Might be getting a '02 Volkswagen Passat GLS with 100k miles
Could prob get it for around 5500 since I know one of the owners of the dealership and he said it would need around $500 in repairs which he would take care of. This'll leave me with around 2-3k to put in mods for the car.
I'm mostly worried about the electrical system of them. I've heard they're mostly trash, but at the same time I've heard they're not a bother. WUTDO!?
My dad has a '97 540i, and the repair fees are ENORMOUS for it. Fuel economy sucks too. Fun to drive.
If a car sits for 2 years with gas in the tank, will the tank rust?
Last time i checked unless the fuel has water in it, there's nothing to rust the tank with. Don't think gasoline has any of those properties.
[editline]automerge...[/editline]
The gas won't be very good though...all the molecules seperatin n stuff.

You should just spend more on a better car.

alright cool
Just be sure to flush out all the gas, because as Justin said, after 3 months, the gas becomes old gas, starts to smells nasty, slowly gets a brown coloring, and is not very good for your engine.
Speaking of which, I've seen some nasty old gas in the Gas Boy tanks there was at one outfitting camp I worked at this summer on the anticosti island, oh god that thing was nasty, we were out of gas for the trucks, quads, chainsaws, electricity, wasn't cool, we had to run after gas :v:
Goddammit, after investing so much fucking money into this r/c car again, i go ahead and wrap it around a fucking mailbox and snap the front end right the fuck off.

It's either this mustang II, some other car that i like better, or possibly this 80's ranger that may be for sale
[editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
or possibly a 82 f100 i saw at a stealership

I know that feeling.. My RC car decided to fly into a curb after i spent $100 on it, getting it running. That's why i am fixing it again. It did that against my will though, it lost signal.

I just thought of the scene from Top Gear where Richard Hammond is like "But mine is better because... pop-up headlights"
But...
"Nope. Pop-up headlights."

I might be wrong, but wasn't this your dream car for a while? Why are you selling it?
Because I need something that isn't a piece of shit single cam, something fuel injected, something with more common parts, something a bit more comfortable for someone my height.
I need a 240sx.
Just get a Hummer H1, all your problems will be solved.
S13 Coupe!
BMW 330i with 161k miles starting at $6,500. I'll be testing it tomorrow and assuming it's in good or better condition is it worth it? What can I haggle it to?
[editline]17th January 2012[/editline]
Wow I'm a moron, it's a 2001.

lv*
80hp too much? are we talking cars, or a moped/scooter/bike?
[QUOTE=peabrain101;34267685]Alright, what do you guys think of Oldsmobiles? I saw this:

Its hard to find different cars in my price range (preferably under $2k). I hate going to school (12th Grade) and being around town and seeing shit tons of people my age driving old civics and tauruses and cherokees. So anything different is cool to me, plus look at those door handles. I also don't have any idea how much fixing the EGR Valve or a coolant temp sensor would cost.[/QUOTE]
"I just want to find a newer car" = Sick of this unreliable car, I'm gonna sell it.
I know your budget is limited but a car not known for reliability, of old age with very high mileage? Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
[QUOTE=BldrGyMnGy;34269790]S13 Coupe![/QUOTE]
be sure to throw an LS in there

owned, getting a twin cam DOHC one...
too bad I have to clean up in the garage first, gonna do that this weekend, and depending on how quick I am we're picking it up this or next weekend.
[editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
maybe do 20v black top swap later on.. need money to buy it first tho.
lol, first time i come back in like a month and we're talking about 240's
I was wondering where you was
Did you ever fix the car that got brotrucked?
Long story but no not yet, the engine from the coupe is going in my hatch soon so ill have a s-hittbox to drive.
Me and my dad are looking at cars right now, I can't drive in his current car so we need to change (can't upkeep 3 cars, too expensive and no parking space).
Went out today for the first time looking at cars.
I must have gone through like fucking 10 cars before I found one where I could get my legs into a good position (really, really long legs, some cars I couldn't even get into with steering wheel all the way up and chair all the way back, you can tell they're designed by short Japanese engineers).
Eventually, I tried a Suzuki Swift (1.3L 2006) pretty much as a joke, and it was bloody perfect.
The steering wheel went up high enough and center console was so small and to the right that it didn't get in the way like in a lot of cars.
Anyone know of other cars with a similar design?
I'm looking in the moves-and-works-and-doesn't-need-repairs-in-a-long-while price-range (10,000€ and down)
For people that don't live in Finland, we're talking Punto/Xsara Picasso price-range here.
[editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
I don't see what's funny about a person with really long legs looking for a car.
