One scp I thought would be cool to make would be a guy who needs to hear a constant musical/drum beat to live.
How do they explain how he survived for that long?
That's actually a pretty good question.
How do they explain how he survived for that long?
He dies when not hearing it but is resurrected when he does?
"SCP-XXXX" was found to reside in an apartment above the [REDACTED] Nightclub."
I could see it happening with a lot of tweaks. Instead of maybe music strictly, it could be a clearly audible rhythm like that provided by a metronome, or instead of dying, he manifests some other effects that clearly necessitate the presence of a steady beat. If he just died without a rhythm, the Foundation would probably go "Oh, neat. Whatever." and place him on the list of anomalous objects or something.
How about if his heartbeat matches the tempo of the track? Sort of explains why he would die when there's no music. Introduces some risks like doing strenuous activity without listening to fast enough music.
I don't know, the idea kind've sucks, just something I thought would make it more interesting.
A heartbeat dependent on a metronome. Sounds interesting.
How do they explain how he survived for that long?
He's born to some weird cult that plays drum music all the time obviously
Maybe instead of dying, he goes into a deep coma and wakes up when someone starts playing music.
When exposed to the musical genre known as 'breakcore' the subject [DATA EXPUNGED]
Perhaps he doesn't die, but his heart rate is dependent on the nearest/loudest audible rhythm. idk, the idea is admittedly rather uninteresting without extensive modification and adaptation.
maybe he goes into different 'states', a state for each genre.
When he cannot hear a beat, he starts to drain nearby electricity (Without meaning to, of course) like that purple green lantern ring. When power sources run out (which is quickly), lifeforms around him [REDACTED].
How about the baby was delivered, and was to be brought to the nursery, but starting displaying startlingly drastic changes in appearance/health/whatever as it was brought to the nursery and farther away from its mothers' heartbeat monitor? Thus prompting it to always be in earshot of music or rhythm.
I don't know whether it's a side-effect of the influx of people to The Foundation or what, but it seems to me that there have been a lot of articles in the 1000s block that have shattered the +100 mark, or even just skyrocketed up to the 50+ range and stayed there.
It seems to me that if an article has a rating of ~30-40 then it's pretty good and worth a read, at least in my experience.
The 1000s, block, though - there's something about it that has always seemed... illegitimate to me, like its quality is sub-par to the first block of works. Maybe it was because I began reading the site at the time when the last free slots in the hundreds block were being filled and so in my head it's the "original" body of works. That's not to say that there aren't good ones in the newer block, but I've never felt the inclination to read them as much as the older ones.

A lot of the old guard feel this way as well. Personally, I think some of our best stuff comes from the 1000's block (i.e Ronald Reagan Cut Up While Talking, Bigfoot, etc.)

One of the things that catches my interest about the SCPs in the 1000s is that they are, for the most part, still in a "flux" of sorts. Not really many of them that are deeply ingrained into the Foundation yet, like 173 or 682 are in the pre-1000s, and whats a popular (random 1000s number) today can be an entirely different SCP of the same number tomorrow.
You won't see 682 be anything other than what we know as 682, for example.

If it's in "flux" the way you think I mean, I really hope they do some extensive quality checking and rip the shitty articles out of there. I remember a while back people posting links to some new SCPs that were absolutely fucking terrible, some so bad that you could tack a -J on the end and it would be a legitimate parody.

We still get those, but they end up universally downvoted into oblivion.

If something gets downvoted enough will it get removed/terminated? It would be a damn shame if that crap remained on the wiki.

The deletion threshold is currently -10, but there has been talk in 19 of pushing it to 0 with the site move.
Also I made a new SCP http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1452/
Site move?

Deletion at 0? Wouldn't that mean every new SCP would be deleted?

So if some user rates it down by one just to get on peoples nerves, potential SCP's could just end up being deleted? That's complete horseshit.
Keeping in mind that this is all just talk.

Has anything come out of 19 in regards to when the site move will be?
So if some user rates it down by one just to get on peoples nerves, potential SCP's could just end up being deleted? That's complete horseshit.
No, we have a 24 hour deletion threshold. If it is still at 0 after 24 hours, it is eligible for deletion. And all deletion entails is getting kicked back into the sandbox to be fixed. We don't leap on deleting SCP's. there is a process involved. And there is no date for the site move, although the staff beta is probably coming up soon.
You guys can just read O5 command to know whats going on.
Scp-914 is the best SCP in my opinion

Here are some logs, even better (Read after you read the main SCP-914 page)

477 is my favorite, but WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT DO TO DEAD BODIES
