I've read the entire thread about this movie, to see what's so cool about it... nothing to write home about IMHO I'll wait 'till I watch it to come up with a decent opinion about it
Expendables: 43% on Rotten tomatoes Scott Pilgrim: 80% Cool. At the same time, I'm disappointed about the expendables. It looked like it could have been really good.
You really expected those stick-up-their ass critics to enjoy a film like The Expendables? Don't get me wrong, I love intelligent movies that make me think, but I just like to occasionally shut off my brain for 90 minutes or so and enjoy a nice action film.

I just saw it, and it wasn't bad. It was rather quite funny. I enjoyed it, but I can see why more attention is going to The Expendables. Get more value for your money, and see this movie instead.

Except for The Expendables.
So keen to go see this at the movies.. And yeah, expendables was good.

The Expendables is just vapid shit. Why should I care about action when it's involving a bunch of people I don't give a shit about.
He's playing the bass guitar with a pick.
I just like to occasionally shut off my brain for 90 minutes or so and enjoy a nice action film.
It's not a nice action film if it's a mindless blood bath, it's a poor excuse to show blood and explosions on a big screen. People just like it because HURR DURR SO MANLY. Scott Pilgrim however I might see on DVD if I can find the books and read them without cringing.
^ I'm pretty sure when he says "a nice action film" he means mindless violence and blood and gore. That's where the "shut off my brain" part comes into play. I wholeheartedly agree with him.
Well, if you like that, good for you, but that doesn't make it good. In the end it's still a mindless blood bath, pointless violence with absolutely no substance. It can be entertaining without being good.
Look, "good" is a relative concept. There's no way of defining what's "good," you can only make statements about your opinion. Most of your posts have been saying the same thing over and over again - that the Expendables is NOT a "good" film, and that Scott Pilgrim IS a "good" film. The way you're saying it is as if there are strict guidelines for what makes a "good" film, and anything that doesn't follow those rules is automatically "bad" in some way. Saying that certain things are either definitely good or bad is just plain stupid. Some people might say that mindless bloodbaths with pointless violence and no substance is a relief from plot-heavy romancefests that have populated the cinema for the past few years. Oh, and saying that things "can be entertaining without being good" is kind of stupid since most people think that entertaining things are technically "good" - in their opinion. And anyway, surely the whole reason you go to see a film is to be entertained? That would mean that entertaining films are good in their own way, surely?
Uh what, I never said that Scott Pilgrim was good, I was always sceptical about it and said like three times that I didn't want to see it before changing my mind and saying I might. Whatever you say, violence without substance doesn't make a good movie. I don't care if you want to argue semantics, I'm not going to do that.
Fine, disregard the entire third sentence of my other post - my other points still stand. The only reason you're not going to argue about it is because you know fullwell that I'm right, and that you've been pushing your opinion around, dressing it up as fact, without anyone bothering to point it out to you.

The Expendables earns $35 million, Eat Pray Love earns $23.7 million, Scott Pilgrim earns $10.5 million. SP definately should've earned more.

Fantastic movie, easily in the top ten for the year thus far. And if you need convincing on that matter, read this review by the best reviewer on the net, MovieBob: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/1918-Scott-Pilgrim-vs-The-World Or, you could...y'know, SEE it :)

The movie was incredible. It held up really well to the comics, but it's not like that really matters that much seeing as how they are separate meda. I cannot believe how much money, effort, and talent was poured into this movie. It's apparent that everybody working on the film really cared about the project. There aren't that many movies that I can say that for. All of the characters and events were portrayed so fantastically that it gave me goosebumps. When I saw the devil hipster chicks, I knew the rest of the movie was going to be fucking awesome. I'm definitely going to see it as many times as I can while it's still in theaters because it is such an awesome experience.
It felt a little rushed at the beginning. Probably a comic/movie translation problem. It leveled out by the end though. I'd watch it again.
* 4. Roxanne "Roxie" Richter is Ramona's fourth evil ex, an ex-girlfriend,
Ramona's bi? Well,that was unexpected. I should read the comics,shouldn't I?
This is my new favorite movie.
I would do Ramona Flowers if the chance arose.
Ramona's bi? Well,that was unexpected. I should read the comics,shouldn't I?
"It was a phase!" - Ramona Flowers.
I just want to take this opportunity to mention that I want to fuck Kim Pines hard.
I just want to take this opportunity to mention that I want to fuck Kim Pines hard.
who doesn't
God damn I felt bad for Knives. She's such a cute lil girl and Scott's like "Naaaaaaaah" and goes off to Ramona. Also, "I'm in lesbians with you."
Why have I never heard of Mary Elizabeth Winstead before this movie?
The style reminds me of Zombieland. The movies gonna be shweet though.
