The books are awful. Not funny, and they're too self obssessed with being hipster faggy shit. Decent Artwork though. The film should be pretty good though, Edgar Wright doesn't usually make bad films. Fucking awful casting though, Michael Cera is not the only geeky person on the planet, and hipsters piss me off big time with their existence. So yeah, He's got an uphill battle with this one.
Here's the music from the trailer
Who didnt know what the song was?
Who didnt know what the song was?
I didn't until I came into this thread. I by came I mean, came.

Because Hipsters are self obsessed cunts who love nothing more than to tell people how alt and indie they are. Even when you don't want to fucking know. By following the same trend as all their Hipster fag friends. They're like Furries but not in a Fursuit.

Most of them just like indie and alt stuff because it's different and don't really give a flying fuck about what people think of them. Sure there are those assholes who are like "Oh I'm hipster look at me I support indie bands" but that's like every other asshole in every other social circle. You're generalizing a whole culture. Just because something is 'different' and has a hipster vibe doesn't mean it instantly thinks it's better than everything else out there. I don't get why people assume that. Also comparing furries to hipsters is fucking retarded.
No, Hipsters and Furries are pretty much interchangeable as a Culture, even if their interests differ. Attention Whores. Most of them like Indie stuff and Alt Stuff because they don't care what people think about them? That's why they all listen to the same bands and dress the same. They care too much about what people think about them. They conform to a crowd to avoid a crowd and say they're being edgy and alt. It's like saying you don't like Justin Bieber because he's too Mainstream, but you like Kings of Leon because they're not mainstream. Despite them being Mainstream.
http://www.hollywoodunlocked.com/movies/scottpilgrim Free showings this week with free food/drinks, one is right by me tomorrow. :D
I want to see this movie, looks good
No, Hipsters and Furries are pretty much interchangeable as a Culture, even if their interests differ. Attention Whores.
There are attention whores in all cultures, and not all Furries, Hipsters, Emos, Goths or Punks are attention whores. Yes, there are some, just like there are many attention whores who don't belong to any of those cultures.
Most of them like Indie stuff and Alt Stuff because they don't care what people think about them? That's why they all listen to the same bands and dress the same.
I don't think you understand the meaning of 'Cultures' "The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization or group" So yea, they have the same interests and dress the same, that's why we're able to put them in that category, just like we separate all other groups of people. Anyways, what I meant by "They don't care what other people think" is that they aren't being arrogant or egotistical. They're just being what they want to be, and most people just seem to interpret their style as "They think they're better than everyone." which is not so.
They care too much about what people think about them. They conform to a crowd to avoid a crowd and say they're being edgy and alt.
You seem to have a deep understanding of a culture you aren't part of. I guess your amazing powers of perception allow you this great insight. You seem to not want to except the simple fact that they have simply have different interests that you don't particularly enjoy.
It's like saying you don't like Justin Bieber because he's too Mainstream, but you like Kings of Leon because they're not mainstream. Despite them being Mainstream.
Yea that's quite a silly remark. The people I've heard talk like that are probably the people you think are the 'general hipster' but they're really the arrogant, self absorbed assholes of the bunch. Your generalizing a whole culture based only on the few assholes that are part of it.
Saw the movie last night, thought it was awesome.
"An epic of epic epicness", are you kidding me? That's ridiculous. That line, and the retarded avatar maker made me utterly despise the movie because of how cool it's trying to be. I'll probably just see it when it comes out on DVD if it gets really good ratings. I'll borrow the first comic book from the library and see if I like it.
It's become the Invader Zim of a year ago, where everyone wears merchandise based on it and tries to reference it at any given chance, at least from my area.
Can't wait, :slick: Wallace is awesome.
i don't like when people say that x group consists of attention whores just because they act weird "Look at that man who masturbates to/JUST ENJOYS THE ARTISTIC VALUE OF anthropomorphic artwork, he must be doing it so people will pay attention to him." "Look at that guy listening to music we've never heard of on headphones all by himself, he must be doing that so people will pay attention to him." I'm neither a hipster or a furry but it's pretty rude to illegitimize people's interests like that.
I can tell that everyone here likes this movie, but I just don't see what's so appealing about it. It looks really corny and lame to me. The comic book style is a nice touch, but I don't know. IT just looks really damn corny/lame to me. Is there something really cool about this movie that I haven't heard of?
Fucking hate Michael Cera [editline]03:08PM[/editline]
:bandwagon:
Because people can't have the same opinions, that's just wrong.
I don't know, I saw the trailer a while back and cringed when I heard them say stuff like, "Get it on like donkey kong". I don't know if it's just me but it seemed to be trying way too hard to be appealing to gamers, or people who like to fancy themselves as such.
I got back from an advanced screening last night. It was really great, wasn't expecting some of the references thrown out. Now I only own the first volume, I'm not a total fan, but it was an awesome film. I'd suggest going to see it. I probably will see it again when its actually in theatres.
Aurain, the fact that your avatar is the Militares Sans Frontiers (Army without borders) is pretty fitting, because it seems like you hate everyone.
I'm going to see an Australian pre-screening on Monday night!
New add thing gives some pretty interesting behind the scenes info. Just wait t'il the trailer finishes and unlock all if you don't want to have to keep clicking on it. And just disregard the few crappy mash-up clips. http://www.scottpilgrimthemovie.com/itrailer/
maybe i'll see this while my siblings and mother and brother's girlfriend go see vampires suck
Is it just me or does Michael Cera seem to act less timid in this, judging by the trailers. He still has the shy guy voice, but he's acting kind of like a regular actor.
"An epic of epic epicness", are you kidding me? That's ridiculous.
That pissed me off too.
The whole epic of epic epicness is from the comics and such, and the game references are from the comics.
The Last Airbender all over again.
The Last Airbender was a steamy pile of shit made by the infamous M. Night Shyamylan. At least give Edgar Wright a bit of respect.
The whole epic of epic epicness is from the comics and such, and the game references are from the comics.
People don't seem to realize that.
No I didn't, because I didn't read the comics. And it's still retarded.
The first comic was in 2004. Back then, using the word epic wasn't that big of a deal.
Doesn't mean you need to use it in a film adaptation anyway. Unless it is being used constantly across the whole comic, in which case there should be no excuse considering the last volume came out a few weeks ago.
