Okay, how many fuses should be in the fusebox? Like, it's supposed to be full right? If so, I'm missing like half of the fuses in my box... There's like 45 or so marked spaces, but maybe 30-35 are filled. I suppose this could be a possible cause to the electrical problem I've been having... What happens is the lights flash, the dash flashes, and sometimes dies, and the stereo shuts off.
Most if not all fuse boxes have empty spaces for extra components your particular model may not have. For example, Power windows. I have manual, but power was an option in the higher models (mine being base) and so where the fuse for it would normally be, is an empty space with a large X on the cover rather than PWR WIN for example. [editline]16th January 2012[/editline] IE, missing fuses are normal, try and find a cover for your car, 90% of the time they label each and every spot that should and shouldn't have a fuse for your particular vehicle.

i remember seeing that 70' needs a good home :c
I was thinking of keeping my volvo 240 and bringing it up to spec, A manual transmission and a turboed engine ~200hp will run me 3.5K, and I have a place that can get me a great deal on exhaust, as well as some good deals for interior parts, I am just afraid to invest in fixing up the car I know inside and out, or risk getting a junked mustang or camaro for the same ammount of money. My idea is that it's easier to make a reliable car fast than a fast car reliable. I mean even the volvo only comes out to about 1371kg curb weight, while the 350z or 5th gen camaroes come out to 1650-1700kg

oh FUCK http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/2749438062.html
I just went for a drive, and for the first time ever in my driving history, the roads were really slick and greasy, even though it hadn't rained. I guess it's because of the high humidity and warmer, but still cool weather. I was testing the traction under acceleration and braking, then i went to turn into a neighborhood at a slightly faster than civil speed to see how bad it would understeer. I just assumed it would understeer because it was a fwd civic, and that's all it had ever done before. I didn't really think about that only being the case under acceleration, and the car stepped out and i started to spin. This is when my reactions called upon all of my hours spent on forza 3/4 and gran turismo 5, with all assists off. I quickly countersteered into the slide, and as soon as i felt it starting to straighten up, i snapped the wheel back straight. The car was saved, and i had regained control. I'm just proud i didn't over correct. I know I know; this was at slower speeds (about 20 mph). I am still glad i didn't slide into a curb and snap an axle, like i was afraid of. I do things like this under (somewhat) controlled situations, so i know better how to react in a real situation. Even though that was pretty real, it was practice. I'm a new driver so, it was pretty exciting.
accelerating in a fwd is like accelerating while braking in a rwd
No it's not
damn thats clean. Also shat some bricks I payed $800 for my car. It is in good condition once i get the thermostat fixed. What the fuck is this shit. The right headlight (left from the inside) is randomly dim when we turn it on. Whoever is driving it at the time has to get out and hit the hood above the light housing. The wires are fine (looking) and the bulb is brand new.
but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymi0xkErqWI
I wanted to keep it more original volvo, volvo's have a specific sound, and turbo swaps are really simple and cheap since they use the same block.
Same scenario as before.. (Still under my dads) But I'm slowly getting there!!!! Also, under my own policy the quote was £3,700! [EDITLINE]16th January[/EDITLINE] It was more expensive for Third Party Fire & Theft than comprehensive. :v:

Well, I checked the fuses, and everything that's supposed to be in, is in. I checked the connection from the battery to the engine, and that's fine, I checked the connection on the alternator, and that's fine too.. I'm really beginning to be at a loss as to where this could be. I might have to take it to a professional now :\
How old are you two? Try some lesser known companies like Sky Insurance, Adrian Flux, Chriss Knott insurance. Join motoring forums and owners clubs. Some clubs have partnerships with certain insurance companies which can offer up to 20% off. Try listing your car as parked on the street, its sometimes cheaper than driveways or garages. Mess around with your job title to see if a similar title is less. Try calling them towards the end of the month, they'll be trying to meet their tarhets and more likely to sell at a lower price iust to make a sale.
Hmm. At idle revs my headlights+dash seem to randomly dim every now and then (With no distinct pattern), I can hear the engine RPM dip slightly too when this happens. While driving, if I lift off the throttle the dimming happens then returns to normal brightness. I'm going to get the multimeter out and see if I am getting the correct voltages with the engine off and running. I really hope it isn't the alternator and it's just a combination of the cold weather and a battery of unknown condition. Also will check terminals for corrosion. It's not good though, I don't want some driver thinking I am letting them out at a junction when it was just my lights dimming randomly. [editline]16th January 2012[/editline]
It was more expensive for Third Party Fire & Theft than comprehensive. :v:
I've found this too, totally makes sense. Not.
I've found this too, totally makes sense. Not.
Statistics man. More people driving X car with third party fire and thenft have been involved in an accident then people driving the same car with fully comp. Insurance isn't based on sense, that would be way too sensible and fair, it's purely based off statistics, at that age the statistics are against you so you've gotta pay the bills. The only solution to cheap car insurance is age.

Interesting, 2011 Citroen C1 1L VT. £1,600 fully comp in my name with LV and that's even before I phone them up. Could get a new C1 on finance with the servicing and warranty sorted for the period of said finance.
