I didn't expect much from it Was surprised Deserves more box office hits
They touched on it a little, but her explanation in the movie is the same as in the comics. The entire movie uses video game logic, and is in a video game world, so saying it didn't make sense doesn't make sense itself. That's like saying when you go to see a Superman movie, you find it silly that Superman can fly and is super strong.
During the buildup I didn't realise that the film literally was a video game. I thought all of the "HUD elements" and character description popups and such were just a) part of the art style (which I'll admit, I did like) 2) a lazy way of providing exposition and iii) a way of getting cheap laughs (pee meter etc) Now I suppose it was a way of letting the audience know not to take it seriously and I admit I was slow on the uptake, but all the same, the film jumps between normal logic and videogame logic without the slightest bit of transition. Now I suppose this could be some kind of allusion to cutscenes in video games where that kind of "flip" does occur, but that was only because of the limits of the medium and the relative youth of the genre meaning that devs didn't have a better way of telling a story.
Will there be awkward moments if I go watch it with my parents? I can't go alone as buses aren't running today in my area.

Read the comics and that kind of transition happens all the same in that. It's a disadvantage of being so faithful to the comics I would say.

Now this not like how Spiderman is those three genres at once, because in Scott Pilgrim they're intrinsic to the narrative and style. It must have been quite an undertaking for director Edgar Wright to pull this off, and I concede that he did an outstanding job with something that could easily have turned into a genuinely disgusting mess, like all of Uwe Boll's adaptions of video games. It's like pizza and ice cream; they're both good on their own, but put them in a blender and it tastes vile.
this film was......... no words can discribe how much this movie defies comprahension. but it was funny none the less
It was great, all my friends who had never read the comics loved it too.
I wanna see this movie so bad. Looks good, and I've enjoyed Michael Cera in his other movies as well.
I just watched it, was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. I'd never read the comics but it was totally awesome, one thing has been really annoying me though. One of the first fights just don't seem to fit in with the film as well as the rest of them do, I dunno what it is but it seemed to break the whole film flow for that scene. Aside from me being overly picky, awesome film.
Which?
I now want to see this. ASAP.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BitByGeWGxU a story that explains how kim and scott dated... for those who dont know so don't rate dem clockz
I saw this movie. It was fucking incredible. It was funny, had awesome boss fights and was actually better than the books in some cases. The game paradigm thing was fun and never really got in the way of the film. Also a good 8bit Universal logo at the start. If you think this is hipster shit then fuck off.
a story that explains how kim and scott dated...
Extremely Late
I would see it but I just don't like how Cera looks and sounds. He reminds me too much of myself, even his surname is similar to mine.
Maybe Shit Quality but the Best Fight in the Film
This doesn't come out until 1.10. here. Shit's pretty weak. Great comic though.
Maybe Shit Quality but the Best Fight in the Film
I've gotta disagree. Not much else can compare to the [sp] end fight when Scott pulls out the power of love/self-respect and starts slicing his way through Gideon's guards [/sp]
Concerning the Sex-Bob-Omb vs. The Twins Scene: [sp] If Roxie stated before-hand that only Scott could defeat the Exes, not using Ramona's help, then how come Stephen and Kim were able to help Scott beat the Twins [/sp]

Movie was fantastic. Seriously does the books great justice. Wish they could've squeezed Mr. Chau in there somewhere though. Someone asked if the video game was worthwhile. Yes, it is. Especially if you have buddies to play with. I played through it with all of the characters, got all the trophies and I'm still hungry for more. If some of you [PS3 owners] want the 100% rating for trophies and need the 'power of friendship,' just go under settings, accessory settings, and change your controller's port at the character selection screen to choose characters for the other potential players and switch back to player one. Choose any level where enemies will spawn right on top of you and just let everyone get pummeled while you revive them afterwards.
Just came back from seeing it, apart from some 12 year olds sat next to me talking about MW2 and different names for Vaginas it's my new favourite movie.
I think this movie suffers from "Oh look another shitty movie where Cera plays an awkward guy courting a quirky girl." The trailers greatly aggravate this too. They do no justice to the movie. I wasn't even considering seeing it until my friend was like "I saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World today and holy mother of fuck it is awesome. We are going to see it." He forced me to watch it and holy shit I fucking loved it. Shame it did so poorly that it is playing nowhere near me.
Cast was perfect. Didn't think michael cera could do it, but he did.

It's really not the usual Cera film, despite it looking very similar on the cover.

Seriously, one of the posters is just Cera playing a guitar with "Scott Pilgrim" in the background. But the movie itself was probably my favorite movie ever. Having read all six awesome volumes, played the game with friends, and seen the movie, everything about this series was awesome and genius. I was somewhat nervous to see Cera playing such an awesome character, but he did an absolutely wonderful job at it, and has gotten lots of respect. [editline]07:53PM[/editline] http://www.youtube.com/user/SoundtrackNinja Fucking awesome soundtracks.
Holy shit this movie was so goddamned awesome I'm seeing it again as soon as I can [editline]10:10AM[/editline] I'm surprised it wasn't shown in 3d, but I'm also pleased
I noticed [sp] The battle between Scott and Lucas Lee's stunt doubles is basically one big reference to The Warriors, complete with music [/sp]
Oooh in what way?
I'm sad the [sp]power of self-respect[/sp] didn't look like the Power of Understanding from the book [img_thumb]http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100726215129/scottpilgrim/images/thumb/1/18/The_Power_of_Understanding.jpg/529px-The_Power_of_Understanding.jpg[/img_thumb]
