What an utterly amazing film that was, everything was top notch. The violence, the sounds of battle and the characters. One of the best films I've seen, I might have to watch it again.
[sp]Doesn't matter dude two grenades inside a tank like that would turn anybody in there into mince meat[/sp]
[sp]I'm pretty sure his arm is missing when he climbs back it, as the camera pans down to the revolver there is quite a large bloody mess where his arm should be in the corner of the screen. But yea, even a shrapnel grenade would've chewed him to pieces in an enclosed space.[/sp]
What a terrific film. It didn't shy away from much [sp]aside from actually mincing the main characters. When we first meet Norman he has to scrub the former guys face out the inside of a tank, but for the other three who tank a grenade inside a tank it just seems to bloody them[/sp].
Saw the film yesterday, didn't think that much of it.
It focused too much on the violence, rather than storyline.
Also, it would've been nice to see a '2 Years Later' type thing at the end.

I thought the violence was kind of...gleeful, I guess. The movie just wallowed in brutality, and it didn't really seem to serve any larger artistic purpose. Like, Saving Private Ryan was up front with it's portrayal of war, but the movie felt like a lot more than just an excuse to wallow in it. Fury definitely did a lot of wallowing, and it just left me feeling kind of disgusted. And then it bogged down, hard, around the middle of the movie with a generally pointless side-plot.
But, that said, the movie did have it's moments. The Tiger scene was really, really outstanding. The portrayal of tanks in general was awesome if you're a tank nerd.
You know how Bullit is only remembered for the chase scene, and Heat is only remembered for the big shootout scene? I think this movie will only be remembered for the scene with the last remaining operational Tiger.

I actually expected the movie to end as a cheesy war veteran flashback but it never happened :v:
I wanted it to end with footage of [sp]Fury being dragged to a repair facility, getting new tracks, fixing the holes and finally painting over the name and being sent back to the front[/sp]
I dream of having [sp]a Fury-Captain America Crossover[/sp]
Fury was good that it showed the grittiness of war. But it gave me nightmares on the night I watched it, was a little too much for me to take in. Woke up sweating at 3am.

That sounds pretty depressing
It was really, really good until the ending I thought. [sp]The way they just tore through hundreds of crack-troop SS soldiers sort of ruined the immersion for me, especially when the rest of the film tried to, and imo succeeded in, displaying the horrors and 'realism' of war. Espeically the last scene where it just shows how many they slew from above. I swear they had more panzerfausts as well when they were marching. And the way that SS leaves Norman despite him murdering a tonne of his friends, it felt a bit contrived. But I guess that's Hollywood. [/sp]
I'd still see it again though, because up til that point it was excellent.

Wasn't it implied that the [sp]German soldier that let Norman go was basically the rookie Norman before he was scarred by the war?[/sp]
This is one of those movies where, unless you have a high quality surround sound theater at home, you must see in theaters because of how good the sound is. Nothing gets the blood pumping like high velocity shells screaming past your head a mere few inches away.

ZOOOOOOOOM
[editline]11th November 2014[/editline]
come to think of it, the part where [sp]a sherman got scraped by a super scary high velocity shell and the contrast in the tone of the commander when he says 'relax, its only a ricochet' is excellent[/sp]
I really liked this move. I liked the scene [sp]where Norman is dragged away from dead Emma by Grady while he says something in the line of "do you feel that? This is war, who the fuck do you think you are?"[/sp] even though it might be a little cheesy
