so it's saying that the foundation is an SCP itself
funky
The Church of the Broken God is definitely my favorite "group of interest"
Is "Scantron's Proposal" a proposal for SCP-001?

Imagine the SCPs this could be used for
this is almost definitely late but
Folded Into: A paper boat/hat - When placed in water, became self-propelling at speeds of up to 60 km/h. When inverted and placed on head, subject's physical attractiveness was greatly increased in the eyes of viewers. When both were performed simultaneously, both effects were achieved, with subject reported as looking 'dead sexy' while scooting around the water upside-down.
That SCP sounds fucking awesome. "Folded Into: A small knife - Became very sturdy and sharp, giving several researchers paper cuts when attempting to hold it. Able to hold its own against actual metal weaponry."

This SCP is a bit... Boring, isn't it?
I'm not saying it needs a twist or downside, but i just don't really think it belongs on the site. maybe as a -J article? It's already very similar to the coffee machine.

I think it's actually a bit... fun, I guess you'd say. I mean, in a world where sentient blobs of flesh big enough to fill a basement and portals to dead space with random limb-chompers floating about are possible, are you really telling me nobody would try and make an infinite pizza box?
If it's possible, why not do it? It makes sense to me.
the Foundation isn't an action movie, they catalogue and contain anomalous items. Not everything has to be an unkillable, shape-shifting ninja that has also had sex with each and every female member of your family.
Not every SCP needs to necessarily do something crazy or dangerous to be considered a serious SCP.
SCP-423, SCP-999 and SCP-085 are some good examples of SCPs that don't do anything that would be considered a risk.
Who else thinks this is the perfect start for an scp?
SCP-999
eugh I'm positive whoever thought this up had a boner while writing it
people are into that shit
I want SCP-999.

I'd actually say that a large majority of SCPs shouldn't be considered "serious" SCPs, since they're either too well contained, or just don't do anything largely dangerous.

It's a pile of peanut butter-ish goo.

Yes, because only super cool destroy-the-world D-class killing superthings are interesting.

I seem to recall people actually requesting that people stop writing SCPs that are little self contained apocalypses, as apparently the foundation's containing so many different ways of ending the world that it's really starting to get out of hand.
i'm just getting sick of them because at this point sneezing has a 50% chance to cause an XK-class end of the world scenario

Easy, make an SCP that will solve all the world's issues and nullify anything that poses the hint of threat to humanity. No catch, no destruction, just some silly reason why they won't release it.

You could have it so it's not entirely clear what it would do, but that hypothetically it could help in that way. Like, it's just a ball with a button on it that they feel obligated to keep safe because they instinctively think it'll help - but it's never made clear why or if it actually would, just that, if all goes wrong, someone has to push the button.
That's what I like about SCP, you don't have to explain anything. You can just come up with random stuff and let the reader draw their own conclusions.
Does anyone know if there's an SCP that just...doesn't do anything? Some perfectly ordinary object that poses no threat, or is even interesting in the slightest, besides the fact that the Foundation contains it for reasons even they don't know. Seems like that could be a good opportunity to reveal a little backstory on the Foundation, perhaps.
the fork i think

this guy, although it's a J so i don't think it's exactly what you're looking for
I just wanted to see if someone had thought of the concept before, and apparently they have. Knowing the internet, in retrospect that was probably pretty stupid of me to wonder.
Shame it's a joke SCP though, you could probably make a good "canon" story out of it if done right.
I'm thinking of registering and making my own SCP dubbed as "Simba". It's a big plush toy of a green lion (photo included) who has varying psychological effects on different people. For example, a normal human being would find him comforting when held, while a cold-blooded-killer would try to get away as soon as possible by a mere glance of him. While people who have killed but feel guilt or regret (or just had to do it) or the people with psychological "issues" feel guilt, mild paranoia but nothing far too extreme as the previous type.
Oh and he has the same effects on people who sleep with him. Good dreams, Nightmares, or Irritation.
How does that sound?

possibly attacking/killing people in their dreams if they had abused/killed children?
doesn't have to kill them for real, of course.

I think the video embodies 173 quite well (if you replaced watson with 173)

Nah, too stereotypical.
