I can't remember what mine was, aside from 173 or 682, but the one I remember reading the earliest was the Extradimensional Nasal Cavity. That remains as one of my favorites.
I saw 173 posted waaay back on some forum before I knew what SCP even was. It wasn't even the whole thing, just the containment procedures.

These are really... thought-provoking.
Thinking of writing about a metronome, seismograph or something that makes people perceive an earthquake that isn't actually happening, ranging from a light tremor to falling over with every "shake", to eventually having a fatal seizure.
It sounds good in my head, but there's nothing I can think of that really makes it interesting or mysterious. Any ideas?

Unsurprisingly, the SCP subreddit is a shithole. Usually obscure subs offer better quality, but in this case it seems to be populated entirely by people who either know almost-nothing about the Foundation, or are the kind of people who write shitty SCPs and stuff that doesn't even fit the theme of the SCP-verse.
We've got shit like "write a vaguely SCP-related story and I'll draw a picture of it [to whore attention later on]; give me more upvotes and I'll show my boobs too!", the guy who wanted to write an SCP article about Slenderman (FFS kids, get over the fucking crossovers), questions that could easily be answered by looking around the site like "what do euclid and keter mean" and "what is 110-montauk", and poorly-photoshopped SCP fuel.
I'm sorry, I know how much of FP feels about Reddit but I needed to rant.
