Saved a baby bunny from my cat's mouth: Advice thread

I had a dog run up to me with the torn yellow collar on it, it was bruised to shit and looked like it had gone through hell, young young young thing. Went around looking for it's owner and no one claimed it (I went within two blocks to every door), set up signs for it and waited.
Three months later nobody claimed it (it wasn't housebroken either and seemed afraid of people), now the dog is with my dad in Florida and is finally opening up to people.
I'm so sorry man.
I remember the time that one of our German Shepherd babies was wounded when the mother accidently clawed it's belly. It was a small wound and we thought it'd be fine until later we realized it started to get infected but applying the topical ointment was too late. We tried to feed it with a bottle of milk but it kept choking on it and that's when I started to really cry. I checked on him to see if he was okay the next morning but he was dead near the other puppies and I sat there shocked.
Why are we attached to such things?
Really worried. He won't take down any food or formula at all... and I even got some formula in his mouth and he still won't take it. I've been trying all day. He's barely able to keep himself up right now. I'm just really hoping to god he stays alive until morning so I can get him to that wildlife center.
So stressed. I don't want him to die.

Well... he died.
He took his last breaths in my hand. I watched him as his breathing got slower and slower until it eventually just stopped. About half a minute later, he did a couple of gasps and coughs, but then that was it. I balled my fucking eyes out and my dad and I just buried him in the yard.
Fuck me, dude.
I knew this was going to happen. It always happens.

Just a note for future reference or for anyone else. Salt water is pretty effective at helping kill off infections, so is honey.
Sorry, Chubbles, but you did all you could for him. At least know that he died being comforted.
Get rid of your cat. Grow the bunny into a full rabbit, then eat it. Cats are a menace, the reason that bird populations are declining is due to the destruction of the environment and the over keeping of cats.
My recommendation though: be sure to answer yourself to a few questions before taking care of a new pet:
"Am I able to correctly take care of it?"
"Am I happy with my actual pet(s), if I have any?"
Most uncommon pets outside the cat/dog ones are quite harder to care about than these two kinds. Specially when you need to know what does it eat, drink, how does it live, if it lives under heat, etc. One friend of mine had his hamster giving birth to a bunch of babies, and all of them ended up dying because of the cold. You need to consult a veterinary or pet caretaker or pet expert in order to know how to treat these animals before trying to do it all by yourself.

Probably not much you could have done.
Had a similar situation but with 5 of them, even with round the clock monitoring they all died.

Rabbits are far bigger ecological pests than cats.
Awwww bro. I'm sorry man. Here, I don't know if this will help or make it worse, but it's rather touching.

Birds can fly, cats can't, therefore the bird population is declining because birds are fucking dumb.
Don't feel sad man. You gave the little thing some comfort before it died.
Rabbits are like most prey animals (guinea pigs main example) They hide any sign of being hurt/sick. They won't do anything.
I had the same feeling caring for a litter of baby guinea pigs. We didn't know the little pig we had was pregnant at the time and had a litter in the middle of the night. Sadly, The mother never recovered because she was already too old to have babies. The vet had told me that Guinea Pigs have a bone fused around the age of 2.
2 of the babies were already dead on birth. The other two were in bad shape since they couldn't get milk from the mother and passed a few weeks later. The sister of the mother died a few days later.
I cried so hard that day we buried them. I remember looking at that box thinking "I wish there was more I could of done."

At no point did I say let the rabbit live its full life repopulating and allowing it to damage the countryside.
Who would rate this thread funny fuck you guys
We shall never forget Goobie!
Has there even been a thread related to this where the animal survived?
I remember there was a thread like two years ago for a kitten some user in Florida found, named it Raisin or something.
Anyway Raisin was being raised well and then either the user stopped posting, the kitten disappeared/wandered off, or some combination of the two.
If memory serves me right, Raisin ran off and the user stopped because of that.
Baby bunnies are very susceptible to heart attacks especially when panicked like Goobie was. RIP Goobie.
This thread, the feels.
Read it Watership Down.
No seriously, awww so cute baby bunny! Hope it survives.

Did you even read the whole damn thread before you posted?
It's dead.
keep it forever
*edit*
i just heard it died
sorry for your loss?
My highschool classmate once saved a hedgehog from her dog and it was hurt pretty badly. It was bleeding really badly, had ruptured skin with the colon having fallen out. We performed surgery on it, sew it together and saved it.
You're a hero.
Bunnies are great.
