Man, imagine if Michael Cera could act. That would be something.
Opening weekend will basically set how well the movie does for the year. A strong opening weekend is very important and estimates can be made quite early. Scott Pilgrim was expected to be competing with The Expendables for the lead, not sitting behind Eat Pray Love.
Not really, I'd say its more the weekend to weekend drop rates that really determine a film's success. I think it's too soon to make an estimate about Scott Pilgrim's success, but it's still safe to say though that this probably isn't going to make a lot of money though, which sucks. Also I've never heard that Scott Pilgrim was expected to really compete with Expendables. Expendables was always gonna get the number 1 spot.
this movie is amazing. all of it.
God damnit I really really wish this girl I asked to see this movie with would hurry up and decide if she wants to or not because I really really want to see it.
Saw this and Expendables today. Expendables was good, but when i saw this movie, i basically shit myself. It was amazing. No forced humor, action was amazing, everything just fit together perfectly. Believe it or not, Cera fit the role perfectly. My only complaint is that lots of REALLY important stuff was changed, but it worked out in the end so thats alright. 9/10

I liked the movie but I can see how not everyone would like it. It appeals to people aged 10-30 and who like video games / music. If you are not in those groups then you probably didn't like the movie. Aside from that I thought it was a great movie, the video game cliches were great and all the references too. It's the best video game movie ever made not based on a game.
Go see it by yourself.
No. I want to "save myself" for her.
Movie was fucking amazing. It was a lot different then normal films with the cartoon/video game style. I enjoy this movie a lot and actually want to see it again.
I went to see this movie today and loved it. Loved it that they used text on screen as a necessity, rather than just an excuse. It was also different from other movies (from what kestner said). This movie also has the best song in existence.

I really would've considered seeing the movie if he wasn't in it.

Jew.
Just got back from seeing it. I thought it was a pretty good film adaptation, especially considering how they had to pick and choose on what to keep and what to leave out from six graphic novels. It did bug me though how the second half of the movie was a bit rushed.
I really liked this film. Don't know why there's so much hate for Cera, he fits this and most of his past roles reasonably.
Man this was fucking great. [editline]12:59AM[/editline]
Expendables was always gonna get the number 1 spot.
Ha
It's not funny. Expendables is a bigger budget film with a bigger audience. It's kind of obvious it'll get number 1 spot
[IMG_thumb]http://content7.flixster.com/rtmovie/68/82/68821_gal.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Yea, that's Michael Cera.
Yea, that's Michael Cera.
I posted it just to emphasize how dweeby he looks. I really can't stand looking at him. You honestly can't even say "HE'S GOOD AT ACTING IN THOSE SHY NERDY ROLES" What do you think he's like in real life? An outgoing stud or something? That isn't acting. It is him being himself. I cringed so painfully while watching Youth in Revolt when he started to play as his "badass" alter-ego. Any scene containing the smallest amount of non-awkward nerdiness causes him to choke. Compare him to another "nerdy awkward" actor, Christopher Mintz-Plasse. (McLovin) who even he gets more diverse roles. He's funny too, unlike Cera. Unless my sense of humor was suppose to pertain to "IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE HE'S AWKWARD" You may say "Hey, why do you care so much." Because I can't stand seeing his ugly face everywhere. He has no talent and needs to get the hell out of Hollywood. /redundant rant
I get what you are saying. This movie could have done better with someone else, but even still I liked it. I mean people really enjoyed Arrested Development. I know Cera isn't a main character in that series, but he doesn't ruin the whole thing. I think good writing and a good director can mask any actor's shitty acting skill.
in my opinion the movie looks like its going to suck big time, but still going to watch it because of Michael Cera.

Because he's an awkward teenager, he pulls it off even better. So, he's not 'acting' as much as more famous actors, but that doesn't mean he can't play roles that suit him. Also, he's still in his beginnings, he has lots of room to grow and right now he's staying in his comfort zone. Give him a chance before shunning every movie he ever makes. Actors also don't make or break a movie. Also, to show he can actually act, This was a fake freak-out he did to promote Youth in Revolt.
I watched it, and anyone who says Micheal Cera plays the awkward teenager trying to woo the girl in this is an idiot. He has some moments where he does play the awkward teenagers, but other times he's a huge dick, and he whines constantly. Also, he kicks ass. If anything, it's a parody of what he usually plays. The movie is probably one of the best I've ever seen. The game references were both witty and funny, the action was fluid and excellent, the dialogue was quick and equally witty, and the story overall was funny and meaningful, providing not only a good comedic, romantic, action movie, but also giving an observation into the common struggles of teenage romance, minus the evil superpowers and fight scenes. My only complaint was that it felt a bit rushed at times, but that's only because they were trying to fit six graphic novels into a two hour movie. They did a much better job at condensing the plot than, say, M. Night with The Last Airbender. I'd say if you're a gamer, hipster, someone who enjoys Edgar Wright's films, or just the average movie-goer, see this film. It's beautiful.
I just saw it, if anyone's on the fence, it's a good movie and you'd get your money's worth.

I love these.

Expendables: 43% on Rotten tomatoes Scott Pilgrim: 80% Cool. At the same time, I'm disappointed about the expendables. It looked like it could have been really good.
