It seems like they just know how to DDOS, and spam inboxes.

Cut off the smile in the third picture, it doesn't fit.
I thought it looked more like someone screaming in agony
I thought it looked more like someone screaming in agony
It looks like he's smiling. I mean you can tell he's screaming in agony, but just the angle of the shot makes it look like a smile. I like it, but you may want to tone it back a bit. Leaving it open and a lot of it un-contained kind of leaves the Foundation in a bind. It also kind of paints them as a lot more incompetent and delicate that previous entries have shown them to be. They're willing to nuke the fuck out of everything if it means taking out even one SCP, so I doubt they'd be like "Yeah there are infected but we're just gonna cover it up and hope it doesn't get worse." Other than that it's really good.
If he were screaming, his mouth would be open more.
If he were screaming, his mouth would be open more.
Not really. You don't need to have your jaw hanging open to scream. He could be crying from pain, as well.
Not really. You don't need to have your jaw hanging open to scream. He could be crying from pain, as well.
It's a she, just for the record, that arm is rather strategically placed.
What sound plays when you play the audio recording for scp-216? I just want to know before I listen to it. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline] I just played it, It's pretty lame.
Nearly done :D
That's great. I actually read about the actual outbreak, and the SCP article claiming that to be a coverup was a great touch. As far as I'm aware, it's actually not desomorphine that's in krokodil, but some impure form of codine and another opiate alkaloid. The necrosis is caused by improperly crushed codine tablets, the coating not properly removed and injected into the bloodstream, blocking blood vessels and starving flesh. That's totally not on topic though. I think the article's pretty great, although it does sort of feel "bland", if that makes any sense. It's a highly deadly, infectious mold. That's scary in it's own right, but it just seems rather mundane compared to what the Foundation generally contains, if that makes any sense.
My application was accepted. :toot: Also, taking a gander at the the FAQ
What is procedure 110-Montauk? An amateur shadowcast of the Rocky Horror picture Show.
:v:
Got inspired by this thread and the SCP-site :v:

I have an idea for an SCP. What did you people say to get accepted? And do they not accept hotmail accounts? Last time I tried with my hotmail account I didnt even get rejected. Didnt get a reply at all.

All personnel handling SCP-XXX are to wear gloves at all times. Description:SCP-XXX is a small blue-green stone weighing approximately 250g. Nothing about the stone seems abnormal except for the fact that if any living thing capable of producing urine stays in contact with the stone for more than █ hours, their kidneys will mutate and instead of producing a liquid, their kidneys will produce a constant stream of what are known as "kidney stones". After the appropriate amount of time the subject reported an acute pain in the groin area. Observers showed that instead of urine being produced a constant production of kidney stones is produced, testing aborted immediately.
Keter is a Hebrew word, bro
Ah, didn't know. I thought the word was of Greek or Latin origin, that's why I was confused. But why does the foundation use an arabic word?
I always loved SCP. The only one that really bothered me was 682. Let me explain. 682 sucks. He just does. There's no tension or fear in some un-killable lizard. For one, lizards aren't scary. For two, I'm tired of the "just un-killable" SCP's running around. Something should at least be killable. I mean, I guess it's a good plot device for why they wouldn't just exterminate any Keter class running about (I mean seriously, if it's so dangerous just take a flamethrower to the fucker *hint hint SCP-173*) But my biggest problem with SCP-682 is it just seems like some 12er got on the site and decided to make his own version of "TEH BEST SCP EVAR!" and just made an un-killable lizard man because he thought it was cool. I mean, there's no thought in it and therefore no real tension. That's what sets it apart from other un-killable SCP's is that he's just boring. His only other defining trait is being a giant lizard. Ohhh, real fucking exciting. I mean, I remember earlier back someone posted a picture of a kids coloring book about SCP-682 basically being from the mind of a 6 year old, but that's what it fucking is! It's boring and I'm just sick of it being one of those centerpiece SCP's when it's not really deserving of it. Other then that, SCP's are great. There's a shit ton of underrated SCP's out there that are just waiting to come into the limelight. My favorites are the Red Pool and that corpse like fucker who makes everything rust and can disappear into walls.
Plus 682 is really badly written, but everyone sucks his indestructible reptilian cock and uprates his article while kicking other SCPs that aren't very good but could be great with a little work into the grand canyon without giving any constructive criticism.
So, from what I can tell, everyone's desperate to get rid of SCP-682. Now, this may sound really, really stupid, but how about we get it to evolve into something so amazingly useless it can't do anything but glare and think angry thoughts? Failing that, we could always take a buzzsaw to it and stuff it down The Staircase. At the least it'll get a heart-attack from that fucking freaky face.
I don't really think 682 is meant to be taken very seriously, he's more along the lines SCPs like the coffee machine. I don't see why everyone's getting worked up about him when you have ones like 56 and 76 still around. I think people just need to extract the arboreal detritus from their posterior cavities.
Im writing one (or rather, attempting to) but where should I place [DATA EXPUNGED] to give it a realistic feeling? Should it cover names?
I don't really think 682 is meant to be taken very seriously, he's more along the lines SCPs like the coffee machine. I think people just need to extract the arboreal detritus from their posterior cavities.
Yeah, but one thing that makes it special is that it's an aggressive, seemingly simplistic (for the duration of the test, anyway) organism that will always survive. Thus, we can place an infinite amount of stress on it without changing the experiment parameters. Really, at this point it's just throwing stuff at it and seeing what happens.
Im writing one (or rather, attempting to) but where should I place [DATA EXPUNGED] to give it a realistic feeling? Should it cover names?
It's not so much realism as it is letting the reader fill in the gaps with their own fears. Like, instead of saying "It amputated their legs" you could say "It proceeded to violently [DATA EXPUNGED]"
Straight from http://www.scp-wiki.net/how-to-write-an-scp
If you need to remove a few words (e.g. names, places, dates), copy the Unicode character █ (U+2588, FULL BLOCK). If you need to cut out substantial sections, use [DATA EXPUNGED].
So basically, like Spycrabz said, it's used to make the reader fill in the information with whatever their twisted mind can come up with. █ for small things like 'SCP-XXX proceeded to disintegrate ██ D-class personnel before recontainment was possible.' [DATA EXPUNGED] for bigger things like 'SCP-XXX was found in the [DATA EXPUNGED] Area has now been secured, and access restricted to 05-level approval only.'
Im writing one (or rather, attempting to) but where should I place [DATA EXPUNGED] to give it a realistic feeling? Should it cover names?
[DATA EXPUNGED] is for large segments of omitted text, while black blocks are for small omissions. Think of it this way: If you were an actual SCP agent editing a paper copy for security reasons, would it be more efficient to meticulously cover the offending content with white-out or turn the container over and pour it on the whole general area? If the former, blocks. If the latter, expunge.
And [REDACTED] should be used for classified or sensitive information, whereas [DATA EXPUNGED] is better suited for gruesome details and the like. [EXPLETIVE REDACTED] is used for curse words.
Ah, was going to ask if there was a difference in Redacted and Expunged.
Seriously though, what's up with The Stairwell? It's fucking freaky and I am somewhat confused. Any ideas? http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-087
