got it all worked out with the shipper (his address mistake).
If it doesn't get to me on the first try, he will pay the shipping for the second time (express)

If you topped out the temp gauge when the thermostat went expect to be buying a new motor too :v 3100s are notorious for bad head gaskets.
Not laughing at all, seems to be a good idea. I've recently taken up accumulator bets on the football, that's easy money. Won £145 for £3 down this weekend on the FA after correctly predicting 7 games.
I'm not a gambling addict, I promise :v:
Hahaha hey that's not bad at all, I think the most I've ever won on the football was about £80, and that was quite awhile ago. But back to the 49s, it's definitely worth a shot. I won a £600 on it- which is going towards my insurance! :(
Meanwhile, in Minnesota:

That is one hideous looking Lexus.
Going to have my cousin over on the weekend to take out the rear end of the 1967 Barracuda, after that we will be removing the carb from the Lebaron and rebuilding it. I'm pretty happy because I have been looking for someone to do car stuff with but my mechanics class is filled with douch bags, my cousin is pretty happy too because his school doesn't have an automotive class and he is really interested in vehicles, his parents dont allow him to do much either. We share almost the same ideas and both of us are pretty enthusiastic about doing a good job, I'm looking forward to it but because of winter I don't think it will be for long.

Then good thing they're not going to make it.
What do you guys think of this for my first truck?
http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/2772811188.html
My dad is set on getting me an older truck and it has to be under $3000
Good choice if it's in as good of shape as it sounds to be.

If I where you I would get a 1st. Gen Cummins. Or an old IDI Ford, I guess I'm bias because I'm a diesel mechanic, but I have always, even when I was a child liked diesel over gas, and My first truck was a 1997 F-350 dually.
Here is a good looking old IDI, and yes I would recommend diesel over gas any day in a truck. You can get so much more out of Diesel then Gasoline.

Good luck finding a first gen cummins for under 3k in any shape that would be considered "decent".

God why do 5 valve heads freak me out

Yeah, they go for a lot, but worth every penny. My first truck was Powerstroke, and I loved it, but after having my Cummins I could never go back to a V8 Diesel.

Thanks for the input but I do prefer the more classic truck look then the trucks around the 80's - 90's

Well if you like that classic style you could look for an old GMC/Chevy that had the 6.2 Detroit in them.

Any years that you can recommend?
Any years that you can recommend?
I like the 76-82 pretty good myself.
If you're going to get a Detroit diesel be in for some disappointment -- Even the 80s power-sapped 305's were more powerful.
Ugh, I can't really think of a car for under $8k that would do me good. I've strayed away from the bmw route and while I'd LOVE to get a lexus is300 the gas mileage is piss poor. I need a car that's good on gas, looks good, and has modding potential.
What are the best spark plugs i could get for my d17a1 civic? I've been looking at NGK plugs but i don't really know anything about this. This question is more directed towards Bradley because he seems to be the honda guru. Also, what about new wires (to the spark plugs), how much would that cost, would it be worth it, and is it easy enough to do? I'm hopelessly learning about this stuff as much as i can.
Edit:
I should add, i don't expect to see huge gains from doing things like this. I just like the feeling of having the best parts for my car.

That is true. That's why I could go with the 8.2 Detroit, but his limit is $3,000. But both the 6.2 and 8.2 don't even compare to the 5.9/6.7 Cummins and the 7.3 IH engines, both IDI and DI.
But keep in mind I'm very bias because I am a Diesel mechanic and have always drove one. But if you ever own a diesel, you will probably never look at a gasoline engine the same again.
