Keter" is assigned to subjects that both (a) display vigorous, active hostility to human life, civilization, and/or spacetime, and (b) are capable of causing significant destruction in the event of a containment breach. Such subjects must be cataloged, contained according to special containment procedures, and destroyed, if possible. Basically safe is usually inanimate and can be locked in a box and forgotten about. Euclid and Keter aren't fully understood and both require conscious effort to keep contained. However Euclid is easier and a containment breach of a Keter class SCP is typically an end of the world scenario. This 1673 for example, is safe because all you have to do to prevent anything from happening is keep people from entering at night, simple enough task, just build a wall or four, and/or post guards. Not to mention that if anyone were to actually get in there and see it, most people would just assume they're telling ghost stores/had their mind playing tricks on them.
a containment breach of a Keter class SCP is typically an end of the world scenario.
Or at least a lot of people get killed. Keters are active threats to humanity but that doesn't need to mean they destroy the world. Some might just kill everyone nearby. And then move on to the next place.
Does anyone have any idea what font is used in the logo of the foundation?

And then move on to the next place.
True, it's not invariable. But most, if left uncontained (SCP-008, SCP-682, SCP-736, etc) pose a serious threat to all life. It's not always the case, SCP-902 for example is completely harmless, and SCP-990 is almost the opposite, being completely uncontained, and actively attempting to aid the foundation in the prevention of end-of-the-world scenarios.

Forget 087, I'd like to see someone make a horror game out of SCP-1983.
Does anyone have any idea what font is used in the logo of the foundation?
I do actually! It's Bauhaus LT Demi!
I posted a new tale http://www.scp-wiki.net/one-last-ride
Hello. I'm rather new to SCP, but I have immersed myself, I have read up to around 002-201 of the SCPs and I have fallen in love with the project. I have been on the mIRC channel and have had some friendly conversation with the authors, bumping into the author of a personal favourite, "Mr. Brass" and "Mr.Laugh", and gave me some tips on writing my own SCPs. (Roget, was his name) I have a few ideas for things, but I don't feel I'm ready or, it's fitting to introduced them to the massive universe of The Foundation. I might just begin a knock-off project of my own, with its own canon and leave it as is, more as an homage than trying to merge it with something established. Cheers <3

Thank you for enjoying my work!
Oh hey, sup :) I don't think you remember when we talked, my IRC is LurkingThing. we talked about The Spider. [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] poor Mr. Chameleon :(
Hey everyone. I completely love this whole SCP project. I am interested in making an SCP video archive. I have had the idea for a while but now this summer I have time to begin making it. I would like to ask you guys, what SCP should I begin with? I want it to be interesting but not one of the most famous ones. Also ones that would require minimal special effects work as I want to pump out a few before making the really famous ones. Also here is the channel, keep a lookout. Are there any SCPs that cant be contained? I know theres the leviathin but that doesnt count because its just too big for containment.

I just read "The World From a Different Angle". Pretty good, I think.

Last night I started penning down little ideas for things. I have about a dozen SCPs in the making here. and if they don't get into the official site, I will archive them as part of my own thing. While I love SCP, The formatting can be difficult at times, the vague Classifications, or the overly specific containment procedures, or even the use of the metric system. I plan on making very specific classifications for my own, creating a new system. Taking into account things like if it's a being or location, object, Intelligence level etc. Almost like something from a DnD Monster Manual.

Instead, who was from the foundation was revealed half way through and I was quite surprised by what it all was based around.
Does this count?
Only thing I don't like about that article is how it talks about "tactical" nukes, when strategic nuclear missiles would be more appropriate given the context.
I asked this a few pages ago and never got a response, so maybe I can ask again. how many of you guys are actually on the site/in chat?

One scp I thought would be cool to make would be a guy who needs to hear a constant musical/drum beat to live.
