I... am a hero.
Today my friends called me up and decided we were going to go see a movie.
The movie they had in mind? Vampires Suck.
Me, being the heroic gentleman that I am, used my superior powers of persuasion and convinced them that Scott Pilgrim would be a much better decision. I quite probably saved my friends from self imposed brain death, and finally got to see the best movie of the year so far.
Woah, I did the same thing. I was like the only one who wanted to see it, and I guess since I was the one who did all the driving, they listened to me. We all liked it, too.
Just saw it with my buddy. Great movie. Didn't read the comic so I'm confused as the door was for? The one Scott and Ramona went through like twice?
I'm not certain but I think it has to do with the subspace tunnels Ramona mentioned.
Also I need to incorporate 'lady-dudes' into everyday conversation.
I thought it was supposed to be Ramona's apartment door, and it was just a stylized scene transition or something.
I remember in the comics, the Katayanagi's wore the same clothes, but different colors, GOD DAMNIT MOVIE STICK TO THE COMICS! they also removed lisa and a better fight scene between scott and todd.
How could you tell the color of the twin's clothes in the comic if the comic is black & white and Lisa is in the animation
If you want to get the books, try to get the 1-6 bundle like I did. Paid just under fifty dollars for the whole deal. I will add that I did pre-order the bundle on Amazon just two days before it was released so I can't say you'll get the same price.
Funny thing though. I got it in the mail just one day after it was released and I use economy shipping. Hmm...
They should make a sequel like Scott pilgrim vs the universe!

The film reflects the whole comic series.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The Universe is the name of one of the comics.

Now for a lucid take on this movie, at first glance Scott Pilgrim vs. The World seems like a campy spoofy video-game oriented comedy-fest but prepare to be shocked,
it is really outstandingly brilliant in the way the story is told, the greatest part of this movie is how it takes real situations and transforms them into these surreal battles,
Struggles in Romance and just life in general are turned into super-exaggerated fights with superpowers!
I thought about the trailers and while dissapointing, what could have explained this movie's incredible plot in detail, within 1 or 2 minutes? absolutely nothing, they did the best with what they had.
I didn't find that Cera was playing the same role in this film, not too far from it but far enough away to where any Cera-typecast haters would be pleased.
The camera work was AWESOME. Expect things you have never seen before, a completely perfect "port" of the comic book style.
[sp]The scene with the twins, the cuts, the reflection off Gideon's glasses, fucking perfect.[/sp]
Easily one of my favorite movies, and hey i didn't read any of the books either. Proof one doesn't need to be "in" with Scott Pilgrim to love this movie.
[sp]p.s. i eventually did read them, but not before i saw the movie[/sp]
My only complaints rest in the minor deviation from the comic plot in some places, but if you're like me and only picked up the comic because you loved the movie then, well,
i don't have to explain why that isn't a problem worthy of defaming this movie.
Hope i picked out the key reasons to see this movie although if you are skeptical you will remain that way until you see it (as i was). I'll leave you alone forever now.
Best part of my Scott Pilgrim movie-going experience:
The collective groan of the audience when one of the trailers played before the movie was revealed to be a M Night Shyamalan film.
Well, I must say, I really did eat my words. I admittedly bashed this movie for starring Michael Cera, believing it was "just another Cera movie". But I finally saw it, and I was delightfully wrong. It really was a good movie.
I'm most likely going to read the comics too. Bryan Lee O'Malley must be swimming in his cash.
I saw the trailer a while ago and didn't think much of it. Saw the actual film today and what can I say? One of the most unique films I've seen for a loooooooooooong time! Loved it :D
I ordered a Sex Bob-omb shirt!
This one!

edit: Ha ha I got my size before it went out of stock!
Oh yeah and I got a Plumtree shirt off amazon.
Should I get the 'Skull Pixel' shirt?
Also I'm going to see this movie again today! What the fuck is this bullshit though there's only two times it's showing! God damn.
Fucking bought. That looks sick, man.
Just saw it again. [sp]The vegan police[/sp] gets me every time.
fuckin' Tom Jane made that scene
I know alot of people are gonna hate me for this, but I think some of the fights were a little rushed.

They spent 70% of the filming time on the fight scenes, how can you say it was rushed D:.
Scott Pilgrim is helping me celebrate becoming a Gold Member.

Most movies these days are just using 3D as a gimmick (PIRANHA 3D ANYBODY?!) But i think SPVTW could i benefited from 3D. Unlike most films now a days. sure it might seem a cheap use of the technology but having the K.O. pop out from the screen, or the whole "BASS BATTLE" popping out. that would have been cool. Also [spoilers]The Katayanagi Twins fight, with the gorilla, the dragons, and the sound waves would have been kick ass.[/spoilers]
Anyone agree?

i agree kind of i mean it took awhile for the first 3 fights but after that it was fight after fight really quickly, it should of been more spaced out

None, if the filmmakers have any sense. The comic series is finished.

:frogdowns:
Sequel would ruin it
Thinking about it, it's probably a good thing that the film hasn't done that well in the theatres - the producers will be less inclined to make a sequel, therefore there's no chance that the sequel would suck and disappoint everyone who loves the film and comic series :v:
Why does it have to be Micheal Cera as the main character again? :v:

i watched it again today (Had a free movie cash ticket that expired tomorrow so why not) and i tried to spot all the background imagery that was going on.
i have to say i love the work they did for just the scenery. it fits the mood and everything. I also noticed that ramona's highlighted hair fits the movies story, for example when her hair is green [sp]she is controlled by the 7th evil ex's Green glowing microchip.[/sp]
found it cool that edgar did so much cool stuff in the movie just for background imagery and sound timing.
