Insurance is a fucking joke
In terms of price, not usability. It sucks even more when all you have is liability, it's still 5 million dollars to insure, and then some mexican driving his shit truck without insurance pulls a hit and run and you get to pay EVEN MORE to fix it out of your own pocket. Corrupt ass shit is ridiculous.
Luckily I'm fully comp, If my car gets written off I pay the first £500 and then I get another car to the value at the time I insured it (£2500) and a courtesy car in the meantime.
Aside from that it's probably all those whiplash claimants >_>
Also doing my car's annual service next week, going to change:
Engine oil, 4.5 Litres, Fully synthetic, 5W40.
Oil Filter
Air filter
Pollen Filter
Diesel Fuel Filter
Possibly the front wiper blades because they are crap
I'm going to inspect all the brake components too at some point to ascertain whether it's worth doing them too while I have it in pieces. And check if the A/C has leaked because it didn't seem to work well.
Anything I am missing that's glaringly obvious? It's the first time I've done a service but I know I'm capable labour wise and I've read both the car's handbooks on servicing cover-to-cover so there shouldn't be any surprises. The only thing that worries me a bit is the fact it's a HDi engine so there's many high pressure components to the whole fuel and oil system.
found mold in my car
i think this water has been sitting for a while there ...
Cleaned everything up and also will be getting one of these things
Give a couple of the lower end ones a ring, I've found the online quote things to be highly inaccurate.
Oh, and try Co-OP young driver's insurance, that's my cheapest quote so far for this year. And I'll be ringing them soon to talk the price down.
It's fucking ridiculous though. I'll be 20 with a years no claims when my insurance renewal is up.
I do ~15000 miles a year and drive through midnight weekly - I drive a car that is as far from the typical "Boy racer's shit wagon" as is physically possible.
As far as I am concerned my vehicle has one purpose, To get me from point A to point B safely.
If you don't mind me asking, what car do you drive & what is your insurance premium?
I was looking at the young-drivers thing, and the only thing putting me off is that I won't be able to drive late at night or early mornings- which is when I'll be doing the most driving...
I think it'll be cheaper hiring a chauffeur.... ha.
I drive a 2L Diesel Citroen Xsara picasso SX (51 plate, early 2002), I pay something like £993 (It's been a year since I did it so I'd have to dig up the paperwork to get the exact number) Fully comp with roadside cover.
I'm with "Be Wiser".
Took a shit load of ringing companies up and stuff to get it sub £1k.
People may want to mock my car, but I have fold-out tables and you don't :v:
I need a funny comeback at BMW's! My collegue is all over me with old shit quotes like these:
"Racing in a Honda is like the Special Olympics
even if you win, you're still a retard"
"Vtec = All the lag of a turbo, but none of the boost :-)"

I need more than one
Gotten maintenance recently? And you still have your house?!
While were on the insurance topic, what do you fags have for insurance? I want BARE minimum, I want to pay for a piece of paper with my name on it saying I'm totally fucked if I get hit but as long as it's legal for a 88 Camaro (side story but I'm real close to getting one) hagerty won't cover me and I need dirt cheap insurance.

but the insurance will be in their name for a while. (like a year) so they dont want to be stoked.
that's lame man, do some job hunting and help pay for it so they can understand the COMPLEX YOUNG ADULT RESPONSIBILITY ONSET.
I do have a job. But I dont want to pay for the teen driving rip-off insurance. I am paying for the vehicle so that's why their ok with it.

Not true on this one. When you insure your car you give the insurance companie a rough estimate of the value but if they had to pay out they would initially offer you the book price of the car, the trade value. If you paid £3000 private they might over you around £2000, you can contest it and back up your evidence with adverts to show the same car with same age, miles and condition is worth more but it's hard to prove the conidition of your car prior to the accident. Insurance companies are out to minimise their loseses so will pay you as little as they can get away with.
All in all: Insurance companies can go shove their own paper work up their ass.
It's a faulty system governed by money scrounging law firms selling useless pieces of paper.
It's annoying because here, if you are under 21, you pretty much have to do the whole thing backwards. Basing your car choice on insurance quotes and paying multiple thousands on the insurance and a few hundred on the car.

Today I lost an old friend.
That just sucks...What kind of fucked up do you have to be to shoot up your own family? Hope the sad shit gets the needle. Not just saying that cause he was your friend, either, it's just fucked up.
Well my dad got me a '67 Ford F100
It definitely needs a paint job and some clean up but hey it's a classic :v:

Well probably not that different in Canada than in US, and I pay 360$/year for my insurance, covering self and others body damage, and others material damage. And that's in my name, owner of the car, papers all named after myself, being 17. I find this very cheap when compared to those folks from Europe here who pays a shitload of money just for insurance and must get tiny itty bitty cars.

$360 CAD? That's like, £230 GBP. :suicide:
If I had insurance like that I'd have my PT Cruiser tomorrow :(
